Having recently purchased a Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle, I thought I’d do a quick review on how it’s going so far. It’s with the flash arrestor, blued, 16.5 inch barrel and laminated stock.
Great review Mauser Man. For those of you who haven't bought a Gunsite Scout yet, when you do, dry fire the snot out of it! After about a thousand bolt cycles and trigger pulls, my Scout's action and press are buttery smooth. So, if you can be patient, consider saving the gunsmith money for a few extra boxes of ammo, and just work the action for a couple weeks instead. Cheers!
Like chalk and cheese, very smooth and getting the trigger done helps in accuracy. I have bought a synthetic stock one with muzzle break for my partner as she doesn’t like recoil and it’s going to get the same. The trigger is way too heavy. Thanks for the comment
The bare rifle without scope was $1,575 . The gunsmith charged me $100. Definitely suitable for deer. In fact with perhaps 165gr projectiles, you could even hunt Red or Sambar deer. Although for that I would get an aftermarket 5 shot magazine. Cheers
Replace the stock to a synthetic Ruger and replace the mags with Magpul. The factory 10 shot mags are rubbish and fall apart under recoil. Hopeless only taking 8 rounds.
