I'm glad you enjoyed this one! Yeah, over here the big ore carriers spent ages pushing for one man and even completely automated trains (haven't checked yet whether any have managed to operate with no crew at all, but one man crews are definitely a thing!) My uncle is a software engineer who worked on a literal remote control (controllable from an office over a thousand kilometers away) train automation system for Rio Tinto some years ago, one of BHP's competitors in the ore business. And yup, we do use american power! Big, beefy engines that are generally reliable in harsh conditions are vital here. Plus we don't have the loading gauge restrictions britain has. As for tall tale or not, well... let me know if you want to know which it was! 😺
