@@dxXZeroXxb It does appear as if they'd get along with each other. I get some Megamind vibes from this movie, you know, about psychological stuff and being pushed into roles that don't quite fit you. I believe that it will really be about their friendship, despite coming from different worlds.

I just watched a prescreening of it and it was enjoyable. It was a mystery movie thing.

Honestly if they don't, I'm concerned about this movie. That is literally the only ending that works.

This is more or less the same story as "Turning Red." Girl has powers; Mom is overprotective; Girl defies Mom; Girl is hero in the end. I prefer more realistic stories. See "The Master of Perception" and "Catch a Falling Star" (homepage/about).

I think it might have been intentional. It will be interesting to see what kind of turnout percentage-wise this movie makes in comparison to its budget vs. Disney's mermaid, which won't be hard for this movie to do. All it has to do is turn a profit. Hell, even if it breaks even it will be more successful than the live action TLM.

Well that's what they're selling this movie on. Also, people seem to get upset when a surprise villain pops up for some reason. Even when there are other very obvious villanoious characters like the Duke of Weselton in Frozen.

Except the truth about the Mermaid Queen, maybe.

First off, mermaids aren't real. If you find them as evil monsters or great creatures then that's your opinion. Second, dreamwork isn't really a real company. The creators are two other companies.

I'm planning on writing a story where there's a third faction: The Titans. The Krakens are good, the Mermaids are evil, and the Titans are just trying to keep nature in balance with little interest in the conflict between the first two. Their king is Gojira (Godzilla), and the main character is his son, which I think makes sense since they're both sea creatures. The son, Junia (Japanese for Junior) is obeying his father's orders to take a human disguise, go to Oceanside High, and see what Chelsea is planning since Gojira has a sixth sense for these sort of things. Junia will join the final battle and likely finish Chelsea off himself. He's over 170 million years old and spent most of those years in combat, but I wouldn't call that trauma since he's often won and gets over things quickly. Junia's human disguise is very tall, quite bulky, has simple black pants and a grey sweater, black spiky hair, scars all over his body, and dark orange eyes. I imagine Gojira being voiced by Orson Welles while Junia is voiced by either J.K. Simmons or Peter Dinklage.

I mean box office wise this movie could look abysmal but I think people might like it once it's more readily available. On Peacock, Netflix, all of that. But it is worth noting that Dreamworks has not fully built their reputation back up yet. At least they escaped the not-being family-friendly stigma Pixar now has. But the REAL test of whether people will see original animated films from a trusted studio will be in December with Illumination's Migration. But Illumination doesn't have to worry really, if that somehow underpeforms, because their other movies make up for it.
