This video looks at the RSV Schuyler Quentel with Apocrypha in firebrick red goatskin. The Revised Standard Version is the predecessor to the New Revised Standard Version and English Standard Version. It was first printed in 1952 and retains certain more traditional aspects of Bible translations, such as the use of "thee" and "thou" in direct speech to God.

I just ordered my copy. I’m glad that some Protestant bible publishers are starting to print bibles with the Apocrypha again. These books should have never been removed from the KJV since they were part of the original 1611 KJV and have been part of every single bible since the days of the early church. These books were always considered inspired Scripture throughout the church age UNTIL Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformers came along.

I purchased a Schuyler RSV and read it. As much as I enjoyed the translation, I found that I have a very difficult time reading the tiny verse numbers. This was not too big of a problem because I used it as my morning Bible instead of a reference / study Bible, where I need to easily identify the verse numbers.

Another excellent review. From what I see the smaller font is really nice, I think I'd prefer the 10 pt to the 11 actually. The 11 pt has also felt a bit too large for me, odd as that sounds.

I got the red one without the yapp, but if it had been available at the time I pre-ordered I would have gotten one. It finally came two days ago, and I love it.

Thank you for the review! I got one and it’s become my favorite! I love the font and spacing that makes it so easy to read for long stretches. I prefer the use of the thee/thou form of address for God. Because it’s the familial/informal form of address, it helps me remember that I should be talking to God as my Father in prayer.

I like the NRSV the purple ONE which is between PSQ and RegSQ in size. It has 10 point FONT but in a smaller bible and in comfort PRINT. I don't think Schuyler uses comfort print but 11 point is nice to me for reading with good white spaces.

Im not Catholic, but of you're looking for a more affordable RSV, the Great Adventure Catholic Bible is a pretty cool edition. I'd like a Schuyler, but it's a little too pricey for me.

RED/GOLD!!!!!!! I love it. I love basically everything about this Bible, including the increased words per line. The one thing I don’t like is how the perimeter tooling does not connect across the spine.

Seems like this RSV Bible with the Apocrypha is currently out of print; and it's uncertain if it'll be continued, or not.

I am happy to hear that the new CSB QUENTEL has a bolder font . Which should sell and help it look more like a Cambridge bold font and dark font Bibles in their King James versions at least. It seems like the regular Quentel font is plenty big but it would be more readable if it were Bolder and darker type I think

Part of me wants to say that this publication is obsolete in light of the NRSV and ESV...and then part of me thinks this RSV looks so nice that it's worth picking up regardless. (Maybe we'll see love for the ASV next?)

I am warming up to Yapps. In moderation. I have a NRSV and RSV in LARGE PRINT. So would NOT get the RSV in 10 POINT. About 10.5 FONT is as low as I go in expensive bibles..Schuyler or Nelson PREMIER.

The yapp was somewhat trained by the paper it was shipped in. I may store mine in the paper to train it, but I'm not sure.

I ordered the full yapp RSV with Apocrypha from EB in July; it came end of September. Stunning Bible--great font for these aging eyes, also. I've used the RSV since I was a little Presbyterian in the sixties. This is definitely an heirloom-quality Bible for those so inclined. I own around 15 Bible translations, both Catholic and Protestant, and the two that I really dislike are the NKJV and the NRSV. Rather like the girl who's a virgin and chaste all week and then goes hog wild on Saturday night--trying to ride a fence that isn't there.

I like the bigger bolder FONT of new CSB. Don't like smaller lighter font of RSV.

The CSB Q has a bolder font than the ESV Q or NKJV Q which is fine but it makes the verse numbers harder to find. As a preacher that’s a no go. The Q font is readable enough with making it bolder and making the verses harder to find is so a deal breaker.

Is the rsv font bigger than regular Quentel ?

No. For so many reasons. They are all personal and are pertinent to the layout of the Bible as well as the full yap (not a fan). I am going to see if others, such as Nelson, have printed this though. I have always thought of the RSV as the Catholic Bible (don't ask me why), but I really like the inclusion of the Apocrypha. Thanks for the review and your other video explaining why evangelical Bibles printed this one. :)
