It took my sister-in-law two years to talk me into trying a Rubio‘s fish taco. On the night I finally said yes, stopped at a Rubio‘s right before closing. Taco is horribly mushy and I hated it! It took another two years to try it again. This time we went during the day and receive fresh tacos. I’ve been hooked ever since!!!
Fish Tacos are originally from Ensenada, Baja California, México, and my father tells me that he had the first one when he spent a Christmas vacation there in 1963 invited by the family of a college friend who was studying at the University Of Guadalajara.
This video is a must for anyone interested in the San Diego food scene. Fish tacos are synonymous with our city. Ralph Rubio opened his first shop here about 30 years ago and now diners can eat at "Rubio's" in five western states. Gift cards for Rubio's (as well as lodging, a scenic flight, a great craft beer experience and more) are part of the prize in the "Delicious La Jolla Foodie Getaway."
