I'm so glad that you've included benchmarks for Blender, as I mainly want to upgrade my GPU just for my 3d work. I currently have a GTX 1650 and it was the only GPU I could get due to the shortage at the time, in 2021. I think the 4070 GPU, despite the 4090 having the highest benchmark points for Blender, will be a huge upgrade for me never the less. Thanks so much for making this review! EDIT: For further clarification; when I was building my pc at the time in 2021, I only wanted to use it to play games such as Minecraft, TF2 etc.,. I had no intention in getting an RTX card at the time. Shortly after building my PC, I developed an interest in 3d modelling & animation but, I knew later on down the line I needed to get an RTX card to get faster render times.
Solid video and review. Thank you. Coming from a 970 (with mid range and 1440 gaming in mind), i think this is already considered a HUGE upgrade, in terms of price, performance and value.
I upgraded from a GTX 1660 Super OC to the Asus Dual RTX 4070 and I'm very pleased with the performance at 1440p resolution with relatively low power consumption vs AMD cards which are more power hungry. The 4070 is pricey but if u wait a bit the prices might go lower creating a good buying opportunity.
As a 1070ti owner, the 4070 is a 200% increase in performance. I'd be cool with it, but I'd also be sticking to 1080p, and barely using RTX. I'd be building an itx, so I feel it would be better for me, but 100% I'm waiting for a sale.
Still on my 1070. Was waiting to see what the rtx 4060 ti is like but the 4060's look garbage (from what we know so far). Thinking of buying the Asus rtx 4070 seen here instead... still love my 1070 though lol.
200% performance increase......seven years later....for the same price. That's not an upgrade at all. 4070 isn't even mid range, it's low end. 4070 performance was mid range like 3-4 years ago. YEARS.
@@peoplez129 3 years ago with had 3080 that was high end and 4070 is almost beating it easy on 2/3 of the price dependign on whatn you bought the 3080 even half the price.
Nice review! Kinda like the sleek and compact design of the GPU. Might out from the video topic but I currently saving myself upgrading my build coming from r3 3200G and RX470 and want to go for 3060 since it's within my budget around RM4,000 alongside with R5 5600G. But is it worth to go for 3060 when I hit that saving target just for the cheap RTX experience, or should I try to look out for 4060 if it came out?
3060 u really cannot play RTX 3060Ti is where it starts to get a lil better. I would just save a little more and go 4060 or 4070. Depending on what u use your PC for, going Ryzen 5 3600 is also not a bad idea to save a few bucks.
Im puzzled why my 4070 dual oc is only grtting 17100 on graphics score on timespy when your card is reaching over 17600. Thats a substantial gap. Do you know why that may be ? Fyi im not cpu bottled necked during the test as i have a 5800x3d snd my gpy usage is at 99% . Thanks Edit - I thought I'd add it's boosts to a max of 2715 MHz during the test and maxed out at 65c
Hey, great review. But I have a question about the Asus Dual specifically. How are the acoustics on it? Is there any noticeable coil whine, or loud choppy fan sounds?
I'm freaking confused for the last couple of weeks. I'm willing to buy Legion 7 Gen 7 AMD Advantage. This Laptop has Ryzen 9 6900HX, Radeon RX6850M XT 12 GB Graphic card, 32 gb ram, 2 TB SSD. It now costs around 2180 USD (previously it was 2800). Will it be better than 3070ti? or will this gpu equally perform with RTX 4070? And will it be good enough for solid content creation? please give me a reply.
@@GamerBoy001G the gpu is really good, but you can’t really compare it to desktop gpus, especially the ones we have today because like he said laptops have thermal and power limitations, and overall can’t perform as well as desktop gpus
Do you think is worth 200 more euros for a 4070 TI, instead of 4070? I play Fifa, GTA V, RDR 2, CS:GO, Forza Horizon. I'm upgrading from a GTX 1070. I found the Gygabite 4070 Gaming at 735 euros and the 4070 TI at 900-950 euros.
Im building my first PC with this card. It will be a generational upgrade for me as my PS4 struggles to run most games like Warzone, Fortnite, Rocket League at 60 FPS anymore. Im impressed with the stats but price not so much ($663). Although at my $1300 budget i didnt really have many choices, as in my country most items are sold at a markup price beacuse of the import fee's from the US or other countries manufacturer's. Just got to find the right case now to keep it cool, and a decent motherboard for my 5600x.
Great video. Subscribed! I think I'm going to grab a 4070 over the 4070ti. For me, it's cost first but space next. Having compact card choices that will fit comfortably in my mid-tower is a big W for me. My cap is around 320 mm, and even the smallest 4070 ti would barely fit, from what I've seen, no 4080 or above cards would fit. I could get a riser/riser cable (pcie 4.0 compatible) but that's just additional cost added to an already expensive purchase. I see that some of the good riser cables on amazon cost $40 usd or more. This definitely puts me in that bad gap where it would be better to just get the 4080, which is way outside of my price range. Considering that the 4070 is less power hungry, uses the 8-pin connector still, only needing one at that, along with being reasonable in size. It's kind of hard to say no to it, considering I'm upgrading from the 2060. I wish it was a bit cheaper and had more VRAM. I know it's GDDR6X which is an improvement over the basic GDDR6, but 12GB is not very future proof, the 2060 I'm upgrading from has 12GB of VRAM. It would need to be 256-bit to really utilize more though. For this price, it actually should be.
From a 2060, the 4070 would be a better upgrade because I'd wager that you would probably need a slight PSU upgrade to go to a 4070Ti or 4080. Like I said, the price is decent. I wouldn't call it great but yea. It's not a bad buy.
@@MOBHouse Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I actually just upgraded my power supply late last year. Got a 1000w PSU from Asus for a good price. I could run a more powerful card just fine but I'm on a budget. I just don't feel like I can justify the cost of the 4070ti, and all the 30 series cards still way overpriced.
do 4070 required the new PSU with ATX3.0? If not perhaps good for older build. I want to build new PC, in my country 4070 priced around $720 for MSI ventus OC 3X. pretty close to lower end 4070 Ti model. since 4070 so efficient. can we somehow OC to at least match 3080 Ti performance? I hope so.
If you don't care about raytracing, I would also suggest an RX 6700XT. I found it was very close to 3070 performance and had that extra VRAM buffer to futureproof a bit, and the price (in comparison to 3070) is definitely right. That said, this feels like a card that can definitely stay relevant for more than two years.
You have missed the real breakthrough of the 40 series, DLSS3. And the very low power consumption. What I think the problem is here is that the gaming industry is behind the GPU technology at the moment, especially until engines like Unreal 5 become commonplace.
Just gone from a like 7 year old GPU (stopped getting updates 5 years ago for it apparently) to the 4070 Dual streamer/content creator GPU and oh my... im amazed
I think its worth the upgrade because most people want 12GB of DDR6X ram nowadays, one thing not many if any reviewers test these GPUS with MSFS (Microsoft flight simulator) as i think it is the most power hungry sim / game out there. nice review.
I'll be building my first gaming PC soon , most likely will be upgrading to a 1440p monitor in upcoming years (Wont be playing 4k in future) . Other than gaming , I also do programming , video editing and also blender. Does it worth it RTX4070 with given market price or should I get the older generations graphic card / wait for RTX4060ti ?
I paired it with a 500W PSU, but I only have a 65W (with turbo boost to 90W) CPU, so it should be fine? 8:07 What do you mean by 539W Max here? Does the card alone power-spike this high? LTT measured the max to 220W or so I think. I have a cooler master PSU, and their calculator said I was well within limits even with a 3070 which draws more power than the 4070 🤔
@@MOBHouse Ok. So the max here is for the full system with the i9? Then I should be fine at least, considering the 13900k draws about 160W more than my CPU :) Thanks for the reply
I'm looking for an upgrade (from a 3060ti) and I haven't decided between this one or an asus rog 3080 (bear in mind the asus rog is second hand) for 1080/1440p gaming (at the moment I have an 1080p display but want to upgrade for an 1440p display later) For more content I have a 650w psu and I don't intend to upgrade it....regarding prices they really similar. Which one should I pick? 😅
i men i just order one asus dual rtx4070 oc here in portugal for almost msrp. and im waitting for my baby to arrive so i can stick it in to my rig and go bang bang vurn burn all wekkend off!!tanks for your vid men !great review!
The 4070 DIE size is lower than the 3060ti and a very small amount bigger than 3060. We got bamboozled. It really is a 4060 at 4070ti pricing (what it should have been in a normal world).
@Thomas Shears Well - Last year I could just squeeze out enough money to buy a RTX 3070Ti, but this year a RTX4070Ti is completely out of range. It's at least $300 more expensive than the previous generation. That's way above inflation level, so the greed-level is extremely high for this generation of cards. I use to upgrade the "XX70Ti" series every generation, but for the first time in many years NVIDIA has managed to break this cycle. I guess I am not the only one that gives up completely. I just cannot afford it anymore. NVIDIA has priced themselves out of the comfort zone. Sad but true...
i relaly strongly consider this , i have gtx 1660 ti, my ps uis 550w, and cpu r5 3600, as benchmarks show for 1440 and 4k 60fps gaming this is perfect, i dont need upgrade anything, just waiting in my country asus dual hit msrp
Rocking an H210i with a GPU clearance of 280mm length and 44m depth, unfortunately the ASUS card wouldn’t fit, but PNY have a dual card which does fit. Will be a nice upgrade to my current 2070super pushing triple 1440s on IRacing.
Yes if you buy it at MSRP or lower. Also, don't put in a PSU bigger than a good 80 plus gold 650-700W no matter how much ppl try to upsell you. There is an abundance of PSUs from 850-1000+W that were produced to meet mining demands. You absolutely don't need it.
I ordered an ASUS Dual RTX 4070, it should be arriving by/on the 21st of this month (April); it’ll be replacing my old GTX 1080, at barely a higher power draw, which is great in my use case since it means I won’t have to replace my PSU for another couple of years still. And I play at 1080p at 60FPS/Hz, per the limitations of the TV I’m using as my “monitor”. I don’t plan on moving up to 1440p for some time, and having this card on hand is a good means of being ready for that jump immediately (at the time).
big channels (probably AMD sponsosed) claiming 8GB cards are stuttering if their vram gets exceeded and my man here uploading benchmarks of RE 4 remake at 4k and his 8GB 3070 card doing fine. Keep up the honest work bro.
I would add that only think about RT at 1080P, the significant increase in vram requirements for modern titles show that even turning on RT in 1440p can crash cards with 12gb vram. Look at RE4 remake, TLOU remake, Hogwart's Legacy etc.
Thanks for this review. This is the card I went for. Upgrading from an RTX 2060 ref. This is the most that I've ever paid for a GPU. I still can't believe I'm paying that much for a GPU (£600 UK). My 2060 was only £315. Before that, it was a 970 and that was £280. Insane jump IMO, but I want an upgrade.
@@MOBHouse Yeah it is really awesome but the price kinda sucks but what you gonna do when they control the market pretty much and a decent AMD card is just as expensive and the ray tracing on them is not as good as NVIDIA.
Yea man. PC gamers fall into 2 main categories: Those who care about FPS and those who care about eye candy. I am from team eye-candy and I haven't game without RTX On since it came out. XD
I currently have a 1660ti with an old i7 4790 cpu. My upgrade at end of year will almost certainly be the Asus Dual 4070, alongside a Ryzen 7900 in order to build a low power and temperature build that has good performance. I'm not interested in 4k gaming for a desktop PC, nor running at hundred plus frames. I want to play games on ultra at 1440p at 60fps. With ray tracing on hopefully.
This is the card I'm having my eye on lately (maybe the Asus TUF with the 3 fans as well), but the cheapest I've found it, at least in my country, is 750 euros after tax ($830). It's just a ridiculous amount of money for the cheapest implementation of a mid-range card. I'm gonna wait for a possible price drop for the moment, maybe even see what AMD comes up with in the summer. I'm upgrading from a 970 btw, so yeah... it's been a while.
Thanks for that, I am not going to rush out and buy one. ASUS Dual1070, CP2077 at ultra 1080p and it plays fine and looks good. I skipped the 20 series and got ready to buy a 30xx something and now its well I waited this long to upgrade.....Roll On 50 series, maybe amd 7900. Cheers.
I think if you go for the absolute base models, it will be worth it. Looking at the temps we got with this absolute bottom barrel Asus card and I was already impressed. You don't 3 fans and a massive heatsink or anything more than a single 8 pin with this card that's for sure
You listed 4070 ti as being around $699. I don't know if this is a typo or if prices are better where you're from, but neither Europe or the North Americas have the 4070ti that low. And I'm laughing at how you said you weren't a fan of eco friendly packaging 😆 Don't know if you're being serious or not but that's the one thing I personally don't hold against companies. Even if it means sacrificing fancier packages. Btw, Where's the thermal and acoustic numbers? You mentioned it but I don't recall seeing any graphs or diagrams?
I wasn't a fan of how they did the eco friendly packaging because here in Malaysia I know that 90% of people actually keep their GPU boxes. But yes, I was only half joking. The thermal and acoustic numbers are at 3:04
8 months later and it is now priced at $550 with the 4070 super set to launch at an msrp of $599, which is predicted to drive the price of the 4070 prices lower. I say that all to point out that AMD will also have to change their prices to fight NVIDIA's new competitive prices, so hopefully the 7800xt or even the 7900xt prices will fall.
I have ordered this ASUS RTX 4070 Dual card today. I have RTX 2070 in my current 4 years old gamer computer (i9, 32gb ram, asus gamer motherboard, 1T SSD, 3T HDD). It has brilliant bottleneck performance, so this computer will be ok for 3 years at least. Moreover it consumes a little less electricity than the 2070 so my current 650W power supply is ok.
im coming from a 1660 ti, recently built a whole new computer except for the graphics card now running the i5-13600k cpu so my 1660ti isnt keeping up. My case is pretty small and this gpu seems good so I might buy it.
As of what I’ve compared and balanced between pricing , it’s averagely good enough to not have gaming issues. Which is like you said for every mid gamer range. Plus 600$ bucks to upgrade from no graphic card and surpassing a 3070 , is fairly priced. Especially if you already have a tower build but have no GpU . I feel it’s worth the cost at the moment and also the prices go down when newer stuff comes so that’s also a big plus .
I think because of the segmentation of people playing at 1080p, 1440p and 4k, companies have segmented the product line too. 1080p is entry, 1440p is midrange and 4k is high end. The 4090 is ultra high end halo product. Entry is up to 500, midrange is up to 1000 and high end is up to 1500. I am pretty sure this is how they rationalize this and i'm also pretty sure this is reviewer's fault. Because nobody says the 4080 is a 4k card apart from reviewers. Back in the days, people were just saying X card is 20% faster than Y card, not X card is a 4k card and Y card is a 1440p card. In 4 years, the 4080 will be a midrange to entry level card, it will not stop existing because 4k require more power and it will still be able to run already existing games just fine. Now, the damage is done and if the card is capable of playing at 4k, you will have to pay a premium because after all, you got a 4k pannel, so you have the money. No matter if what you want is 500fps at 1080p today and 100 in 4 years without having to upgrade.
1080p have been largely irrelevant ever since the 30 series IMO. 1440p and 4K is where its at. And how current gen consoles don't support 1440p, it's no wonder that prices for 4K displays are coming down like crazy. Even with a 4070Ti, I would recommend ppl just turn on DLSS or lower settings a little and game in 4K. That ultimately is why this whole mid range thing is kinda blurred and largely why I think the 4070 makes more sense than the 4070Ti because you might also need to upgrade your PSU just to jump to that 4070Ti.
I moved to Alberta from Abbotsford almost 20 years ago. Never looked back. The Canadian dollar was actually stronger than the US dollar back when Harper was Prime Minister. The people kicked him out and invited traitor Trudeau to take the wheel. He wants to divide and destroy Canada.
I'm pretty much desensitized because I paid 650dlls for a 1660s back in Feb 2022, and at the moment I felt that was a steal because it was 800 Dlls a few months back I live in a small town, and with mining and covid it was very hard to find an affordable card Since it's a 1440p card would probably wait for the 60 or amd equivalent Most exited of the low power draw of these new gpus
You're right about that power draw. But we shouldn't desensitize ourselves to these prices, mainly because we all know that post COVID, a recession is looming... Every dime counts.
@@MOBHouse It is quite the battle, constantly remembering my self that altho it's a better price of what it was mid pandemic, it's still not what it should cost, comparing price/performance, jumps in performance between generations, this indeed is in the range of a 4060, the 4070 it's a really good card I would love to have as a 1080p gamer, but not in that price I really hope AMD gets his act together and steps up with the next upcoming graphics cards
Susah for me to accept a 200w TGP card using more than dual slot, especially since on average it uses 180w.closely looking at Palit and inno3d dual slot dual fan card
I mean, I kinda agree with that statement but coolers outside of blower style ones are going to pump hot air into your case, so I'd rather it run a few degrees cooler than worry about that 0.5 expansion slot. Just my 2 cents after building quite a few ITX builds.
nioe nuff not said, we need the rtx 4070 to be its real price of 2250-300 uk pounds because at best its a friging 4060 with a masive price hike and we can not justify even 599. We need to give nvidia a true wake up call and moving the stack while inflating prices beyond the ridiculas needs to be a lesson .
Mixed feelings about the RTX4070 I do know it as a big increase of L2 cache which could help, dunno $599 U.S is still steep mite consider at $550 and below.
One of the buggiest games ever, but also one of the most popular is Fallout 4. It tends to crash a lot if you run it without precombined graphics which a lot of mods for the game will do (like scrap everything). Running an RX580 8Gb is not keeping up. I'm hoping this card will help the situation and allow some of those game mods to be played.
In Canada the 4070 is $800 cad which is cheaper than 6800 xt and 3070 ti, only better value card than this in Canada is 6700xt at $500 cad but this card is substantially more powerful than the 6700xt with less power consumption. Even the 3080 is $900-$1400
@@MOBHouse $489 was the cheapest I’ve seen in the past few weeks for the Asrock challenger D, 6700xt is probably the best option in Canada if RT isn’t important otherwise the 4070 is just simply priced better than any other GPU here
