I'm going into this backwards. My introduction to RTB was stumbling across Kenneth's video explaining Pia had comitted suicide and I feel terrible for him and hope he keeps going himself.
I never rode a motorcycle until I was 58, but fully understand that smile at 5:10. Motorcycling adds something special to life, even the thought of motorcycling... Now in my 70th year, each time I have to stretch a little harder to throw my leg over the tank, I wonder how many more opportunities I will have for that great thrill of riding.... So glad to see your healing. May you be fully blessed in recovery.
You are absolutely right! If you first get hooked it is hard to quit 😝 I’m impressed that you started so late but I guess it is never too late to learn new skills 😛
Kenneth is looking better in this video, good to see him up and around. Saw your last blog post, so sorry about Amigo, you didn't need that just now. I know how hard a decision it is, my mom just went through the same thing with her little dog.
Thanks, Ryan! So sorry to hear your mom had to say goodbye to her dog, too. It's never a good time to say goodbye to such good friends, it will always hurt. Hugs to your mom!
Two wheel therapy is often the best mental recovery possible! Hope you’re both doing better and will be riding again soon. Thanks for this update on your progress and stay safe!
We could really use some two wheel therapy. Unfortunately the bikes are still in the shop waiting for parts and winter is coming. But come spring we are back on the road again 😛
I certainly understand having to wait till spring to ride. I was able to ride 4 of the last 5 days here. But, will be soon getting cold here too. Probably have a light snow tomorrow, 11/30! Maybe down to 25F. Still, we will have a lot of nice days in the 50’sF. Tennessee is far enough South in the USA to distinctly have all four seasons of the year. We are very fortunate to have Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter! You all be safe and hope you both are getting better. Good to see Kenneth out of the hospital and visiting the motorcycle shop. .....By the way, I have no idea what to name the Ténéré’s. Maybe, I’ll think of something to suggest! ........ how about: Jekyll & Hyde lol... maybe not .....
Well guys, I really enjoyed this video. After I watched your “crash” video I just had a sick feeling in my gut and each subsequent video showed your situation improving Kenneth; but I gotta say it--you looked like sh!t. But now-looking amazing. Seeing your bikes for some would trigger some PTSD stuff but you seem genuinely uplifted. Motorcycles are definitely medicine to some, and I believe now that you’ve walked out of the hospital and touched and sat on your bike, your pain will soon pass and recovery will accelerate. Let’s all hope eh. Carry on guys. Your both amazing.
Glad to hear! It's nice to present a healthier, quicker Kenneth =) He did look like shit, but thankfully now he looks heaps better =) It could have triggered some PTSD, but thankfully that wasn't on our mind. Taking the bikes for a ride will be the next test for PTSD. Thanks for your support, Bob!
Very glad to see Kenneth up and about. I was thinking of coffee names. The hybrids specifically. How about Kona and Java. Short, distinctive names. As always, best wishes.
Great to see that you have not lost the courage to drive, 37 years ago on the way south from Nordkapp to Denmark I had a serious accident on the E6 at Grong, I still drive both on and off road. You could name your Mc's a Sami name to remind you where the accidents happened, for example. Aili and Ailo
So sorry to hear you had a serious accident too! But it does inspire us that you're back on your bike now, both off and on road. Good job =) Sami names, that's a good idea since it happened where it happened =)
That feeling that you got when you got on the bike again Kenneth, that's GOLD😀👌👍🏻💪🏻 Good to see you guys smile! Good luck with your healing guys, wish you all the best!
Kenneth's is too good to see you smiling again, soon that gut will be fixed, laughs and you'll be strong to get back on the bikes and travel. Have a great recovery. I have a Tenere 660z and soon I will also start making my trips, I am just waiting for my son to grow up a little more so that I can go out into the world too. Well health and God bless you both. Hugs.
Thank you Harry 🙂 I can't wait to get back on the bike 😛 Where are you planning on going when you get to leave? Maybe you can even bring your son along? 😝
@@RidetheBean Hi Kenneth's I have a dream of going to Ushuaia at the end of South America almost in antartida and then going up to Alaska, but that's only about 5 years from now, when I will have more time. And by then, maybe T7 will have arrived in Brazil, which is banning entry due to the emission gases that come out of the exhaust. Hard to believe but it's true. kkkkkk! Health and big hug.
Very encouraging to see you up and about. Possible names: Rocky - because he keeps getting up. Florence - the amazing woman who changed nursing forever. Cheers from downunder.
Hey guys, so good to see Kenneth out and about...and sitting on the bike was a milestone on the road to recovery! And Pia's smile cheering us all up!. So this video was very 'Ride the Bean '...it had you guys smiling and talking...it had bikes...and it had coffee ☕ big hug 🤗 to you both 🤗 Cheers, Steve
Have the local authoritys, erected barriers, put signs in place, repaired the bridge, done anything, to prevent this from happening again, great to see Ken outside.
So amazing to see you much better and smiling again Ken!! Really happy for you both, and seing you smiling also when you get together with your bike just shows how much you care for them and determined you are to get back on the road and "take" us all with you too!! As for the names, I''ll go for your amazing Norse mythology warriors like you two are. Ken's Bike: Magni and Pia's bike: Sigrun. Big hug of best wishes!! ❤
So glad to see you up and about again. 2 years ago i also had a really bad crash that took more than a year to recover from but i am back on my bike and so will you be soon enough. Take care!
So good to see you guys with your bikes again! 💓 Personally, I would name my bike a name that relates to the crash you guys and your bikes survived. Tank : because your bike has a dented tank and because it came out with little damage after a crash like that. Siren : because of the legendary sirens in water and because the cops came to the rescue. 😏 😁
this really puts things into perspective when we crash. The bikes can be easily fixed and or replaced, compared to us. Good to see kenneth get right back on his bike. I've seen quite a few riders get hurt and immediately sell their bikes. Ultimately it's an individual choice. I do believe that riding "off the beaten track", does reduce speeds and usually serious injury or death. Simply do what you enjoy.
That is true. I do understand why people hang up their gear after a crash. But at the same time I don't. If you enjoy riding you are aware of the risks and just have to accept them. No reason not to get back on the bike 😛 But I do think it will take a bit of time before I am as confident as I was.
@@RidetheBean I've seen many crashes due to riding simply too fast and above skill level. One must keep ego in check. I realize this wasn't your situation at all. I think the trick is to ride around 80 percent of your top speed and continually practice. Once mental or physical fatigue occurs it's usually best to slow down and call it a day. Most aspects i'm referring to are riding, what we term "single track" in eastern Canada, on much smaller displacement bikes. I own a 12gs as well and believe a great many of the skills learned riding single track on the smaller bikes, are transferable to the big bikes, with less a faster learning curve. I'm not saying it would have saved either one of you, but as soon as I hit the dirt on my gs, i'm standing. This allows me to absorb unexpected objects, have better control, and a better vision of what is ahead. Obviously, one needs a certain skill set to brake and shift while standing. Chirs Birch, one of the best hard enduro riders does both big and small bike classes around the globe. We've had him do them in Ontario Canada the last few years. Great guy. this should make you smile. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JWIZfYQhgMc.html
It's just amazing that humpty and dumpty looks so good, hopefully they didn't find to much wrong with the bikes when they repaired them!! The K looks so happy, tired but happy :-)
What great therapy for you both to see your bikes again. You sound much stronger Kenneth and you look radiant Pia. I hope to see you both rding again before too long :)
It's great to see you out and about Kenneth and to see you both reunited with your metal steads. Pia, you look so happy in this video, it's moving to see. I really enjoyed watching this and seeing you both so happy again (dispite the f*****g food tube 😂). Keep getting better Kenneth. I wish you both well.
Great to see Kenneth moving so well! Nice to see smiles on both of your faces; stay positive, you have a long road ahead, but together you'll get there!!
Tristan & Isolde I am really sorry for you guys having this unfortunate accident. I am very glad that I see You again with your T7's. Keep on riding! That is the only way! Be well! From Romania ...RolandMoto
Glad to see you recovered! In China we usually gave our kids a sleazy shitty nickname cuz olders were believing that shitty names will not attract devil's attention hence kids can get away from unfortunateness and grow up healthily. So I would follow my Chinese tradition and highly recommand names for the bikes as "git", "numpty" or "leftover". I wish both of you and your bikes speedy recover and riding on the road again! safely!
Bloody hell guys just caught up with your channel. Nobody would of seen that river. Hoping you're soon back riding, and carrying on with your dream. Best wishes from the UK.
Just found you guys. Tough ditch to come across!! Names how about Rocky. He got the heck beat out of him and came back to conquer the world championship. And the other, Zina The Warrior Princes. Tough. Beautiful and gets up after a beating. My choices from here in Canada. :)
Yeah, that ditch was pretty rough on us. But we're still here =) Cool, Rocky did handle his beating well. Thanks for the ideas! On another note: do you think Zina and Rocky would like each other?
10:52 is Einundalen, Norway. You can see more from that trip here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V94s5PAMiSQ.html Such a beautiful place!!!
So nice to se Kenneth smile and looking a alive again. Thank you for sharing. The bikes looks pretty much oki besides the cosmetic things. Lots of hugs and love from sweden 💓💓💓.
There is nothing more I want than to get back on the bike. Unfortunately they are still waiting for parts and winter is coming. But in spring we are back on the road for new adventures 🙂
Every little step is a step forward. Don’t worry Kenneth, more sooner than later you’ll be eating a beautiful steak! 💪🏻👌🏻😃getting out if the hospital will give you some fresh are To look forward. The bikes are not so damaged as I expected. Important is that tue frames must be not bend!! Everything else is just cosmetics!! I would name your Bike: “AMIGA” in honor to your beautiful friend you recently lost!!😢 Pías bike I still don’t know... please show next week what repairs are going to be done at the bikes!!!👌🏻😎⚡️greetings from Hannover and waiting for you guys in next spring!!
That is true. I can eat more and more each day 🙂 The workshop went over the bikes and said they would be fixable, so I assume the frame was whole. We did really have a close look at them. I like that name suggestion. Thanks 🙂 The bikes are still in the shop and will be there over winter. But in spring when we get to rode them again we will talk a bit more about what was done to them before we head off on our journey again.
Happy to see you Kenneth! Keep up the good recovery and patience, heal fully as the bikes can wait. I also expected more damage, especially the front fork and wheel. I got some names for you, some are couples and some have a interesting story. Ragnar & Lagertha, Floki & Torvi, Loki & Sigyn, Gambit & Rogue, Aragorn & Arwen, Sammeal & Graendal, Nymeria & Ghost, Snow & Ygritte, Tyrion & Arya, Havok & Ivy, Sakura & Sasuke, Kitsune & Misaki, Wolf & Raven, Valerian, Atreyu, Kael, Aeryn. Geri & Freki, Skalli & Hati.
Oh man ... what a journey you've had. I wonder why you need the permanent pump thing in a backback ... can't you spend a few hours without food going into your system? When you got back up on your bike I could sense the emotions going on. It's like you reclaimed a part of your self. All the best you two!
Hi Daniel! If the feeding tube ended up in his stomach, we could have given him meals with the food, by setting the pump to up to 400ml/hr. But Kenneth's problem is further down than the stomach, and his tube ends in his small intestine. The maximum advised speed is 115ml/hr. That speed worked some days, but others he got nauseous and we lowered it to 70ml/hr. The liquid has 1,5kcal/ml, and he needs at least 3000 kcals/day to gain weight. So that's why the pump had to work almost 24/7 😊
Unfortunately I got introduced to your channel after Pia’s passing. Makes it difficult to enjoy your videos now, I hope you know what I mean. I wish you lots of strength to continue and may Pia have found her peace. Greetings from 🇩🇪🇦🇺
Fantastic to see you together and with your bikes. How come you sat on your bike Kenneth and you didn't cry, but I nearly did ! I see the suggestion of Thor and Freya and I doubt I can better that. However, how about Fire and Ice...a burning passion for riding and ice cool under pressure ? Both of you have demonstrated all of these emotions in your trip so far and so much more to come. The heat of the deserts to the ice of the Alpine massif. There you have it...Fire and Ice...maybe you choose :)
Wow man you look SO much better than few weeks ago, you're you again. Congrats. I have a T700 and have a plan to long travel, was following your channel and preps with emotion and was truly shocked with what happened, at first I thought it was a prank. Anyhow, it shocked me like no video before and made me think a lot, I am taking different measures to try to avoid an accident like this, will wear upper body hard protection and will check Google earth for roads and crosses like this, anyhow, accidents cannot be avoided, that's why they're called accidents. I truly hope you reach full recover soon and resume the trip. Hugs from Spain, will be waiting for you to pass through on your way to South
Yeah I feel better each day. I was lucky. Where are you planning on going? and when? Glad you took something away from the videos 🙂 We learned a lot ourselves and its good to hear others also took something from it 🙂 Like you say, accidents happen and we just have to use them as lessons 🙂
Please to see Kenneth out - he is better able to get his leg over the bike than I can now... (Carl). Glad you are both happy to see the bikes - many people would have said "never again" Good to see the Trondheim Yamaha dealer - we visited in 2017 when we needed brake pads for the Tiger - they stayed open a few extra minutes to give us time to get there - pass on our thanks! Names? Pia's bike: Eir - Goddess of healing Kenneth's bike: Meili - God of travel (how to pronounce them both, I don't know...) Keep the recovery going and look forward to next weeks episode. xxx
We have been bitten by the bug. It will take more than a crash like this for us not to want to ride again 😛 The guys at the Yamaha store are amazing! They have helped us out so much. I'll say hi next time I speak to them 😛 Good names. Thank you 🙂
Well ... You got two sorts of coffee. The Nutty Bean and the Fruity Bean. So call your Bikes "Nutty" and "Fruity".😉👍 I called my T700 "Rocinante". Like Don Quijote's Horse was called.😁🤘
😁 If you called them "Nutty" and "Fruity" you can "Ride Your Bean" . 😉 I call my Ténéré "Rocinante", 'cause sometimes she is a little bit bitchy and toss me off😝
Great to see you reuniting with your bikes. Just a matter of time before you head off again. Hang in there you will get your health back and be exploring the world soon enough. I have no idea about names though. Sadly my bike is just called bike.
A great day! Outside the hospital and reunited with the T700s. Motorcycles are life for many of us. We know who we are. The tube survived. I'm grinning ear to ear! The bikes can and will be fixed good as new and I see coffee every day in your near future, Kenneth. I like Sven Onnerstad's suggestion for bike names, Held and Lykke. Good Luck. Stay strong. Gordon in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Hi Gordon! We're so happy to finally make it out a little bit. Glad to hear you're grinning! Thanks for your support =) Another vote for Held and Lykke is noted :)
Kenneth's should be called 'Bernard' (sounds like a good solid reliable name) and Pia's should be called 'Xena' (Good warrior princess name), or maybe 'Celia' - don't know why - LOL. So good to see you guys with your bikes, cheered me up:)
I like Simons names Thor and Freya Glad your getting back to normal plan for the future and stay safe If you haven’t already done it take a advanced motorbike course it’s a eye opener.
Those are good names. We wanted to do one, but the guy never got back to us. Then we got to know a few crazy and very experienced riders who took us out and bought us a lot. Since then we have been practicing a lot by ourselves and met up with them now and then for more training. We still have a lot to learn though. So if we get the chance we would like to do more training 🙂
My son use to eat through an NG tube and now a G tube twice a day and now he has a backpack with the pump. You hospital stay seems familiar to me. Wish i found your videos sooner.
Nice to see you up and running :) Soon you will be on teh road again . About the names ... well I got one at least ... Phoinix.... the bird that whenever he dies he raise from the flames and start to live again .... just like you and your bikes :) have a nice day
