The conjunction cum can introduce temporal clauses when the verb in the clause is in the indicative mood. In other words, cum means "when" and shows the precise time of the main clause when the verb is in the mood used for factual actions. This video explores this concept with examples from the ancient world.

Now how does this pair with rule 34?

It pairs with that rule because of your immaturity.

not very much; the Temporal Cum Clause does not directly modify the Direct Object Accusative.

I don't understand the eorum in fulgentīs gladiōs hostium vidēbant Deciī cum in aciem eorum inruēbant. Eorum is masculine or neuter plural genitive , so of their. Should it somehow go with hostium?

The eorum does refer to the enemies, but it is used as a pronoun in its clause. The fact that it and hostium are both genitive is just a coincidence of their use.

fulgentis gladios Shouldn't it read: fulgentes gladios

The -īs ending for accusative plural, especially with participles, is relatively standard, especially in 1st century BC and earlier works. It's only later, and in modern textbooks, where the -īs changes to an -ēs.
