Few combat tips on necro that will help you survive HoT: - greatsword 4 inflicts blind on enemies standing inside it. Every enemy below champion (so no CC break bar) will miss their next attack when blinded. If they keep standing inside your gs4 AoE they will keep getting blinded. One of your wells, Well of Darkness (number 7 on your keyboard), also pulses blind, so remember to drop it on large group of enemies. - shroud 3 gives you 3 stacks of Stability and incoming damage reduction. Stability means next heavy CC attack will have no effect on you, so no stun, daze, knockback, etc. - healing skill - instead of Well of Blood, try Consume Conditions. It will remove that annoying cripple, root, slow, but also damaging conditions. Heals more of each consumed condition. - remember to keep your Elite pet summoned. It will tank for you :) If you have troubles clicking buttons from 6 to 0, you can go to your Control Settings and assign shortcuts for those buttons, for example 6=ctrl+1, 7=ctrl+2, etc., making it easier to reach those buttons. You can go with modifier + number, mouse buttons, completely different keys like R, Q, T, whatever works for you :)
Some points: -Hot doesn't require mounts. If you're going to play through the expac, you will unlock the masteries needed to traverse it (aka gliding and shroom jumping). -You can unlock both gliding and the Springer by going to EoD (4th expansion). There's a heart NPC you can talk to to unlock the Springer, no need to complete the heart. By simply entering any EoD maps, you will unlock basic gliding. Having basic gliding and Springer, on top of having a Raptor, will be way more than enough for you to handle HoT. Which, again, wasn't even made for mounts to begin with. I suggest doing this instead of trying to unlock the mounts in PoF, which will take more time. This way, you just pop into EoD very quickly, no need for quests so you just pop back out, and you have what you need.
watching the vod and...for me it's a choice how i read remember that silent thoughts i mentioned? i can choose to read like that or"loud" like you said(thought it's FAR SLOWER) imagine using your arm to grab a cup or a spoon,you don't actively think"i grasp the cup with my fingers and bend them to hold it" same principle though i will admit it took years for me to learn how to read like this(silent thoughts reading) it's fast enough that i can now read a entire novel/book page in maybe around 1-4 sec depending on how much i enjoy the subject and it's how i've read several books per day at times EDIT 1:they do actually explain in season 2 how the waypoints work: -it can save you from the brink of death,it's not a revive(while not unheard of revival magic is SUPER rare in gw2,not to be confused with common necromancy) -it requires your body to be mostly intact so if you get stabbed through the chest,beheaded,etc...RIP -lastly and very importantly...not all races use them,many fear them and some think them to dangerous to mess with and just leave them where they are SO when you get "killed"in-game you're usually just very close to death and hit the waypoint eject button

Kinda shocked by the sort of responses to moving straight to HoT. Ah well. For sure think you’re making a good call by focusing on content you’re interested in, but you already know it’s the right call lol. Personally, my time was spent bouncing around a bit of PoF for mounts, then back to HoT, with some EoD sprinkled in between before actually finishing each expac. Everything was out of order, but it actually made me interested in the lore and want to go back to do all the living world stories, and I wouldn’t change the order I did it in one bit. I don’t feel like I missed out on an experience at all, I got the experience I was looking for, which is a great feature of this game
I do regret how negative I was at the time, and for that I am sorry, but I can kind of explain why people were bothered (Myself included). Play however the hell you want to, it's a game, have fun. But most of the streams were very much "I intend to play everything in order." People who like seeing the reaction to the increasing quality of each section were excited. Then an "Actually I'm just going to skip ahead", while well within his rights to do so, and possibly the best call for him personally, is naturally met with "Well, I was looking forward to something that I was told was going to happen, and now it's not. This kinda sucks."
Honestly, Rube looked like he was enjoying the core game quite fine, up until he continued looking through all the other expansions. He was exploring, finding jumping puzzles, wanted to try other dungeons, etc. That's part of why I tuned in, because he was building a sense of appreciation for the core game that we don't get to see much. Now, the dude just seems impatient to get it all over with because the grass is greener and more exciting on the other side than where he is. Where'd all that contentment in the core gameplay go? It's hard to say whether a person would have continued to enjoy their time if they had blinders on. Or whether it would have made no difference and he'd be wanting to get it all over with anyhow. I do know that another youtuber I've been following has been enjoying their slow progression in the game. They have limited themselves to knowing the barest minimum about the expansions, but have focused their attention only to the core game. I know this is a very small sample size and the analysis will mean nothing, but it does make me wonder if people would feel less pressure if things were done differently.
I did core Tyria then PoF then EoD and then I went back and I did the first few living world seasons and I'm in HoT now. While doing that I also did SoTO and right now I'm also doing Janthir. And I still havent seen all the side stories from the dungeons. So I can't really judge you at all. That being said I am an invested in the story type of person. I'm just fine with non-linear stories.
For all the players that were too lazy to explore HoT maps without mounts, when HoT was released there were no mounts, the maps are literally made for gliders. And not even HoT, also season 3. New players don’t get that, but i actually preferred the game before mounts.
@@snuggler100 There is novelty in those previous experiences. There's a reason people feel nostalgic over them, and it's not necessarily bad. There is also a case to be made about how much people rely on mounts, to the point where they're speeding past a ton of aspects of the game, and they find themselves either bored or overwhelmed. Advising new players to pace themselves and rely on other modes of exploration is not a terrible sentiment.
People always scare new players into thinking they CAN'T build a legendary. While it is hard and can be a time sink, it doesn't take years. I've only been playing for 5 years or so and I have multiple legendaries already. And I only spent actual money on one that I rushed. Don't be scared to at least look into the weapons and armor! The legendaries you can start working on as soon as you are Lvl 80. Also, even if you don't do them, the LW stories add quite a lot to the lore and they are available to just read summaries of.
I mean, technically, they actually CAN'T build a legendary yet as a new player. They're gated by map completion, gift of battle, access to all the mats or gold to get all the mats for gifts of might/magic. I definitely agree that it's something a person can start working towards. But I wouldn't be saying it like it's something they can accomplish easily with only a small amount of playtime, which is what "oh you can totally build a legendary right now!" would sound to a lot of people.
