Ruger SR22, Range Review! 

A hammer drop safety is not an uncommon feature in auto pistols. It takes the gun out of single action but take the safety off and double action trigger pull is available. I like that as a safety feature.

Great to see a video on this firearm. We have two of them, and they are really nice, semi auto, .22 pistols. They are also extremely reliable and inexpensive. My only issue with it is the upside down safety. A normal safety is down for "fire", this is up for "fire", so I keep riding it like a normal thumb safety on a 1911. Drives me nuts! As to the safety/decocker, we found you have to leave the safety off then load the mag and rack it. Then you can start shooting in single action. The decoker is nice feature on double action/single action firearms, especially if you want to carry it locked an loaded. Great video.

What you’re calling a thumb safety is actually a decocker. It’s actually a nice common feature in a double action/single action (da/sa) gun. You can still pull the trigger when it’s decocked it just takes much more force to pull the double action trigger on the 1st pull. Then the rest of the shots will be a lighter pull in single action. It’s a safe nice system. I’m interested in one for a training gun now. Since they don’t have the Sig P322 on California roster yet unfortunately

You have to shoot high velocity ammo through it to fet the consistant blowback

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I think I'm going to buy one for my father. He's older guy now in his 70's and he can't really shoot any of the bigger caliber guns anymore because of the recoil. He even struggles to shoot 9mm. But i think this 22 is perfect for him. I see your point about the thumb safety putting the hammer back, but for him i think it'll be just fine. Thank you brother. Great little plinking gun. I would like to see if you could get a walther p22q and see how it compares to your Ruger.

Its a double action/ single action firearm. The decock puts it into double action. Flip the safety off and pull the trigger.
