For me the greatest mystery of WW2 is how Hitler hoped to defeat the Allies. Honestly, how do you want to defeat a nation willing to never surrender, a bunch of Slavic and other peoples accustomed to suffering and hardship whose territory covers 1/6 of Earth's land and an industrial superpower who sends material aid to the nations mentioned above? Especially with allies like Italy and Japan.

What adds to that is the fact it pretty much was only Hitler that had hopes the Axis would win, although most of his generals, soldiers and citizens lost most of their faith in him by late 1943.
Fact is: Hitler had terrible allies himself. Had Italy been more competent and focused on defeating the Allies, the axis would clearly win, as Germany was extremely superior to the UK and France in many ways, and could have defeated the USSR if they had actually taken care of the Allies beforehand.

my great grandfather fought in WW1 and was to old for WW2 and when hitler died he celebrated listening to this song {idk if true my great grandmother told me so before she died}
My great grand father was one year away from serving in ww1 and too old for world war two his father and his fathers 2 brothers served in ww1(all of them survived) in the Middle East, India and The somme along with other places in Flanders. Interesting we still have so many family records along with loads of post cards my great grandfather and his father were both in the territorials. None of this has any relevance to anything I am bewildered to why I thought to mention it.
