Hi Martin, thank you so much for the wealth of information, not only in this video but in all the others as well. My wife and I have yet to even buy an RV as we are about two years out and have learned so much from your videos. With many out there on RU-vid and what have you, I tend to always revert back to yours as your MOI is very easy to follow and you explain things patiently and with repetition. Cheers
Thank you so much for your support but now I have to tell you that Martin has passed away from cancer and I don't have the answers for your questions. Sorry
That is terrible news. I was actually hoping to meet up with him some fay while on the road. He was great. I tell everyone about him. I will truly miss him and what a loss to mankind. I will continue to watch his videos and purchase from his amazon store so long as it helps you out Joannie.
Martin, I so look forward to your videos every week. You have definitely found your niche. I consider you and Chad from Changing Lanes to be the best place to find PM and notable upgrades. I look forward to meeting you and your DW someday.
Thank you for your time and effort to help us take care of our second home. Very good video. Your wife is a great camera person. Has a steady hand and spot on. Thumbs up to her also. It takes two too tango. Great team work.
Martin, how about around windshield & side windows? Don't your windows have seals on them? Good info but, I think you just did this info not to long ago. I had asked you about treating your belts with 303. You said never. You always have new viewers, so ether way, it's all good.👍👍
I think you just did this info not to long ago. I had asked you about treating your belts with 303. You said never....... That's right, NEVER anything on belts EVER. That video where I mentioned 303 (a totally different product that was covered here) was in a totally different video covering a different subject.
409 spray cleaner works better on rubber. On my motorhome the user manual said not to use any type of cleaner due to the chemicals in most cleansers and 409 is cheaper.
Luv 303 I missed the generator fuel line on my class c motorhome. Jayco greyhawk. I will lube it up next week when I pull it out to goto cagle recreation park near you
Great video Martin and Joanie. BUT! I'm ahead of you on this one LOL, and have been doing the rubber treatment duty for a good bit of time. The good news is it gives me time to get caught up on the last video on rust which will keep me off the streets and out of trouble for a while. I soon will be sitting on Santas lap asking him to bring me one of those telescoping poles you have. I want one real bad! Thanks for your good work and production here! Safe Travels!
Hi Martin and Joanie….really, really great tips here! Thank you very much! Martin…can you envision the 303 doing this function on your slide rubber and rubber hoses?
Love your videos! You teach me so much. Going to use your Amazon link to order the Slide out Conditioner. Will 2 cans do the job? I have a 31' class C so i will have Door rubber also. Does Your lovely Wifey ever do maintenance? I'm hoping i can do these projects you teach me?
Hi Gloradine, 💗 1 can will be enough to treat all your seals and everything else I covered once a year. Yes Joanie helps me some doing assorted things. Washing the RV, polishing, helps me grease the chassis, misc assorted things and she changes the oil. 😍 Thank you so much for supporting us using our Amazon Store. It means so much to us. You can even use our store to shop for anything you need even if it's not in our store. Just click our store link, shop Amazon like you normally would and check out. What type of RV do you have and how long have you owned it?
You guys crack us up!!! Good job Martin & Joanie!!!! The wife has been after me to do this since the purchase of our 5er in August, well tomorrow is the winterization of our girl Jenny and thanks for the tip on that product, I was trying to find the video you did on using that brand ! Keep them rolling guys , stay safe 👍🇨🇦
Another point is when you are looking at your coolant hoses to look at the hose clamps. These over time will rust out and can be a point of failure. Don't forget your heater hoses too. If you have a F53 you may need to take the access cover off from the inside. This is the just the access cover not the large cover. There is one heater hose that come has a clamp on it visible.
Yep we do that too. Hoses, clamps and everything in the engine bay. And yes the heater hose too. I actually found a real possible failure point in the heater hose where it went around a sharp corner and the vibration of the chassis was wearing a crease in the hose about 1/2 thru the hose. I replaced the hose and clamps and then wrapped that hose in split loom. This is why I teach all the time to constantly inspect and watch for possible failure points all the time and be proactive to fix these things before bad things happen. Thx for that Bob. 👍
b/c 303 doesn't condition the rubber. I don't just want to protect it, I also want to condition it and keep it soft and pliable. Now for my tires YES. I use 303. Both products do different things and have different properties.
Great hair.!! Just viewed ur kwikee steps ..again. Excellent.. question.i can't find the battery cut off switch wire schematics.for my 2006 Monaco holiday rambler/Neptune. Monaco techs have not helped. The. Fuse attached to the selenoid keeps breaking. Any suggestions? My mechanic" needs the schematics..thanks. Erin
Well you hit the jackpot asking this question. Finding any documentation for Monaco’s and especially earlier years is very difficult. Not even the REV Group has anything. But below is a link to literally hundreds if not thousands of files. There’s more to download than you can put on a DVD. I highly suggest you download everything while you can. When you have all the files downloaded put them on a thumb drive or two. Keep a copy in your RV. I think you will be amazed at how much information there is. onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AC8LiapHcfT6I24&id=B15E6D1D35D9EFAA%211851&cid=B15E6D1D35D9EFAA www.monacoers.org/
I'm forever grateful for the wire schematics needed to troubleshoot battery switch issues. You guys are GREAT!!! Someday I'll thank you in person..erin
I can't get your Thetford recommended product anywhere from my online search. Can you help me out with something just as good that's currently available? Thanks
Hi Catherine, I know it's the state of the supply chain these days. But it will be back in stock. I don't have another product to recommend that I have experience with. Be patient and I want to thank you so much for wanting to support me in my store. Just check back about once a week or so and when it does come in get at least 2 cans like I do. www.amazon.com/shop/rvstreet
Do you use the 303 on your awnings? I use it both sides of mine. I put it on with a sponge and on the underside while putting it on it removes bugs and water stains, plus the awning rolls out without the tacky sound nice and smooth.
Do you use the 303 on your awnings?..... No I don't. I used to, on our old factory vinyl main awning but I've replaced it along with installing matching window fabric awnings with a high grade cloth material. I now use Woolite and gently wash them once a year.
hello from the rainy cool ozarks martin!! where did you get your arm protectors? thanks for all your precious time with these very informative and helpful tips on protecting the rv. tight lines and cheers!!
That is correct. But one can goes a long, long way. One can will do everything I showed in the vid, plus what I listed in the description text and you'll still have some left. I use one can/yr. for the coach and our toad and still have some left to use later on if needed while on the road.
Do you also do your steering bushings and ball joints and bushings? Scotty Kilmer another RU-vidr 40 yr Mechanic swears by At-205 re-seal. He puts it in a little spray bottle and sprays all the rubber and bushings. He says it will rejuvenate the rubber. I’ve used it for about a year and everything looks good. I was wondering if you have tried that product? Thank you for all the info. It’s great to see Mx type videos.
Haven't tried that product because I really like the conditioner I use as I showed. Really keeps rubber from drying out and keeps it soft. One can does all my rubber stuff outside and everything under the chassis. For me since I'm a full timer, I like products that have multiple purposes to save on storage room and money. The main thing is that these things get done with a good product and do it once a year.
@@RVstreet exactly. Do it right and correct the FIRST time. My wife and I are looking for our first class A. I’ve been a flight mechanic for the past 24yrs so I’ve been doing quite a bit of research to see what maintenance i can save money on by doing it myself. So far it doesn’t seem too bad. Thanks again for your videos and the knowledge 😎👍
No. I use RejeX. I apply this as my final coat over the entire RV instead of wax. RejeX really helps repel and protects everything from damaging UV rays.
Great video! Have you had to replace the seals on the slide of this coach or any other one you might have owned? I have a 2008 Thor Chateau (aka Four Winds?) with the seal around the slide being one piece, as as opposed to 4 separate pieces, sides, top and bottom. I made the mistake of leaving the slides out when it rained last week and water has intruded on the floor under the slide. You can also see daylight when extending a retracting the slides.....probably not a good sign. I can't seem to find any information on how to replace the one piece seal around the slide out. I'm thinking it may be easier to replace all of the seals with completely new seals system....would you agree? I'm pretty handy and I know I can do this.
No I haven't had to replace any seals but yes I would definitely replace them if your getting water intrusion. You can probably find what you're looking for here: uni-grip.com/products/slide-out-seals
Another great video! I use 303 for my seals, hoses and tires. Do you think 303 shouldn't be used in this way, or maybe the product that you use is just better? Keep up the good work 😃
303 is great for tires because it protects them from UV rays if they're not kept covered. One of the main things that keeps tires healthy though is running them. And run them often at the proper PSI. Tires don't need an applied conditioner like the soft rubber stuff I covered in the the vid along with the additional things I listed in the description text.
A couple, but I like this the best because it's creamy, easy to apply, easy to clean up, it penetrates, it really softens/renews the rubber and has UV inhibitors and I just like it overall. 😜
Does that stuff work for plastics too? To keep it from getting brittle...also, i would imagine its good for window rubber too, that stuff really dries out
Not sure about plastics but I doubt it. This conditioner penetrates, softens and protects rubber. Yes you can use this on your window rubber parts too. I gave a-suggested list-of things to treat in the description text.
It's not a lubricant but a conditioner. We have double pane windows and I do polish those thick black rubber seals around the windows when I polish the coach, and then I apply my RejeX to them along with the coach. I clean them often too when I clean the windows. But you can and sometimes I do use this conditioner on those window seals when I'm doing the whole coach's rubber stuff and I remember the window seals. But honestly, sometimes I forget. But for me, it's no big deal because I take care of them all year round anyways. It's smart to keep them clean, soft and protect them from the harsh UV from the sun. Most rubber parts of any kind hates the sun and getting dry. thx Mike 👍
Thanks escape 👍 Silicone shouldn't be used for anything on a RV. To many better products on the market. There really isn't one easy answer to your question though. I use different sealants for different things. You can see all the different ones I use in my Amazon Store under "Sealants, Lubes and Protectants" category. www.amazon.com/shop/rvstreet
@@RVstreet Thanks for responding so quickly! I want to recaulk areas (hatch doors, brake, clearance & side marker lights) that are attached to the fiberglass areas of my 5th wheel. I also need to caulk the seam where the fiberglass sides meet the TPO “Superflex” roof material. If you were doing this what would you use?
@@escape1950 Here's what I'd suggest. My best advice would be, every manufacturer of any RV has what they call a "Sealant Callout Sheet". On that sheet they specify what sealants should be used on different areas of the RV. I'd go to their website and download their sheet and that should answer your questions. If you draw a blank there, let me know and I'll suggest something. 👍
You could use 303 in-some areas-if you wanted to, but 303 is a UV protectant not a conditioner and therefore has to be reapplied several times a year. Thetford is both a protectant and a conditioner and applying it once a year is all that is needed. 303 is great for tires though. Think of all the rubber you have under the chassis and in the engine bay. No sun gets there but all that rubber can get dry so protecting it from UV doesn't do anything. You want to condition that rubber. That's why I use Thetford on all my rubber stuff. One product does it all.
You can yes. I gave a suggested list of areas in the description area. Right under each video you’ll see SHOW MORE….click that and scroll down and the description text and links to purchase what I used in the video are right there. If you are on a tablet or a smart phone there’s probable a little arrow under the video to the right. Click that and scroll down.
I would NEVER purchase an RV with slides. You just go ahead. 1987 Imperial 33 rules. Sorry for you new buyers. You will be better off getting a carbureted engine without a brain.
