In this video, we are replacing the original Can Am Spyder antenna with a shorter one from the company Scosche. The product is an RMA 900 short antenna.
My dad's antenna broke off while on the highway a couple of weeks back so i took this little project and made a video.
This was done on my 2010 RTS and i had some issues taking off the original antenna so i went ahead and included that solution which was to take out the side panel where the speaker is, took a bit longer but if this happens to you, now you have a bit of help.

Just removed the antenna on my 2018 and added the body colored cover. (I don't get very good FM around here and I have XM.) The process is slightly different on an '18 as there are some internal clips but the basic job is the same. I couldn't/wouldn't have done this without this video. BRAVO, PIERRE!

I had the same exact problem you did and could not twist the old antenna base out without taking my Spyder apart like you did. This video was extremely helpful. Thanks a bunch!!

The antenna on my 2015 RT broke right at the base. I removed the grommet and took out the brass fixture with a small metric deep socket. I replaced it with a stubby antenna. The entire job was about 5 minutes.

Thanks for the tips. I just broke my antenna and right after seeing your video I went to Walmart and bought the short antenna for Can$ 11.95. Will be changing it soon. I have a 2011 and my antenna base has those square edges so hopefully I will just need to key it off. Thanks again.

Awesome Video. The antenna on my 2010 RTS snapped off a couple of seasons ago I bought a small 1.5 inch Canadian Flag rubber ball from Dollarama and jammed it on the remaining 1/2 inch left of antenna :) I have been meaning to replace the antenna at some point but typically just listen to my ipod anyway.

A tiny 7mm closed-end wrench fit on mine OK (the micro-sized craftsman metric), but you can't turn it many degrees at first before hitting paint, so it was a little fiddly. But not as bad as removing the trim. I could not visualize what was going on as mine seemed to stay quite tight even though rotating, so I thought I was rotating a nut behind it. But I see now from your video that I could continue, and it did come out OK... What brand of antenna did you buy, and how is the reception, better or worse? Thanks again!

Hi Pierre; great Video I have two questions one is direct the other is kind of a sideline question. 1. Did you identify any replacement choices that are pure Stub Antenna's? the kind you currently see on newer cars that a virtually just a bump ;-) and if so what are they? 2. I love that purple pattern on you back trunk cover and sides! I have virtually the same bike, how do I get hold of that beautiful overlay?

When reinstalling my shortie, I skipped the drill and put silicone lube in the boot. Whe the shortie is tight, the lubed boot slips on surprisingly easily.

I ran a hidden antenna... sweet. Then I purchased the hole cover and TA DAAAAAA, no antenna in sight.

You really don't need locktight on it. Now you will not have a good hook up . Really don't need locktight on it

We did some testing since your comment about the loctite... Since we only put a little, we did not have any weaker signal. But i guess that riders can decide to put some or not, if they do, put just a little. Merci John.
