F2L is really really freaking hard the first day or two you try to mess around with it. But as soon as you get that breakthrough you’ll have it. Don’t switch methods over this.
Yeah F2L will be hard at first but the more you practice the times will come down... I went from solving F2L from 26 seconds to 4 seconds... practice lookahead it actually helps
As an "old" speedcuber (33), roux has been my main method since I started trying to get faster. I still don't have full CMLL memorized, but manage to get around 22 second average with 2 look. Sean's performance is incredible, and it is awesome to see the method being taken to new heights.
I forgot how it felt when I first learnt cfop. I was like 10 or 11 when I did that. (I honestly have no idea how I was so patient when I was younger) So this is how it feels..
My interest in solving Rubik's cube started when I found a mirror cube somewhere in my dad'a aliexpress pile. Previously I only had very bad quality cubes that would constantly jam. So I learned how to solve the cube using CFOP and memorized it completely. IT actually felt much easier when the cube had shapes instead of colors, since I can immediately see what's wrong and what belongs where. Now I want to become wven better by learning Roux method... Wish me luck!
re: what roux solvers do for dots for the case where you just have the centers, most people will try to skip it, but if you are left with it the E2 alg is better. for the one where you just have edges, people will just cancel the AUF into (U2) then the double vertical swap alg, so it'd be (U2) M' U2 M2 U2 M' (U2)
Dots is typically done with the E2 thing you explained, however there are ways to predict and skip it but they are kind of advanced (typically seen while doing the left and right edges)
Nearly 3 months into using Roux, and I have to say this method has made 3x3 a lot more enjoyable to solve thanks to the more intuitive nature of it. I've also noticed an improvement in my ability to do slice moves throughout my time using this method as well
This is actually pretty helpful cuz im the fastest cuber in my class rn so when my friends do race the dont want me in, so im gonna say imma use a more slow method so they can let me in
I started learning some basic concepts of roux yesterday and am really happy to find this video today. It was understandable for me! Thanks for this video.
3.35 alternative algorithm is (hold the headlight on the front if you dont have a headlight do this algorithm and you will have one) R B' R F2 R' B R F2 R2
Good guide! I'm 2 days into Roux from beginners method. I am aweful at algorithms, but I picked up a better understanding of some of the LSE cases from this - 3 swap especially. My only struggle is permuations now, but I got tje J-perm down, so at least I'm able to solve it from memory.
I think you did a really good job. You showed an easy way to start with roux, not only in this video, but the older one too. I started with roux after watch your other first video about it, because I really got interest. I think you are on the right way
Thank God you're here! After having set down my cube for over a year, my boss approached me asking if I could teach him Roux. To my surprise, I completely and profoundly forgot both the method, and many of the algorithms of Roux!!! This tutorial got me back on track.
So , I can solve the cube decent but I have , let's face it a trash cube. It barely turns , usually gets plain jammed etc. Idek what brand it is. Looking for recommendations for a decent speedcube so I can learn roux? Thanks
if you didn’t buy one yet i’d also like to recommend, no offense to the other commentor but i have the yuxin little magic and for me qiyi warrior w is way better than a little magic, assuming you’re looking for budget cubes since you said a “decent” speedcube, but if money isn’t a problem i’d recommend a moyu weilong wr m (around 40$) or if you’re willing to spend more than that the gan 356 x (70$) which is the best i own right now
"Another way to solve the centers is by doing M E2 M' E2, which can be done *extremely fast.* " My old, unlubed, non-magnetic cube: *I don't think so.*
If you know the Ortega method, just pair up the edges with random corners for the block, then have the corners of the first layer scrambled, but then just move put to the top layer, do 2x2 Oll and then pbl, and then you don’t need to find corner edge pairs, you can just pair up any corner with any edge, then do pbl. Sorry if this wasn’t clear to read
E2 M E2 M' or the inverse is generally faster than spamming MU moves for dots, except in OH it can be worth it to do MU. I am glad you mentioned it though. The regrip can also be done quite fast, see Kian's 3rd solve from Worlds 2019.
in oh imo it's better to do SM dots unless you can eido all your U2s, in which case MU is better also E2 M E2 M' is the only dot case worth doing M2 for (cause when it's the E2 M E2 M case you can just do U2 M' U2 M2 U2 M' U2, preferably AUFing the correct way in 4b
I was using this method for the first time today and everything solved except the edges that were a Ua perm. If I am speed solving would it be better to do the Ua perm or to keep solving with Roux. Any person’s answers are welcome.
Hi j perm I need help with the last step (three cycle) : So sometimes two edges would be come out flipped (making an H-looking pattern, or the edges are completely opposite from each other). Does anyone know what to do here? I'm stuck when I get to these flipped edges. Thanks
Hey JPerm, I learned beginner cfop a couple weeks ago and I am doing pretty well. Was trying to learn roux and had some trouble understanding some things, especially when it comes to perms since I still am on beginner cfop. It would be nice if you made a video with a more beginner aprouch if it would make sense
This is a great tutorial, but for me, almost all the EO algorithms did not work for me. Maybe I just wasn't setting the cube up right, but I don't know.
I tried learning roux intuitively but somehow came up with two edges that needed to be swapped. I thought i accidentally had an edge flipped but i was able to solve it using cfop.
Dylan, i am a cfop solver and when i tried roux it was really hard but with practice i learned it, i have worse time with roux, but i am sure that when i watch your second video "advanced roux", my time will get better, btw you're great teacher.
After watching this 3 days not only did i solve it but At some points i tried to correct a mistake and made progress instead of messing everything up, so thats neat
I went from just needing to learn full oll in crop to complete advanced cfop then I wanted to learn this for fun now it feels like I am a complete beginner now
After 6:23 you jumped right back in with your situation and I had a different one and it made it very confusing so that is where I lost it and failed to learn Roux today rip back again tomorrow
