Have to give this kid some grace. The level of all this is still fresh and he’s clearly still brainwashed not only by his mother “Ruby” but also the Mormon Church. He’s a victim in all this too and deserves grace!

It makes me sad that Chad doesn't see the problem with Kevin, Bonnie and the others not stepping in and doing more. Hearing him say he understood the brainwashing but still doesn't see that he's still suffering from that brainwashing is sad.

I left a comment about a girl named Morgan Bailey on tik tok because she exploits her daughter and gets money. Well tik tok kicked me off for saying she exploits her daughter. Her fans reported me so much I got kicked off! I hate seeing all these parents on tik tok exploiting their kids. I absolutely hate influencers culture!

Chad is on a journey now, he's gonna change his statements every few weeks or months as and when realisation hits him and healing happens. He will discover lot of other things as well

You are right about Sheri, she tried to get the police to do something, and did you notice how Chad still emphasized that she committed burglary? The police didn’t think so but Chad is covering his dad’s butt like crazy. Kevin wouldn’t flip a dime in a cesspool for Chad to dig out. They made him pay $900/month to Jodi for “therapy” from his summer job as a lifeguard.

This young man is still processing. It will take him the rest of his life to work through this. So his reactions and thoughts now are coming from where he is emotionally at this time. Next month it might be very different. He has been brainwashed his entire life. I hope he gets the proper help and can come to terms with everything.

Unfortunately, Chad may not truly understand the gravity of the situation until he is at least in his late 20s or until he(if) has kids. From personal experience.

Chad is an adult. He can sue Jodi himself. If he decided to he could crowdsource money for legal resources for the legal battle, he would be able to hire one hell of a team. There might be enough people involved at the point to take Jodi into federal court and take it all!

Abusive parents deserve 25 years at the minimum. As for Jody the same but Ruby is more to be faulted as The parent. Sherry should be awarded custody as she has the best grasp of reality. After Chad has some real time to process this i hope he realizes that their whole lives were hijacked by the mormon church which left the vunerable to nonsense theories and whack job religious rules. This makes me so sad for Sheri. I already had NO doubts that she was sounding the alarm to family members, her father, etc and was ignored and dismissed and probably ostracized. I do agree Chad still does not have a whole brain so he probably does not understand all the implications of what has happened and how brainwashed he has been.

Poor Shari, she was likely overwhelmed with worry and stress nonstop. The feeling of being unheard and not being able to do anything to save them, despite reaching out to everyone, including the police. I can’t even imagined what she was going through. It’s reminiscent of a movie where the protagonist struggles to be believed. Shari, seemingly the only rational one in the family, appears mature and strong, almost the only real mother/parent figure to the kids. It’s disheartening that she has been vilified by Kevin and now seemingly Chad, especially when she’s the one who truly cared for the kids. It makes me sick. Chad, unfortunately, seems deeply influenced by prolonged brainwashing, particularly during counseling sessions with Jodie. He endured emotional abuse from Ruby and was coerced into therapy and Anasazi wilderness therapy camp. Despite his defense and “supposed” liking of Anasazi, the horrors of that place is well-known. His acceptance of certain mistreatments suggests he really does have a “distorted” perspective. He wasn’t in distortion before but, as soon as Jodie and Ruby sunk their fangs into him…manipulating his entire thought process, he then became distorted. He desperately needs proper therapy to untangle the trauma inflicted upon him. I hope he’s getting therapy too and I truly hope all the children are getting proper therapy. Not some insane Mormon therapy, they need real therapy. It’s crucial for Chad to realize that the blame lies with Ruby, Kevin, Jodie, and the extended family, not Shari. Yes, Kevin is to blame rather Chad wants to believe it or not. Kevin is their parent and should’ve acted as such. His job was to protect them and he failed miserably. Shari’s actions, including sharing vindication on social media and retrieving belongings for her siblings, were entirely justified. Shari and Russell both deserve commendation for their bravery. And Shari, for her relentless advocacy for her siblings’ well-being.

Sherry called the police and said the kids were being left home alone for weeks at a time and the police went to the house but they couldn’t enter the house without permission but they had been going to neighbors asking for food and wandering around the neighborhood alone and it was very obvious that they were home alone. That is what they thought Sherry was lying about.

Moved out with my son from 20-25 and moving back in with my dad to help pay the mortgage the house me and my son will get when he passes! My son is 6 and my dad is our best friend. Moving out made me love and appreciate my dad soooooooooo much. Not having a can opener my first day in my apartment blew my mind. 😭😂

Here's my theory. I think Kevin (dad right? ) left the house without a fight because Ruby or Jodi had some dirt on him. For some reason it really seems like a blackmail situation.

I think Chad seems like a very intelligent and FUNNY kid. I hope he is happy still being a part of the church and I think he's gonna go places.

Kevin wants that money for him and him alone. He acts like a perpetual victim when he should be in jail and probably thinks Jodie owes him the money. I hope if they get the money that the judge stipulates that this money has to go to the kids and the kids alone so he can’t run off with it and leave the kids high and dry.

I’m never going to shit on how Chad chooses to deal, but all the same it’s devastating to hear him defend Kevin and Ruby. It’s brutal to hear jokes made about any of it, in any capacity. I think he’s still very much in denial on Kevin especially. Ugh, those littles are never going to get justice or the real support they need if this is how the people closest to them are treating all of this. For me, this was actually kind of devastating to hear 😔

Chad was talking about the nuclear family, as in Kevin, Ruby and the kids. He wasn't talking about aunts and uncles, as they were already cut off from all of those family members. He would not have known what they were doing or thinking, because he was not around them at all, only Shari was around them.

The taking off Chad’s bathroom door so he’d have no privacy is disgustingly abusive at any age, but especially for a 15-16 year old! Ruby was obsessed with Kevin, Chad, & R being “perverts” for being normal males… it’s extremely creepy.

Just wanted to add one correction; The woman he was referring to about being investigated further was Pam Bodtcher, the one that had the 2 teenage girls. He said she had to know something was going on bc she's the president of Connexions, but now she's pretty much in hiding.

The only person that DID SOMETHING to help the kids was sherry, and she was villainized for it from her family. And imo sherry is still looked down upon by Chad and Kevin etc.

I grew up Mormon, about 10 years ago the missionaries were only allowed 2 calls per year. The missions are more designed to fully brainwash the missionaries if you look at the extremely strict rules. Bringing more people into the religion is just a bonus

I think the smaller children will by far be struggling more than the older ones (obviously) so we won’t know how far they stray from the religion or their feelings until they are older. Chad is still obviously brainwashed and it feels like such a large disconnect for him from his younger siblings which is so sad and I’m assuming all part of what went on in that household. I am so confused how anyone can see the “light” in this as his littlest siblings were literally starved and physically abused. It’s just all so incredibly sad. It’s all so sick. I hope that they can all move on and find love and guidance from better humans in life in general.

When Shari’s family did not listen to her that is when she reconnected with her Aunts and they all supported her and believed her.

Poor Shari. It sounds like she even lost her sibling relationships, all because she was brave enough to speak up and the parents turned their own child into a villain. Even right up to and a little adter the arrest. It's so sad.

These children probably feel safe for the first time In their life with their mom behind bars. They deserve healing and happiness. It sickens me the torture they endured.

My dad inflicted multi-type-abuse on my as a child and I still want a relationship with him. Childhood abuse is very emotionally complex for the child. Some people still have love and good memories with abusive parents. In that sense, I understand where Chad comes from wanting a relationship with Franke at some point.

Chad is just a baby..I didn't understand the abuse I endured at home until I was 30 and had my own children. He hasn't grasped what really happened yet.

I think the one thing to remember is that mental abuse can run really deep. Chad is young now and needs to mature. One day he might have another opinion after he has time to really reflect. His friends are kids and kids can be really cruel. Chad might not be ok deep down with how his friends joke but might not have the wherewithal to correct his friends. I'd take everything with a grain of salt.

Well Sheri must have said something to Kevin, I’d imagine-you’d think , at the very least , Kevin would check in to see why Sheri is making these claims. But he didn’t -that’s insane .

The justice system is freaking teaching the kids it isn't as bad as it actually is. So Chad saying he would get to know his Mom again said a lot about the damage of influence that is going on around there. I would not ever want to see my mom again. She was grateful for police intervention, but NOT ONCE did she APOLOGIZE to her children!! She DEFLECTED BLAME!! I'm so mad.

I sort of understand why Chad still wants a relationship with his mother. My mom is an alcoholic. No matter how many times shes hurt me, dissappointed me, or wasn't there when I needed her, the little kid in me still wants her mom. Im 26 and found ways to keep a healthy boundaries so i've only been exposed to her drunk once in the past year because of these boundaries i've put in place. My daughter has never seen my mom drunk. My goal is that she never sees my mom drunk. Someday I'll tell my daughter, when she's mature enough, that she needs to be careful because alcoholism runs in her family.

You have to remember too that this whole family isn't doing good mentally. They are still very fresh in unlearning this kind of thinking and behavior. He might even b trying to down play his problems because he is just trying to move forward. Unlearning and independent thinking after this kind of trauma takes YEARS. I hope in 10 yrs Chad (all of those people) has a completely different lifestyle and different headspace.

I live in a tiny town in Ohio in an apartment building for 7 years. One of the units in my building has been used for VERY young Mormon missionaries from Utah for around 3 or 4 years now. They are like 18 and usually like 5 of them. They are all so sweet and have the same car to use with every new batch that comes in. I talk to them often and they don’t have any money to go home and see their families because they have literally no money to do anything. They stay here for 6-9 months each. Just door to door’ing every day and going to the gym.

Josh, it used to be way worse for mormon missionaries. On my mission in Brasil, I only got to call my parent's on mother's day and Christmas. So I only spoke to my parents 3 times in 2 years. Now, missionaries can call home weekly. All part of the churches attempt to become more progressive and attractive to youth. BTW, I am no longer in the church.

I’ve been in the Mormon community. They learn how to be very super polite in front of others, but they are the same as any other behind-the-scenes. Else it teaches them to be sneakier and sketchier. I left the Mormon community with my family and we ran. They only show you what they want you to see.
