One of the best bassists, and I'm proud to call him a friend. True story: met and played with Rudy at the rock n Roll fantasy camp and he later adds me on Facebook and I even had him talk on the phone with my dear friend/bandmate Grant Winand, who died of cancer 4 days later. In short, everything you heard about Rudy being a sweetheart is 100% true, and I'm proud to call him a friend! God bless him!

Randy Rhoads was a very bright light, and for Rudy to be able to be seen AT ALL while on stage with Randy speaks volumes for his stage presence and charisma. The fact that his music from 30+ years ago is still revered today is a testament to how amazing the band is that Ozzy put together.

I met Rudy Sarzo in 1983 in West Texas. He was playing with Quiet Riot on the Mental Health tour. I worked for production companies during the early 80s when I was 17 till I was 22. I was told to take Rudy wherever he wanted to go He told me he wanted some custom cowboy boots. I took him to a man that handmade boots. We then went to the record store and then to my house where he met my parents. We rode horses in the afternoon and then I took him back. He gave me a bunch of backstage passes. I took a bunch of my friends to the show. It was kick ass! Rudy Sarzo is a super talented bassist & truly great guy! Thank you Rudy for a day, I will always remember!

I’m continually blown away by Rudy! He does every interview and tells the same stories answering the same questions, especially about Randy and he never sighs or seems aggravated or resistant. He tells the stories like it’s the first time he’s telling it. And although he’s has this amazing career and played with some of the biggest bands, he knows he’s the conduit these interviewers are basically using him to get to Randy’s story and he’s completely gracious and at peace with it. What a cool and balanced human being Rudy is. Respect!

The quintessential embodiment of class. And a fabulously talented musician. (The part about not being a drug addict or an alcoholic is why he got the gig is the part that resonates with me the most. I landed a position on the crew with the Scorpions in the 90's because I didn't do drugs and was considered reliable. His own experience really resonated with me.)

I spent a lot of time out on the road as a Systems Engineer (A2) and it was filled with drunk bitter divorced men. The riggers, especially, seemed to enjoy meth, coke, crack - whatever uppers they could get their hands on. It is a hard life that looks an awful lot like Groundhog's Day with each show, venue and town and blending into one hazy noisy blur. It was easier being in the military.
@fredacuneo5180
@fredacuneo5180 4 года назад
@@fullclipaudio: It was definitely not glamorous for me either. Groundhog would be a good comparison. I drank a bit too much the first few days on the tour, to the point that I was going to quit that morning. But Rudy Schenker's guitar tech mentored me on what to do and how to survive, and it really helped a lot. Regular sleep, eating decent food from the catering table where the bands and management ate from, and two drinks a night after sobering up for a few days made ALL the difference. Big growing experience. Rudy, Mats and Klaus are all awesome people. Looking back, I wouldn't trade the whole circus of it all for anything. Cheers mate!

Met him in Madison, WI. in '83 @ a bar then called Headliners. He and Quiet Riot were there to support their Metal Health album that was just taking off. Rudy was the person I really wanted to talk to, and yes, he was a very nice man. I expressed my sadness about Randy's passing and that I was sorry that Rudy had lost his friend. He was appreciative and quiet, and I always hope I didn't upset him by speaking of Randy. It was something that was still breaking my heart at the time and I wanted so much to express it. I also called Musonia and spoke with Delores Rhoads to offer my condolences. She said she could not believe just how many Randy fans there were out there who would call. She was very touched and just a sweet, sweet lady.

A lot dealt with publishing rights. Jake stated he composed the first album after joining and Sharon informed him they were assuming the master tapes for Bark at the Moon. Jake had no legal protections and had to accept them taking the tapes or be fired on the spot. The next album Jake protected his publishing rights on The Ultimate Sin (1986) LP and.it went downhill after that. I think the same may have happened with George and he wanted out after reading the fine print of the contract........and even helping find his replacement (Lee).

I met Rudy, with Randy and Ozzy, Sharon and Tommy A. I was a bellman working in Phoenix AZ at the then Hilton hotel. I was a employee so they didn't treat me like some crazed rabid fan. Ozzy was out of it, smoking, drinking, drugging out of his mind! Sharon at that time (the 80's) was a little heavy and didn't have all the cosmetic surgery yet. Being hispanic Rudy asked if I spoke Spanish? I told him yes and we continued talking in Spanish to me. He was totally down to earth, happy and grateful guy! I talked to Randy pretty extensively and he was a super cool guy (man he sure had a runny nose)! The only guy that wasn't cool but he still gave me his autograph was Tommy A. I was just a young man and I didn't know better, but I asked him "what happened to Pat Travers?" He got really quiet and said " it's just business man". After reading how Tommy had been through (he's been around) I can understand why the guy is a jerk still love his playing). Peace everyone and yes I remember when I heard the news about Randy! I was so bummed out but when I showed my autograph to my friend, I knew I met someone special. Peace and love.

Randy Rhodes 🌹✨ I remember the day he passes on - my school in California announced it on the school PA system and we had high school radio station KLEL Leland High school ... very sad time Years later, I worked for Vinnie Paul & Diamond Darrell Abbott /“Pantera” for 15 yrs and i was able to meet so many genuinely kindhearted musicians in the rock n roll industry and most everyone spoke kindly of Randy Rhodes 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (Of course Ozz-Fest Bands as well -Dallas Texas)

See. This is why I rarely post on RU-vid. I make a genuine complimentary comment about a musician I admire and some knucklehead has to douche it up for me. Thanx.

That was one of Ozzy's best Lineups ever. Would have been great if Ozzy could have kept Rudy. Randy Rhoads a class act. He knew Rudy was the right guy and wow these guys helped put Ozzy back on the map again.

I met Rudy (and his brother Robert) in 2013 when he was playing in Geoff Tate’s incarnation of Queensryche. He was such a friendly, kind person. Robert was really nice as well. Both of these guys were just really personable and classy individuals. Unfortunately, Geoff came across as a douche nozzle, but I will always remember Rudy for being so humble and welcoming. You really couldn’t ask for a nicer person.

After all I’ve heard in interviews from so many musicians about Sharon Osborne and for Rudy to not want to mention that side of her proves he’s a class act. He chose to only mention the positive where I would still find it perfectly acceptable if he mentioned the ugly side of that woman.

Gotta give kudos to Rudy for sticking to it. A lot of people had a piece of music die in them that fateful day in March of 1982.

Rod Johnon ] How is it possible to even say what you said? Rudy has played with all most every band there is. He is NO where near under rated. Your as confused as they come.

When I think of the term "class"or" that guys got class", Rudy Sarzo seems to me like a textbook example on it. I'd love to hang and just listen to all of the incredible stories he has bound to have on touring over the years, I think his would actually be real and accurate. He seems to really still have his brains and all. Ride on Rudy, your definitely a badass
