At my one of my last cosplay photoshoots, it was an EdWin shoot. I was Edward and my maternal friend was Winry. We were shooting at Ft Tryon park and decided to go up to the cloisters for some Victorian scenery. We were shooting by the exit, took a snack break, then got back to shooting only for a security guard who knew very little English to just yell at us “no photos, go!” And that was the first time security kicked me out of somewhere while cosplaying.
I've had 2 run-ins with security with the same prop. It's this 90cm long Railway Rifle from Fallout 4, made out of EVA foam and painted rust brown. The first was after a convention, security at a trainstation was really hyped and asked questions and wanted a picture with it. Super cool dudes! The second time was when I was walking home from a friend (also after a con), and I took a shortcut through a CenterParks (holiday park with bungalo's). I happened to work there. Stupid me asked if there was no-one that had seen it that night.... Got reported to the higher ups and had to defend myself from getting an official warning...
Next week I'm going with 2 huge swords (foam and wood) to convention that's in different country... Soo I'm kinda scared of travelling with them... I hope that some security won't stop me on my way
I'd look up the "security rules" and maybe pack your weapons in tons of bubble wrap, so that they don't look like weapons. conventions have their weapon rules, so I guess the same applies to trains/busses/airports (however you're travelling). or maybe call the place and ask them how you can transport that safely :)
I really enjoy your videos! I was wondering how your voice acting class is going... are you still enjoying it? I hope so... I would think that would be an interesting and fun job possibility!!! Take care, Shari
Hi Shari! I've taken a bit of a break from VA classes, but will be returning to classes at a new school next week! I'm looking forward to getting back into it. ☺️
I get so excited when I get notifications from Anya videos let's gooo. I'm getting the last thing I need for a cosplay in the mail today so this is perfect for setting the vibe
I'm suprised at the first story, so before it was ok and at that day not anymore? For the second story I expected a angry security guard, but nope, flirting it is. xD In most case I have become a bit warry of security personel [anywhere] - police is ok most of the time.
Momocon in Atlanta uses the CNN Center's food court for food so there's security EVERYWHERE inside there during the con. And they are strict, which is understandable since it is a very notable news business. I wasn't even in cosplay and I was trying to go and mail one of my props back home at the USPS inside there. They kicked me out even after I tried to tell them I was just going to mail this package. They, very sternly practically yelling at me, told me to get out. And yet they didn't even yell at my mom who went to mail the package for me instead.
One time I was dressed as Freddy Fazbear and I was walking by security guard and then I turned to look at him and just stared him down for a few seconds before walking off, he laughed at it and thought it was cool
Kids like your second story are the ones that never got invited back when I was working security at conventions. Then again, he sounded like building security, and not convention staff, which might be even worse. How many other people did he do that to while he worked there? That being said, I'm pretty sure that there are still "security guard interaction" stories about me, even after all these years. Like the Naruto cosplayer that I scared half to death when I saw him trying to ninja run along the barrier wall between the garden court and pool of the hotel we were in. Yelled from the other side of the court, "get down from there!" Before i cut across the court to confront him. Honestly, watching him try to puff up in front of his friends, then deflate as I gave him a dressing down about how stupid and dangerous it is to do that - seriously, kid could have easily slipped, fallen the six feet to the tile floor, hit his head, then rolled into the pool to drown before anyone could pull him out (pool had already closed by that time of night)- was one of the highlights of that weekend. You've got me realizing that I've got so many security stories that I haven't really been able to tell anyone for a few years. Most of the people I talk to were already there
alright, i wasn't expecting that plot twist I am freaking surprise, also, I know what is having a hard time (you said it in your previous video) but I'm completely sure that you will overcome this cause you're talented, passionate and a funny person all your videos are the the proof of it
The one time I've been to sakura con, i had a run in with a very rude and power-tripping security guard And honestly I think I'd prefer my encounter over yours lol
