Well, I was at a campground once and the next door guy had a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. I told my wife, get ready for a rude awakening morning with our neighbor. I was up early next morning and this guys was pushing his motorcycle away from campers just so he can start his motorcycle and not disturb his neighbors... there are still good campers out there that have consideration for others. Sad you guys had to deal with crap like that.

Yes, another site I follow for campers a guy asked if it would annoy people if he took his motorcycle to his campsite. Most people said and agreed that they didn't care as long as he wasn't one of those constantly revving it up, riding past quite hours at night or early in the morning. A few said they didn't want you hear it at all and a few said they didn't care when he road it. So not everyone can be pleased. I was in with the first group.

Just this weekend we were at campground and our neighbors allowed their two little yippie dogs run around off leash. One of the dogs came over to our site on pooped right right beside our picnic table. I very nicely asked the owners if they could come and pick up the poop. "Sure!" Four hours later, one of their kids finally came over and half-way picked it up so I picked up the rest. Next day, same deal, dog came over and pooped in almost the same spot. I promptly scooped it up on a piece of cardboard and walked it to their site and place it at the bottom of their stairs.

I don't speed in campsites but I can tell you the roads in campsites can be very narrow and sometimes with full size one tons with oversized mirrors, you cant avoid getting close to people walking, that said damaging someone personal property by kicking it isn't the way to handle it. I can guarantee you'll do that to the wrong person one day.

He's right you know. Kicking someones car will either get your a$$ kicked or a visit from the police 🚔 be smart. And i know your a carry permit holder you really need to be smarter than to be the aggressor in any situation when your carrying. I am a fellow carry permit holder and agree with much of what you said but you wrong on kicking cars. A better tip in my opinion would be to be aware of your surroundings and create distance from vehicles when walking and you see them coming. I agree they should not speed or get close to you but your response will cause you trouble.

We were camping at Silvercreek Plunge in Idaho. We observed a large group of people camping in RV’s. One of the campers had their black tank hose stretched out into a bush. There are no dump hookups at this campground. I notified the campground employee but by the time the employee got to the site, the people had put the hose away. Gross!!! Some kid or pet is going to get into that and at best, get covered in sh**!!! So disgusting 🤢

we had a neighbor that allowed their dog to poop on "our" site. If we didn't pick it up right away we were the ones "in trouble" with the park, blaming our dog. 1 morning I was waiting at the window and as the dog came over, I took a picture while it was in mid poop, took it up to the office. He was asked to leave that afternoon.

Please don't judge me. We live near an apartment complex. People continue to walk their pets by my house. Happens when we don't see the dirty deed being done. On the advice of my neighbor, if you save the grease from frying bacon, dribble some of it across the poop. The next time a dog uses the yard as a toilet, poof its gone. And no, we pick up our dogs mess. Just not others.

Campground Mgr came and told them they had 2 hours to leave! QUIETLY, she said. 😊 Good

I was full-timing at a park where my neighbor would get up at 6 am and fire up his diesel-powered dually and let it warm up for 15 minutes while the exhaust fumes filled my bedroom. The noise didn't bother me as much as having stinky toxins pumped directly into my RV, choking me and my dog. With less than 10 feet between campers, that space where he was parking filled up with fumes in no time flat. I finally stormed out one morning and somehow managed to calm myself enough explain to him what the problem was. To his credit, he started parking in a different spot that allowed him to idle that thing without being directly beneath my windows. I was so glad to see the last of them when they got evicted a few weeks later.

It is cheaper to stay at a Hilton five star resort with included meals after you do all the computing of the cost of storage, camping, gas, insurance, repairs after you use the tin can once etc etc etc. Plus you get to stay with nice people instead of slobs. No cooking, no dishes, no cleaning..That is what vacations are supposed to be about, not keeping track of the child bike gangs that start screaming and throwing rocks against your tin can house at about eight in the morning as they race around the park.
@LauraS1
@LauraS1 3 года назад
Boondocking doesn't always save you from the jerks, though. Sometimes they show up wherever you are anyway, especially if you're doing dispersed forest service camping or dispersed desert camping. By far, the desert campers are the worst because most of them have several ATVs with them. I am NOT dissing ATVers because most are nice but it's the bad apples that run through your camp with their ATV or stay up all night screaming and yelling and drinking that spoil it for the rest of them (and us).

Years ago, when our kids were little, we took a tent camping trip. After getting to bed the first night, the people in the next camp site kept talking and laughing loudly, well after quiet hours. We finally put an end to it, when I started singing Tom Lehrer's "So Long, Mom (A Song for World War III)." As I recall, they were quiet that next night. In our pop-up trailer a few years ago, we ended up next to a couple of German men who were RV'ing around the US. Apparently, at some point, they'd been stopped by law enforcement and told to wear their seatbelts, as for most of the night, they kept repeating loudly, "BUCKLE UP! IT'S THE LAW!" and laughing about it. They were nice enough guys, but that got pretty old rather quickly. It didn't help, either, that they were smoking some rather nasty smelling cigarettes (the legal kind), and the smell kept wafting over to our site. It probably bears mentioning as well, that not only can others hear when a couple is fighting in their RV, but if they're a bit too vocal during more amorous interactions, those will be heard as well. While it's nice to know someone is having a good time, I think most of us prefer not getting the sound track the entire time.

OMG We where camping at our favorite state park. Half way around the loop a family of (I'm not kidding we counted them) 30 people 4 couples and 22 children all under the age of 10. And they made the camp grounds their play ground . They would run though your site would come and ask for some of what you where eating. Jump into the back of my pick up ,want to use our bathroom. I'm not kidding. Where are the parents. I went to the park off to complain. That lasted about 10 min kids went right back to doing what they were doing . And not just to us the whole camp grounds. When I had enough I went to their site and as nicely as I could explained that if they did not control their kids I would be back with the police and a Ambulance. Because I would beat the crap out of them for ruining my weekend with their kids. Oh and I forgot that there were 4 other campers with me to back me up. Because they where having the same done to them. NOW This all happened in one day. The next day the park had the state police remove them and banned them from coming back. When 36 camp sites report this and the parents did nothing to stop their kids. So yes I'm a bad guy for saying something to them. I'll get over it

I can’t believe (but sadly, really can) that all of these things aren’t no brainers! A couple years ago, my daughter arranged a group camping trip for friends and family. We ended up paying quite a bit extra for a group site because the number in our group was somewhat large, and we wanted to stay together. The site came with its own portable potties, and parking area. We spent the entire trip fighting with day campers parking in our lot, and literally tramping right through our site to get to the water, as well as using the potties designated for our site. I mean, they literally were hauling equipment, easy-ups, coolers, chairs, etc. back and forth, every day, RIGHT THROUGH our spot. It was so annoying and disappointing when we spent so much for that site. We complained, to no avail.

After 20 years in the Navy, I've learned to NEVER, EVER trust a stranger to do things 'the right way'. I couldn't agree more about sanitizing everything. I have been up to 30 minutes late leaving check-out (the wife and I work late/graveyard shifts and we sleep IN!!). One time, on a Tuesday, we had someone pull into the waiting area and they were staring daggers at us from 40 feet away as we were packing out - 10 minutes BEFORE check out and 70 minutes before check in! This older couple (say late 70's) were very upset that they couldn't get into their spot immediately. They had in-state tags, and their rig was from a local dealership and was over ten years old, so they likely lived within an hour of the park. So, if you get there BEFORE check in, please don't be a jerk to folks who are packing out before your turn to get into it.

We reserved two premium water access camp sites (following campground rules, no more that 8 people per site).There was a clearly marked trail to the water, on the outer perimeter of each site. Instead of using the trail, people were walking through our sites with canoes, kayaks and little raft boats. I finally said something (nicely the first few time). I thought about walking through there site. Instead, I went to the camp host, they in return went to all the other sites and told people to stop walking through our site. Of course the rest of the weekend, we were hated by other campers…who cares, we paid big buck for those sites and we were going to enjoy them! Love your stories and all your camping advice.

We glamped for 5 years as seasonal campers near Horicon, Wi. The worst campers were a group of 20 - something guys who drank and talked loudly until 1 or 2 AM, when quiet time started at 10 PM. The campground owner was oblivious to it UNTIL they started shooting off fireworks the 2nd night of a 4 day holiday weekend. That got them kicked out immediately - they were gone within 30 minutes, due to the owner telling them that he would call the police if they did not leave within that time. They were only 2 spaces away from us. Total lack of common sense and decency - guess they left their brains and manners at home.

We're retired and often arrive early at campgrounds. If the site is still occupied, we try to find a spot out of everyone's way to unhook our towed vehicle and maybe have a sandwich. Usually, the folks leaving the site are out by checkout time. My pet peeve is leaving bright lights on, gas lanterns are the worst. Some porch lights are too bright.

One neighbor is trying to tell her that she's going to hit a tree on her side, but she just waves to him and floors it smashing into three small trees then hitting a larger tree. The second time (different campground than the first) - we told management & they just said 'not to worry about it & just wait for them' - we waited for hours. We were super mad & I should have asked for a partial refund since we couldn't use our site for several hours. THEN it was too late in the day for me to get out kayaking so it really torqued me. Needless to say we won't go back to that campground because management doesn't manage properly.

Another thing you might mention is decorative lights. We love to camp so that we can be outdoors and enjoy an evening campfire and see the stars. Some people have their campsites so lit up, it affects everyone around them. We were camping once and a lady was stringing her lights around the end of her camper, which was very close to our fire pit. We were sitting by the campfire and she didn’t seem to notice us, so I mentioned that we enjoy it darker so we can see the night sky. I’ve been camping in everything from a bedroll in the dirt to various RV’s, and everything from Forest Service wilderness to high end RV park. I’ve noticed over the past ten years or so that the conduct of a lot of campers leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve seen a lot of what was described in the video and more. We were camped in a Forest Service semi developed camp site often referred to as a yellow post site. The site was at the end of a long “driveway” and camping is only allowed in the area at designated yellow post sites. 8 am in rolls Cousin Eddy and his tenement on wheels and he sets up blocking our only way in and out and starts a campfire in the middle of the “driveway”. I approached Cousin Eddy and politely asked him to extinguish the fire as we were in red flag fire danger and move his rig to the empty yellow post site 1/4 mile away and unblock the “driveway” so that we could get in and out as we needed especially if a fire broke out. I was met with a series of f’bombs and told if I didn’t like it “I should have kept my flat land @$$ at home. Thankfully, I had a friend that worked for the Forest Service that came out to see us and found Cousin Eddy and his band of misfits and he went to jail for several warrants and the tenement on wheels got towed. I’ve had adjoining campers on several occasions send their raggamuffin children to ask for food when I’ve been grilling, people decide I didn’t need that much campsite and set up their equipment in my clearly marked site without asking and when confronted called a litany of expletives, purposely take their dog into my campsite at the fire ring to deficate and when asked to pick up after their dog laugh about it walk off and drop a bunch of derogatory expletives, people enter my site sit at my picnic bench and blaze up weed and more. Note: none of the locations where this has happened is inner city. It’s all been in what are typically nice state or federal campgrounds. The last incident occurred at Asseteague State Park along with a host of other nonsense like a truck parking in the middle of the night in our space blocking us in. I left until the morning and when I asked them to please, leave and was completely ignored. The only thing that got them to leave was getting the Conservation Police involved. What this comes to is that their is a large minority of people that SUCK. They think they can relocate their back yard to campgrounds and public lands and conduct themselves the same as if they were in their own backyard. It’s time to start calling these people out. If you have video don’t cover their face or their license plate and let everyone see who these folks are.

We arrived at a local state park at 5pm on Friday night and the previous camper was still in the spot we'd reserved, with all of their belongings strewn about. They seemed to be living in their RV with 4 young kids, so it was a lot of belongings. I went over to ask them to move and the woman who came out said her husband had to run into town and she didn't have keys, but they would move as soon as he got back (at this time it was 4 hours after checkout). I walked over to let the ranger know what was going on, and walking back, got a glimpse of them continuing to play outside, making no attempt to pack up. The ranger stopped by about half an hour later and then followed up, letting me know that they expected to be out of the site soon. We had squeezed our 30' motorhome in our friends slot next door and they had cooked us dinner, as we all stewed at the gall and kept watch on "our" site. Just before dark, a guy emerges from the trailer (turns out he had been there the whole time) and the kids all come inside, they turn off all of their lights. Another trip to the ranger, but they are closed for the night and we are furious. But I keep thinking about the young kids and don't really want to make a scene when the whole campground is settling in for the night. So we sleep awkwardly on an incline in front of our neighbors spot. About 1am, the hooligan interlopers wake us up with their lights shining right in our windows and their diesel pusher coming to life and they take off. It was a a terrible start to a weekend.

I remember on 1 occasion my husband and I camped at a dry campground and someone right next to us decided to use their loud big commercial type of generator all day into the night. There was no camp host to complain to, so we left very early the next morning. 2 again at a dry campground a middle-aged couple decided to blair their 60's music from big amplifying speakers that the whole campground could hear. Finally with complaints the host did drive over and told them to tone it down. That was not only irritating but surprising because this couple were not even teenagers, they were full grown adults. We call him the music man and we still talk about him today.

The neighbor on my right had a huge old fat Labrador that would cross my back yard every day to get to my neighbor's house on my left. That neighbor had piles of junk and trash in his back yard. The lab would go over there and grab something random like a frying pan. As he was dragging it across my yard on his way home, he would stop to take a massive dump. Then he would lose interest in that day's garbage selection and leave it in my yard. This was a daily occurrence. When I decided to remedy the problem, it only took me two days to convince that dog to cross the street and hide in the ditch on his way back and forth.

So, when I pull in and get out, I have this dog in full attack mode about 3 inches from my legs barking, growling and lunging at me. Scared the bejezus out of me the first time I pulled in. Then the owner sticks his head out the door and says, "Oh, his bark is worse than his bite." I may have said something smart-a$$ back, I don't remember exactly. Bottom line, it is just like you said. You guys are spot on! So far this year we have run into several 'newbys' and a couple arrogant people in the campgrounds. Frustrations are running higher than in the past but that's no excuse for being total jerks. I have printed out a list of "campground etiquette" and have NO PROBLEM placing that list, with certain violations highlighted, on the the offenders windshield. Safety is priority, courtesy is everything else.

My pet peeve - campgrounds with 5-10 mph speed limits where the golf cart drivers treat it as an Indy qualifier. Amazing how the same people who respect the campground speed limit will either rip through it themselves on a cart, or (worse) let their clueless kids speed on a cart.

We had checked into a site just outside of Yellowstone with our sweet vintage 80s-era Born Free camper. Relaxing by the fire having a cocktail. In rolled a huge (and lovely!) RV pulling a trailer with lots of ATVs and assorted toys. We were truly the underdog in this fight. The guy leaned out his window of his (probably) $400,000 camper and said the campground had made a mistake and they were supposed to have our site. The manager had simply made an error and assigned them our site. Didn't realize it. There were many other sites available, but this guy said, "We were REALLY looking forward to having your site. For the view." We just sat there and showed them our campsite thingy you put in your window. He stared at us hard and we sat back down. Really dude? they got the site across the lane from us and as they were setting up their dog started barking at our dog and our dog started barking at their dog. The guy said, "Is this going to be a problem?" I stood up, leaned into him, and said, "I don't know. IS IT?" They moved across the campground. Amazing privileged thinking! We still laugh about it today!

Down at the beach, when you wanna breathe in that cool ocean air, all those ppl who just gotta have a fire with driftwood or what ever is available and the smoke fills up your trailer or camper or whatever you have. Up in Northern CA last time we visited, the fires were raging inland and people were on the coast trying to stay cool and breathe fresh air. A group from Texas had a campfire going all day all night the whole time and refused to put it out EVER. It ain't camping if you can't have a fire, one guy explained. They even went down on the beach and left it going unattended. Truly ignorant. Once they left, both myself and another camper doused that damn fire with buckets of water until it quit smoking.

As I read some comments I WAS reminded of a new trend in camping that IS disturbing. That would be tent campers with no restroom camping in a dry camp area. It seems that poop freeks who are scared of their own poop do not have the decency to bury their poop with a shovel or a boot to keep the place sanitary. I like to camp in a area where I can let my dogs run around without a leash and one day one of my dogs came back with human shit all over her and it was really bad. Thank God I have an outside shower! I did use gloves in this case while giving the dog a bath. After the clean up I went to inspect where it came from and found human crap and toilet paper EVERYWHERE! There were at least 20 dump sites on the surface with paper included. I spent and hour cleaning it up so I didn't get another dog in it. I have ran across this on more than one occasion! Please people, bury your crap!

We've all encountered situations where we would like to "teach" the other guy a lesson, but I doubt rolling a distraction in font or or kicking their vehicle does anything other than raise the desire to further the confrontation. Getting a photo of the license and reporting to the park officials might go farther in the long run. Some time we just have to bite our tongue, so to speak. Otherwise, I enjoy sharing you adventures through your channel.

Michael, I agree. In face that ball hitting their car might be the thing that triggers that driver to SHOOT you. Every day I read about ridiculous shootings. I learned my lesson many years ago. If someone hit my car with anything, I would STOP and have a word with him and TEACH him how to handle that.
@dontworrydehappy7104

I agree with Michael. Rolling a ball or kicking a car is an aggressive move. Write down the license plate and report it to management. Being concerned for your child is quite understandable, but she does not need to see you get in a confrontation with somebody. Also make sure she knows to pay attention and get out of the road whenever a car comes. I really do enjoy your channel and thank you for teaching camping etiquette. :)

My hubby and I bought our first motor home 2.5 months ago, a class a Tiffin! You two are my favorite you tubers and we’ve learned so much from you guys! On our first trip we stayed a night at a harvest host. The place was amazing! We stayed in the parking lot and it was pretty hot outside. We pulled in fairly early and went to grab a bite to eat....when we got back someone in their fifth wheel pulled up right next to us, they were so close I was worried about our slides hitting them! There was an entire parking lot for them to park in yet they parked directly next to us! Since we were staying the night in the parking lot we were running the generator because it was way too hot.....which is allowed, these people in the fifth wheel came knocking on our door at 11 pm and asked us to turn it off! Obviously we were not too happy with this but we did turn it off.....but they were totally in the wrong, they shouldn’t have parked RIGHT next to us! Since this was a harvest host location and there were no hook ups and it was in the fairly large parking lot, using the generator was perfectly acceptable. What’s even worse is, even though we can’t prove this, we believe they removed the safety pin from our master tow! We didn’t discover this until we were already on the road and had made a gas stop! Someone could have been killed! These people were horrible!

Good point Mercedes, regarding people that don't show up! We're in the southwest portion of Canada, and campsite reservations are nearly impossible to get, but then there are those that get them, and don't show up! Recently there was a campsite, one under two hours from the city, so very popular, and someone found that there was at least 30 sites being unused, yet all sites where reserved! So, no one could get any of those unused sites, as someone had reserved them, and decided to go elsewhere, and just loose the reservation fee. No idea how to rectify this, as it's happened at many other locations as well, but it's turning into quite an ordeal, where many are having to just stay home, yet wanting to go camping, as there is literally NO sites left when they try to reserve!
@TinRoofVintage
@TinRoofVintage 2 года назад
It may be a good idea for Campsite Management to give reservations a time limit to be fulfilled ... for instance, institute a 4-hour check-in window. If Mgmt hasn't heard from them, reservations are forfeited. As well, if people stay 2 hours past check-out, they'd be charged hourly late fees.

During a 7 day camping trip at the Oregon coast with my wife and grandchildren. A rather large group 15 plus plp, took up a double site across from us. Showed up late (after 10pm) set up 2 rvs and 3 tents. Once completed camp, decided to start drinking and watching outdoor TV. Mind you that the site didn't have power. So the cheapest and loudest generator began to run. Not to mention that the bond fire was rather large. Thankfully no emergency happened, all the grass and the road was taken by the vehicles parked by our neighbors. At 330am everyone was drunk and passed out. Mind you this park is county ran and the grounds are managed by a couple that lives offsite. Too tired to call the sheriff decided to talk to the camp host the next morning. Before we got to talk to them 2 large 4x4 pulling sand rails and flying a confederate flag, pulls into the sight next to our favorite neighbors. On goes a fight with a hungover, loudmouth lady and husband. Yelling at them and telling them its against the law to fly that that flag. Didn't take long for the sheriff and deputies to show up. No I didn't call them. The camp host did. The host told them "sorry no refunds and to please vacate the camp grounds" so for the next few hours the 4x4 party and us watched them gather and throw all of their belongings & supplies into the vehicles. What a vacation.

@@andic1586 😢 let it marinate, it’s like the TP shortage, eventually people find something else to get nutty about and this time next year there will be lots of RV’s selling cheap. In the mean time the parks will normalize. My husband works in the financials industry and has been reiterating the fact that we are heading into a recession, so people will be selling off their toys and short lived hobby objects, and the economy will level off, so all of the nomads that stick with it will be safe and things will be a little less hostile. I don’t think I will be buying any 2020-2021 year model RV’s as I’ve heard on various channels that the workmanship has been less than stellar, simply trying to keep up with the demand. The park rules say 2 vehicles per campsite and have additional parking for the boat trailers and extra vehicles a very short walking distance from the campsites. We quit fulltiming, bought a home in country (no close neighbors) and now quit rving. All your complaints are ones we encountered. Our biggest complaint was "Barking Dogs". Unfortunately, the ones that need to hear this don’t watch the RV RU-vid channels. We had a weekend ruined because the campers next door left their two dogs alone in their camper all day and into the evening past the quiet hours. They barked non-stop. The park manager said they couldn’t do anything until they returned. The couple and their dogs were kicked out of the park the next morning. Our plan to sit in our chairs and enjoy the beautiful spot we reserved in advance for the peaceful spot on the edge of a preserve, were ruined. When they left they must have been mad. They hit a light pole and scraped their beautiful Lance trailer down the whole side on the way out. BTW, we were not the only people that complained about the dogs. It was the talk of the campground. If you have dogs, don’t leave them alone all day. Not only is it rude and breaks most campground rules, it is cruel to your dogs.

Dump station issues are the main reason I hate to stay in a campground without full hookups. You never know kind of idiots you're going to encounter. And it's not always other RVers. One time we pulled up in line for a station behind one other RV. There was a family in a minivan who had decided the center of the station was a nice place to park for their picnic since there was a table nearby. The guy ahead of me informed them they shouldn't park there. It's a rather large park/campground area with plenty of parking elsewhere. They moved for a few minutes until we both finished dumping. Then moved right back to the same spot, blocking the next trailer pulling in!
