Dan thanks so much for all the hard work. Finally someone bench marking Sim racing titles! I'm ready to upgrade and running triple 34"(7680 X 1440)@ 144hz it looks like the 4090 with Ryzen 7700 should be more than enough for iracing with a little head room. Coming from a 2080ti and 5820K cpu will be a well deserved worthwhile upgrade well over due.

Very informative video , I play ACC in VR on a 3080ti and it's very demanding , I'm also a streamer and use a two PC setup because OBS can take up to 25% of the GPU simply by opening the app , I have a 4090 arriving Wednesday and looking forward to playing ACC on VR Epic settings and maintaining a good frame rate , thanks 👍

Those performance increases are crazy! I don't think the card would fit in any of my current builds with the rad mounted up front though haha

Great stuff Dan, this is truly a game changer for simracing. If you have time, try a slight undervolt and see how much down on power you can go before you lose performance. Some interesting results have been seen where perf might actually increase initially, with greatly reduced wattage. It would be interesting if this also could apply to triple screen scenarios. Keep up the good work!

Hi Dan, Any chance you could do some benchmarks on different CPUs. I'd be very interested to see how the 4090 goes with the 5800x3d vs 7950 vs 12900k. Particularly at triple 1440p or triple 4k. I race with a Pimax 8kx being driven by a 3080 and a 5600x, I'm keen to get an idea of how much extra I would get with a CPU upgrade as well as a 4090? or if I should just get a 4090 and skip this generation of CPUs

Hello Thank you for this video and your work I have almost the same configuration as you i9 12900 and 4090 with 3 2k Samsung odyssey g5 165h screens I only manage to have 140 fps and when I’m on the stands I fall to 80 or 70 is what you can tell me if you put everything fully in settings or what you didn’t put like the mirrors....

How the hell almost 60 fps by 2160p triples. With my setup 5800x not 3d, 32gb ddr 4 @ 3200 mhz and a 4090 of get about 70 fps on vr reverb g2, which is equivalent to 6k resolution. Do the CPU bottlenecking ? Openxr toolkit says frametimes for gpu over 11.1ms and for cpu below 11.1ms. Is it worth it to switch to Ryzen 7800x3d for ams2 and Acc?

Hi Dan, it would be nice if you showed your graphics settings both on iRacing and on the Nvidia panel so that all those like you (and like me) who have a 4090 can squeeze it to the maximum to have adequate detail but at the same time a level of frames per second high to be super smooth in game. I've been playing ACC on triple 4k OLEDs on a 3080ti with DLSS on and it's perfectly playable...no complaints at all. The 4090 will just take it to another level. Not sure why people think 60-100fps is "not playable".

Do you think you will be benchmarking the Intel Arc A770? I would be interested in performance in ACC, Rf2 and iRacing. The flagship card from NVIDIA and AMD are insane, but at least for me the price is not justifiable anymore. But I really need to upgrade my dying 1080

Hi Dan. You can set 11520x2160p@120hz? I have a cables, monitor and 3080, and i cant set this, the monitors lost signal aleatory. At 60 hz ok. Please, how you can do this if possible.

Could someone tell me how to connect three 4k 144hz monitors at the same time to a 4090? On RU-vid there are many videos where they show setups with 4k triples at 144hz, so there must be some way to do it, but no one says how to connect them. There is a limitation on the 4090 and only two monitors can be activated with DSC at a time. I'm trying triple 4k for simracing, but I'm about to give up. I have got 4090 zotac and tripple Asus rog pg27uqr. Does the 4090 ROG strix allow these 3 monitors to be connected?

By the way Dan, I was just wondering how close you are to iRacing's 8GB VRAM limit when using the 4K triples setup? Because that seems to equal 24,883,200 pixels if I'm not mistaken. However, when trying to supersample with my Pimax 8KX, from memory (I don't currently have a GPU to check), the most I could supersample to before iRacing would start culling ingame textures (because of being over iracing vram limit), was around 16,000,000 pixels (I know the 3090 is capable of around 20-30,000,000 in other sims). So, I was just curious as to how you have been able to push this many pixels without coming across the same issue? It kills me that this is the main sim I play and that it is the only sim I can't make full use of my VR headset/GPU on (let alone a 4090 lol). Thank you. If anyone else knows the answer to this also, please feel free to chime in. Much apreciated. 🙏🙂

I have 3x2k triples with 3080 and 11700kf, 32gb ddr2. I bought 4090 and does not have such a high fps you you Dan. Am i heavily bottlenecked with cpu? I am thinking about build 13900k same as u have and ddr5 6000mhz …hope it will be on the same figures

tests in dirt 2, rfactor 2, raceroom, automobilista 2? i have triple 7680 x 1440p, ryzen 5800x from what i see a 4090 will make a huge bottleneck on this 5800x processor and all the games named above, or I'm wrong?

That's weird I am running a 3090 with an i711700k running at 5.1, and I'm not getting near those numbers running triples at 1080. Could you please share the settings you using in iracing for the test?

Looking forward to VR benchmarks. I'm amazed you were able to get a new cable for HP Reverb G2. It's been out of stock every time I've checked past 4 months...my reverb has been unusable since the cable died.

Starts are more CPU limited because you have more draw calls for more geometry

Saw something about the 4090 that it still better in many scenarios if you run it on 60% power limit and it draws like 33% less power for like power lost about 10% in synthetic benchmarks so it’s most likely less for games would be nice to know how it performes under these scenarios and how the power draw is there

Did you notice stuttering and frame pacing issues when CPU limited or with capped FPS? I was concerned with 4090s for sim racing because Digital Foundry reported tons of frame pacing issues when the 4090 is not working at 100%, and I imagined (and you showed) the 4090 frequently can work at less than 100% for sim racing.

Can you post your in game settings you used for these tests. Im having performance issues only in iRacing at 7680x1440p with my 4090 and think its a CPU bottleneck with my 12700k. I was doing better on my 3090

Currently have a 5800X3D, 4090, triple 1440p and for whatever reason the frames are capped at about 170 and I’m averaging around 130 and no matter what I do it doesn’t go any higher than 170FPS

7950x with a 4090, new am5 mb, new psu and ddr5 6000…. Ours is not a cheap hobby, specially in Europe, where msrp is way higher then in USA these days.

It maybe mind blowing, but it is also damn expensive. Plus most will need a new computer system to fit it in. Money does not grow on trees and all this just to play games??? I will stick with the RTX-3080TI and live with what it provides. I have seen enough reviews on the RTX-4090.

This GPU so far impressed me in VR, playing Pimax 8KX at it's normal FOV + rendering quality simply to max (2.0), running Max settings literally on Assetto Corsa or even ACC and does 90fps stable with just 5% of the time drops to 80fps, simply amazing makes Pimax alot better than what my 3080 was doing, I calculate approx 3X performance of 3080 in these games..... F1 2022 VR is garbage so maxing it out it can do 90fps but issue is GPU chilling at 65% usage lol while quality is not as good as other games, the SS tech in F1 2022 with VR is rubbish

With a 4090/13900k/triple 4k, on ACC I have DLSS set to quality and use a mix of epic and high settings. I'm getting around 100-110 fps at the beginning of the race and around 130 after the first couple laps. Not sure why your frame rate is struggling so much.

What about VR performance? The 3090 can comfortably handle all the benchmarks you threw at it here. Why not benchmark VR which is something people might want to upgrade for?
