I just LOVE rulerwork quilting. It is one of my favorite ways to finish a quilt. Essentially, you put a special foot on your machine and follow the curve or straight line on your ruler to create a perfectly consistent shape EVERY TIME!
In today's video I introduce you to Squiggy, one of the rulers developed by Angela Walters with Creative Grids. They can be used on a longarm or domestic sewing machine, but I especially love them for home sewing machines because they are small enough to maneuver in a small throat space.
The packaging comes with some great ideas of designs you can create with the ruler, and we cover four of them in today's video. You'll learn how to quilt along both sides of the ruler to create a fun wavy shape, border waves, clamshells and a very dense ribbon that would look great in a 3-inch border.
This is just the tip of the iceberg on what you can do with this ruler. The possibilities really are endless. But this is a good start and I know you will love it!
And if you want more of an intro to rulerwork, make sure to check out our video on Slim and Elvira, two other rulers designed by Angela Walters. In that video I cover several straight line and curved quilting designs you can use in your next quilt. You can watch it here: shop.quiltaddi...

My Viking Rose doesn't have a ruler foot. I'm not sure whether the shank is low, med, or high?

I have worked with the rulers on practice pieces however when I try and use them on a queen or kig size quilt I have a great deal of difficulty because of the weight of the quilt. Do you have any tips o working on a large item? I have a longarm that I work on. Thanks

If you are working on a longarm you need to be sure you have a ruler base. I prefer not to float my quilts when doing ruler work, I want my quilt as secure as I can get it, but that is a personal preference. Patience and practice! You've got this!

No, you need a ruler foot. It is different, we have it linked in the video description.

Are you using your foot pedal or your start button? If it’s a pedal,I may have to look for mine.😬I’m not sure where it is.
