could you tell me at what height from the floor the monitor is? I plan to put it next to a table and the screen would be going slightly over the table so the bottom of the screen needs to be higher than the table.
I have a P1 with a Sparco seat and Fanatec gear. This rig is solid and I've been able to dial in my perfect driving position. This is my forever rig, can't see ever needing anything more.
I bought the P1, very impressed. The uk sales manager johnathan (Upshift store uk) was so helpful, he even offered to call me to discuss seat sizes etc. I almost bought the monitor mount, but they pointed out that it will only support upto a 43" wide screen monitor, so I went for the SC90 stand which is a beast. Delivery was fairly quick (2 x weeks) and it was very well packed (it came on a wooden crate). My only slight issue is that the base holes doesn't quite line up with the Fanatec CSL pedal set, so I'll have to drill a couple of holes.

Thanks for another great review. Man, this thing is well-made! Incredibly neatly machined and finished. If ever I was to buy a rig, this would be it as it has so much more character than the multitude aluminum extrusion kits out there. The big downside is the weight, which is why I still love my wooden cockpit which is easy to move despite being rigid enough to handle my DD.
This cockpit has been on my short list since it came out but have been waiting for someone undertaking a comprehensive review first. Thanks to this detailed review, it remains firmly on my shortlist…cheers Barry 👍

Great review Barry - fascinating product. The Button Box and Keyboard elements are insanely engineered, more than your average budget work Monitor mount. I bet a ButtKicker taking its first look at this frame would call for its mother.
FINALLY starting to like mine. I bought and put together two months ago but there was about a 1mm north/south movement on the right seat rail that ended up moving the seat about 1/2cm or so on the top end, because the seat acts as a lever. Rseat sent me another, ALSO had the same exact problem. I had to message them over and over, finally weeks later they sent me a solid right sided rail. Frustrating to say the least, but when the QC is on point, it's a great rig.
Most likely we Sim racers would be greatly increasing our time in seat doing actual sim racing. Ya know, that's if we weren't watching some one over explaining every tedious, unnecessary, boring details.

I have an S-1, and love it. These newer models however seem to really be built to be rigid. My brother is considering an S-1, and I told him he really needs to give the new models a hard look first.
I’m in the market for a new rig but the profile rigs are so ugly that I can’t bring myself to spend $1K on aluminium that you can buy yourself online as sections and DIY your own rig. This rig actually has some style. Nice review Barry!
Great review Barry. I love the green so give me more. Looks off just part of the frame. Overall looks great but keyboard tray could also be used as a stretcher when you lose all your irating ha ha
I remember the first time watching Barry and thinking ""what the hell" ? He's got the voice of old Am disc jockeys and the long hair of a stoner. But after watching many of his videos my respect has grown. I can honestly say he's the best in depth reviewer of Sim products. And think companies are scared if he reviews their product.
Ooooooooooh, I think this is the one. Been looking to retire the old Playseat for while and this looks like it's exactly the peace of kit I'm looking for. I can see this taking off a few tenths, well that's my excuse anyway 😂
Anyone having this chassis with heusinkveld ultimate and the monitor mount? I am 1m87 (~6 feet, 1.2 inches) and Barry points out the rollbar being low and some pedals that don't fit although stating that heusinkveld should be ok but he didn't try so I wonder if someone can confirm.
I don't know. To me rseat prices are way beyond what you pay for a Simlab rig, especially when adding accesoiries. And some can't stand the look of 8020, but a black Simlab rig looks great too when it's complete.
@@blehz i just ordered a simlab GT1 myself and it came out to around $650 shipped to the US. Idk what R Seat shipping is like, but if they just throw in a $600-$700 FIA approved Sparco seat for no additional cost, then $1200 is reasonable unless you absolutely must have 8020.
@@Shakshuka69 I thought the same, however these are not full spec racing seats from Sparco. They're Sparco branded and manufactured but they are gaming oriented seats (which I didn't see notated on the Rseat website before I ordered). On the side of my Evo seat it even has a sticker stating "for sim racing only". Nevertheless, it's solid for the task at hand it's just not a $600 full spec seat.
@@fooball76 Oh wow, I didn't see that either. Good catch. I'm surprised they could get Sparco to manufacturer a whole line for sim racing. I guess they just don't make them as thick? Because they look identical. Or maybe FIA certification is done by batch and these are set aside and left uncertified to save cost therefore they can be sold cheaper.
@@fooball76 I got the P1 with the Sparco Evo XL seat, and mine is real. Has an FIA hologram sticker and expiration date. I got the rig for $1200 and that seat sells for $875 online. I'm really not sure how they pull that off, but I couldn't be happier.
I would love it if they sold that tubular (green) wheel/monitor support by itself. Love that rig but the shipping costs of those beams would be prohibitive due to overall weight. I could easily adapt that front section to an 80/20 profile.

I love the look of r seat rigs. But I gotta say, it looks like a whole bunch of proprietary parts for a result that’s not gonna be any better or cheaper than a more universal 80/20 rig.
It seems like a matter of taste. Personally I like the versatility a alu profile rig provides. I can screw on anything almost anywhere without drilling holes. Also I like the subdued looks of my GT1 Evo in black.

man ... very interested. my diy aluminum rig is in the living room and something like that would help improve the visual impact .. sure the quality is high, and you pay for it, but 1200 euros for the frame without seat with a couple of accessories and shipping cost, they seem excessive..
I wish I could find someone who sells the thick, solid metal front mounting plate for simucube bases that you show off in one of your videos. That would be an ideal mount for my new sc2 Pro base, when I soon build my first full cockpit. (Temporarily using a NLR 2.0 stand)

Hi can you do a episode for us on which is the best cockpit to start with as I hate wasting my money constantly upgrading, mine I built from scratch with all mandrel bent steel , and heavy aluminum plate I use to build Nascar, and trellis frames for a kit car facility. But mine I built for myself and for my dimensions but now my kids are getting into sim racing and cart racing I want a robust unit that can work for them as they grow , .The equipment I have for them is a frex gp direct drive ,for pedals mold set of RealGear gtpro 3 set , dsd hydraulic handbrake, frex gp 6 speed shifter , but all are still in their boxes as I cannot find a rig that will meet their needs, was thinking a sim lab p1 x chassis or the pro simu t1000 3m unit my issues is there is no place so I can see stuff in the metal . Your word means alot to me
@Barry love your reviews of all the sim hardware. Regarding the mounting plate for the butt kicker tubes you mentioned. If I were to guess I think those different size tube are there so if you already have a BUTTKICKER GAMER2 Easy-Clamp Immersive Haptic Transducer w/ 90 Watt Power for example, you can use it to mount it there rather than having to go buy a new one. What are your thoughts on that. BTW I agree that looks to be the must sturdy and well put together off the shelf rigs I've seen so far. Besides the the thin fiberglass seat I can not belive how reasonable the price is. Especially the welding and laser cutting going on in-house and providing you with a full set of allen key wrenches and two 13mm wrenches that are dropped forged and not some fake chinese tools. Go to a a shop that builds roll cages or fabrication shop and have it built but for a 150 there is not much that is full rig mainly just wheel mounts at that stage if you have a few bucks more I recommend the arozzi velocit racing sim all you need is a computer chair and remove the front wheels as it attached that way u can find them for 200 ,
Just received my P1 and the base, seat mount/slider, and pedal platform were missing. All I received was the racing seat and the welded tube steel wheel base mount. Pretty bummed.
You mention the pedal tray height and said other pre fab cockpits are more like a “truck diver style” seating. Actually that is kind of what I’m looking for. I am more comfortable in that type of seating. Could you recommend cockpit with a higher seat/lower pedal tray that would fit me better? Tia
He actually said it's *not* like the truck driver seating you get in other pre-fabs. I made that mistake too but after listening again I realized he was actually praising its seating style. He just wishes he could make it 3 inches lower still for his own personal preferences, but that would get a bit too flat/formula for me.
I was going to say the same. Seems the pedals and seat could both be shifted forward in tandem a bit. Thus allowing some extra pedal clearance. The way I have my P1 setup seems to allow a bit more room that the way Barry has it configured here, however I'm using a DD1.
Hi Barry. I've seen a lot of your videos and in case of reviews of Thrustmaster products I actually made my purchase decisions based on them. Now I have at the moment you can say complete Thrustmaster ecosystem with T-lcm pedals, Th8a shifter and TSS handbrake with T300 RS GT as a wheel base. I've recently bought new wheel rim Thrustmaster Sparco r383 Add-on and although I generally like this rim both in Dirt Rally 2.0 and in GT Sport (my two main games I play on my PS4) I have a feeling that because of it's diameter and being havier than original T300 RS GT rim I lost a little bit of ffb details. My main question is, since you have reviewd both wheel bases you think is it good idea upgrading to T-GT (because of it's superior torque) or maybe it's better to wait for Playstation compatible CSL DD wheel base if I want to get to next level?
Yes that rim is very heavy for a T300. I used it on my TS-XW and felt it was dampening the FFB too much. My advice would be to leave the PS4 behind because it will really limit your wheel base choices. If you can’t do that, then simply go back to the rim the T300 came with. I actually don’t use the TS-XW rim. I got a used rim from a TX because it’s *extremely* light and the FFB was immediately better. Unless you’re running a DD, go with the absolute lightest rim you can find.
@@kondor99999 Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm suprised that even that base (TS-XW) doesn't have enough power to use this rim comfortably because I assume in terms of torque it's more or less the same as T-GT.

Looks like rseat finally figured out how to make a rig with no flex, maybe? I have an older model and it flexes like a mother, even though it is advertised as “zero flex” and wasn’t inexpensive. Also, their customer service reps are straight up liars when you need something. YMMV.
Calling the arc the radius is common in building. I am also a builder. I deal with it. But my mathematics side refuses to call the arc the radius. In a circle, there is a midpoint, diameter, radius, and arc. RADIUS IS NOT CURVED. ARC IS. CHEERS.
