After their hurried escape from the Drake Mountain Facility, Isaac and his group stumbled upon a farmhouse in a secluded valley. It's what they've been looking for - a place to make their home, both now and in the future.
Their joy is tempered by questions though. How will they feed and look after themselves, especially with a baby on the way? Was the virus unleashed against the invaders successful, or will they be watching out for their oppressors for the rest of their lives? And...even if they are gone, what other dangers in the post-apocalyptic world await them?
Danger is coming, and only time will tell if they have found the salvation they've been seeking or if their dreams will be crushed, leaving them to the same fate as all of those that died before them.
Rude Shock is the fourth book of the action-packed America Falls post-apocalyptic audiobook series
If you'd like to own forever copies of America Falls, you can find the series in Paperback, Hardcover and Kindle at www.amazon.com/Scott-Medbury/...

@ScottMedburyAuthor it's been 2 yrs. since I first listened to your excellent and unique creations. Your novels are unique in the magical way the characters come alive in the reader's mind. We begin to perceive them as real people, so much that we find ourselves feeling emotions towards the characters. My Mother was an author, and she always said the true sign of talent in an author is if the characters come alive in the reader's mind...the brain actually responds to the text as if it was feeling it as it's own personal experiences. Your writing exhibits that. The reason I decided to re-listen to your books is because I needed an escape from the harsh realities that life has unexpectedly produced upon me😢- obstacles that have suddenly interfered with my life. I have been bombarded all at once with several crises within my family that I have no control over, yet unfortunately, I am the only person who is available not per my choice, to be in charge of all decisions! But every night, when the world falls asleep, I have comfort in knowing that I have something to look forward to: instead of thinking about the weight I am carrying on my shoulders, I can replace that with a special time for myself, listening to your books. Thank you, Mr. Medbury, from the bottom of my heart.❤

Isaac has buckets of blood on his hands at this point in the story. It made sense in the beginning, but how many times do you have to refuse to kill someone, only for someone near you to be murdered by them directly because of your lack of testicular fortitude to do what has to be done before you learn? Ashe, Mr. Rag, Professor Layton, and Leroy all should have been summarily lined up and executed when they showed signs, or in rags case openly threatened the team. I am enjoying this series immensely and will continue listening to the end but I would be lying if I wasn’t cussing Issac out from time to time

What bothered me with Issac wasn’t just this but the bit about him being co leader and not sharing information with the others. He kept being read as having more experience to adapt because of his earlier loss. But continues to make mistakes. As a foster and having had bad experiences in homes you learn to read people. Which he does but stays quiet about it. The honey trap kids, rags, and the last kid who gunned down the siblings.

I have read many books, Lion witch and the wardrobe.....and so on....the type of books of my generation X....we are a generation of a mix of growing up old school but being part of technology be birthed and blossom and now be part of it and understand it. So I can appreciate an amazing thing online or a 700 page novel. I can tell you I haven't been this emotionally invested since I read The Jungle by Upton St. Claire....this series is just fucking amazing....I was screaming with my headphones on, my wife of 25 years looking at me like I was crazy, while Isaac was battling Ragg...Thank you....I have a long way to go on the Journey with these amazing young people....Thank you ❤️

oh that bull thing lol, that happened to my dad many years ago. We'd gone away on holidays and it was a hot day and us kids got thirsty in the car while along the route. There was a big tank in a paddock so my dad grabbed and container, jumped a fence and headed towards the tank hoping it had a tap. The thing was as dad got almost halfway there, a huge bull walked out from behind the tank, looked at dad.. obviously wasn't happy with him being in it's it's paddock and then charged. I'd never seen my father run so fast and being the children we were, we were cheering him along.

Yes, was published in 9/18. Pretty sure that the Chinese Communist Party [CCP] designed the coronavirus to spare youth too young to fight and young enough to brainwash and enlist. @@dustinjones510 that's the thing. As soon as the US government decides to take anything from us directly, they will cease to exist. As a people, we are woefully unprepared for any serious next level conflict. A percentage of us are hardy and equipped well enough to survive most attacks. This bioweapon stuff is very insidious and we aren't equipped for it. Nanotech is also something we're not setup to deal with. Even an EMP alone could wreck us.

When Issac found the assault rifles instead of putting them in the Hummer he should have passed them out to Ben and Paul. Why would you want your group armed with handguns when better weapons were available? Also, for a "leader" he sure gives out information to strangers without fully vetting them first. In a real post apocalyptic world he wouldn't survive all these bad decisions.
@E_Static

Actually he did. By this time in the story he had destroyed a Chinese platoon at the bar, been captured twice, and escaped a underground military bunker. If he didn't think about equipping his team by this point he didn't learn anything about survival at all.

It is Easyer to go through a window and then reseal it . Than wreck a door . A good door is a better barrier plus nailed down cross boards. Just be certain you have door to crossbar contact. To reduce momentum if door is popped. If you got time you can circumvent the door or a window by making a hole in outer wall 5 inches from the jam . Then just reach I and turn the lock.. consider the hole as a gun fire position. Just put some. Sand bags in area vrs incoming fire .

Not gonna lie; the premise seemed kinda sussy. But I though eh, what the hell, I like apocalyptic media. Anyway you tackled a lot of potentially shitty issues very well when it comes to America and China - we haven't had the best track record as of late with how we are treating our fellow Chinese Americans alongside this weird American conception of Chinese people being some kind of hivemind super organism. Anyway big ups, enthralling story, believable characters, great setting and I absolutely love how Issac isn't this strange marry sue. He is competent, capable, dangerous enough in a believable way, but still gets rocked regularly by adults. Because he's a kid. I've recommended this to quite a few people around campus because you obviously deserve more attention.

Great series so far. From time to time during the story I check locations and distances on Google maps 😂 I like doing that for extra content to see how the geographic features come in to play

When they came back from the town was mentioned Luke's hook glinted in the light, then later Luke said he hoped that Ben would help fashion a hook?

I am almost at the end of this one, I'd just say that too many years have passed before a conflict with Ash.

I just realized that the first place they settled.... Was "Plymouth" and celebrated Thanksgiving... Coincidence Scott? 😎 (Although the real American Plymouth is 220miles South on I 93)

If this was "real" there would be many who would choose to give bad people "the benefit of the doubt." Also, just as it is today, those incorrigible who are simply tapped on the hand, would return over and over to do worse and worse evil to the same society that let them get away with it. There would be a learning curve.

I remember listening to a book a while ago I can’t remember if it was this series or a different one. Anyone know what book the Russians launch a missile with a glass warhead to save norad? I’ve been trying to find it and can’t
