Underrated is a highly overused term. The only people that would underrate Rudy don't have the first fking clue what they're talking about. The people who know better, know better.

to call someone underrated is not basically an act of recognition. all you say is: "nobody knew this guy" and thats in his case completely wrong.... everybody knows who he was and is.....

It really was a band; Blizzard of Ozz, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake were a big part of the sound and chemistry too, with Daisley supplying nearly all of the lyrics. Sabbath was more influential, they were true pioneers, but BoO surpassed them in terms of sheer musicianship.

I remember hearing about it on the radio...i was a huge fan of ozzy and blizzard/diary...what a hufe loss!

Frosty. There was a complete version read my a man with a British accent. I have the book and read it twice. I think I got it on Amazon for about 4 bucks used. There is a reading under “I Am Ozzy audiobook” read by a RU-vidr named Gypsy. Not professional but not bad. Only downside is it’s broken up in sections

Rudy was a fill in. Not even close to Bob Daisleys talent. Not even in the same class.

Bob Daisley, In October 1979, met Ozzy Osbourne at a venue called the Music Machine in Camden Town, after Osbourne had been fired from Black Sabbath. The pair hit it off and Osbourne suggested they form a band. They were soon joined by former Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads, whom Osbourne had recently met in Los Angeles. Daisley contributed bass, songwriting and co-production on the group's first album, Blizzard of Ozz, and co-wrote all of the material on the follow-up album Diary of a Madman but both he and drummer Lee Kerslake were fired before the second album was released. Bassist Rudy Sarzo received credit on Diary of a Madman, though he did not perform on it. Sharron Osbourne, bought the rights to those albums and to get out of Paying Daisley, and Kershaw She started releasing new versions of those albums with a other people playing the Bass & Drums. Just to get out of paying them. "There's no wonder why so many people hate Sharron Osbourne."

Sadly, never got to see him with Randy..did get to see him live with Jake, though...Jake kicked ass live..I think he was the best replacement for Randy Ozzy could have found..he still sounded "Ozzy"..never cared for the bullseye biker looking guy Ozzy had after that...

Disagree, Bob Daisley is what molded Randy. Listen to Randy Rhoads the Quite Riot years, and then The Blizzard of Ozz band live. Both are here on utube. Absolutely no comparison in Randy’s playing. Quite Riot was like a high school garage band. With Daisley and Kerslake it jumped to WORLD CLASS. Rudy is a clone player. Bob was an artist and the chemistry was with Bob and Randy. Randy didn’t mature until he met Bob.

What exactly makes this guy a legend? Name 1 bass line he’s ever written. Legends write great music, not just play other people’s great music. You can find great cover musicians anywhere.

Aww poor Ozzy ! He is so sweet and adorable and I would hate to see such a beautiful personality and human being in general go to waste ! I am glad he survived ! I will be keeping him in my prayers ! He’s my role model and he gets me through the most difficult times ! When I heard about Ozzy suffering, I cried every day . I know Ozzy is special and has been blessed by God . I know God will keep him alive ! He has earned everything good he has received and I will pray that he finds happiness and joy and that he gets through all of his times that I know he always has! He is my little fighter! I love that I am a lot like Ozzy ! It makes me happy !

*Ayecock* couldn't even physically fly that plane because he was high on cocaine. Besides that, both him and the plane were not certified. Did you know that he actually *STOLE* that plane? Finally, someone else who thinks highly of "The Ultimate Sin"...when it came out, it was my favorite for a good while, years later now, in retrospect, it may not be my favorite, but it is right up there. For me, Ozzy solo is "Blizzard of Oz", "Diary of a Madman"(Randy Rhodes), "Bark at the Moon", "The Ultimate Sin"(Jake E.Lee), those 4 albums..I saw Ozzy live on the Ultimate Sin tour in '86, and Ozzy sounded and looked great, and I can tell you, Jake was awesome live..he kicked ass. Too bad Ozzy doesn't seem to think much of the album now, it was a great album. I just never could get into the stuff after that, the material, or Zakk Wylde's playing style...despite Zakk being Ozzy's longest-serving guitarist, he just never sounded like "Ozzy" to me, and although he is really a great guitarist, I just don't care for his look, sound or playing style..for one, that little "woo-woo-woooo" thing he throws in at the end of every riff drives me nuts..just can't stand it....and the material.."No More Tears" and "Mama I'm Coming Home" just sounded like more boring cookie-cutter late 80's hair metal power ballads to me...yawn...

I'm not saying Ultimate Sin is a bad album. I'm just saying that was the point that Sharon started taking Ozzy to far commercial, and I basically lost interest.

Exactly.. POS Sharon had fired the greatest co-writers Randy had ever written with, and she would’ve fired Randy too if he hadn’t gotten so popular so fast. Daisley and Kerslake have said that many times and in fact an interview here on utube Daisley talks about him and Kerslake talking Randy into staying in the band and getting some money in his pockets before quitting. They say Randy wanted to quit when Sharon fired them. The Osbournes done the same thing David Coverdale did to John Sykes and the same thing Ronnie James Dio did to Vivian Campbell. Hired some great guns to write great records and screw em out of their part of the money.

Randy had grown disillusioned with both Ozzy and Sharon's antics, as well as not enjoying being a "rock star." Randy was a musical purist who wanted to keep advancing his skill and knowledge of the guitar. Yes, he did want to quit and go to UCLA for a degree in classical guitar. Don't doubt that he absolutely wanted to quit Ozzy's band and return to California

@@JokersWild70 I had also heard that Randy didn't like the music that he was creating with Ozzy. Ozzy had told him to create dark music. The original sound of Randy was Quiet Riot. However, I find it hard to believe that he didn't like what he was creating. Then again, we are our worst critics sometimes. He never created an Ozzy song with less than 17 chords in it. @@thebluesrockers and I can't verify how accurate or true this is but from what I read Randy also had an issue with either the record company or Ozzy(?) wanting to record a live album of nothing but Sabbath songs. Something about Ozzy's ego and wanting to show people & Sabbath who had the better band at the time and Randy was said to have felt this would be like taking a step backwards. No idea if there's any truth to this or not...but...it would add even more to the reasons he'd (Randy) want to leave.

@@incarnate6779 Randy hated Sabbath music. He did play some tunes live though. Ozzy, didn't actually want to record a "Speak Of The Devil" album. He only did that because Randy died, and he didn't have any Material for an original album. Ozzy got a lawsuit after recording that. Tony Iommi owns the right's to Sabbath. Geezer Butler, wrote most of those Sabbath lyrics. The reason Ozzy recorded that album was because he was under contract to put out an album. So Sharron told him to do it. Ozzy paid Iommi and everything got hushed rather quickly.

I don't think Randy hated working with Ozzy I just think his talents and ambitions were far more in depth than just being a heavy rock music guitarist for Ozz or QR. I think Randy was a little bit put off by Ozzy's wildness and partying but I think Randy really liked Ozzy and respected him and had a lot of patience with Ozzy on his ideals and he really brought out the best in Ozzy, in Sabbath Ozzy didn't really get to articulate alot of his musical ideals, but those first to Ozzy solo records were 2 of the greatest pieces of music ever made, and I know Daisley wrote a lot of lyrics but clearly Ozzy was in top of his game in Blizzard of Ozz

Addiction often occurs with mental illness and emotional problems. By using/drinking, an addict self-medicates and masks emotional pain. And there's also a genetic component. That said, addiction is very hard to deal with, especially in the face of grief. However, having emotional problems is a factor for addiction, not an excuse. @@tommilitello198 The fact that Ozzy continued to be an intoxicated slob, acting like a 12 year old, is hardly a secret. One of the biggest pricks in rock history. And when it comes to addicts and coping with trauma.... We all know how that one goes.

A sign that he was in shock. It is not uncommon to behave like that in a tragedy. It is the body defence-mechanism so weird behaviour may occur in when being on TV to keep face, being afraid to look weak (inside emotions triggers the smile). Go study psychology.
