Attributes and materials that make the Firelight the worlds first and only Survival Flashlight;
1: Lens housing is made of 6061 T6 Aluminum and has a crenelated bezel.
The bezel can be used as a chisel for making tinder as well as a defensive weapon, or break a car window in the event of an emergency.
2: Lens is 2.0mm thick polycarbonate material.
Polycarbonate is shatter and scratch proof. We use the 2.0mm thickness to further insure the durability of our light.
3: Cree XPG-R5 drop in rated at 450 lumens.
Cree is an industry leader in quality and durability of L.E.D. lights and is a perfect fit for the Rugged brand. With the use of the 18650 battery the R5 drop in at 450 lumens provides a very bright beam with a very long duration of 10 to 12 hours of continuous light.
4: Power is supplied from an 18650 3.7v 3400mAh Li-ion Rechargeable battery with circuit protection (PCB).
Lithium- ion rechargeable 18650 at 3400mAh batteries have a very large capacity and provide a continuous and powerful source of energy to be used to recharge any portable electronic device be it cell phone or GPS or any other device that needs an emergency charge.
5: Power is routed through two IP67 rated switches.
IP67 switches are the top of the line for rugged durability and reliability. They are sealed and completely impervious to the elements.
6: Ruggedized Micro USB Charge/ Recharge port that is dirt and water resistant.
Our Li-Ion circuit board will withstand most inclement weather conditions and provide a continuous power supply when charging or re-charging. It also has built in circuit protection to condition the battery and to protect against overcharge and over current to give the longest life to your power supply or device.
7: Main housing is made of 6061-T6 Aircraft grade aluminum.
6061-T6 Aluminum is used in the production of Aircraft and is very light weight and corrosion resistant as well as being very strong. The housing is also coated and treated with an Alodine solution to further protect the Firelight from the harshest of environments.
8: Firelight is internally filled with High Temperature R.T.V. silicone.
Being filled with R.T.V. will give the Firelight the advantage of being the first and only flashlight that is completely sealed internally. This provides a water tight, heat resistant, impact and shock absorbing protection for all internal parts. Currently we are looking into getting an ANSI rating for explosion proof use in enclosed fuel cells and other highly flammable areas.
9: Heater Element is removable/ replaceable and made of Inconell wire.
Inconell wire is used extensively in the Aerospace industry because of it's ability to withstand very high temperatures and still keep it's shape. Inconell wire can be heated and cooled without compromising the integrity of the wire. The Element has the ability to be removed from the contact and put into a holding position that makes the heater element completely inert for safe storage.
10: Hammer cap (element cover/end cap of Firelight) is 6061-T6 Aluminum with a 300 series Stainless Steel insert.
Using the Hammer cap you are able to use it as an implement to drive tent stakes into the ground or if needed to drive nails into or through wood. It also provides protection to the heater element and can carry tinder while keeping it completely dry.
11: Solar panel with 5000mAh Li-polymer battery attached.
I have combined existing technologies so you will always have power day or night. With the solar/ battery charger, you are able to charge the Firelight when not in use during the day via the solar panel. Then at night, using the Lithium-polymer battery with the OTG cables, you can charge almost any device!
