Hi all, huge Iron Maiden fan here, going the concert here in Arizona on Thursday(already took Friday off I will still be in concert mode) I Have to say this a great cover. In my opinion the sound is excellent. I sure a lot of Madien fans will hate this cover but hey to each his own i say. i love it. IRON MAIDEN FOREVER!!!!!!! blessed be to all, my friends
I find it weird that so many people who claim to like the original cannot see the greatness of this cover. Sure, it is not the same; it is in fact very different. It is an interpretation of the original that quite frankly does a very good job of conveying the lyrics. If you don't like the music - fine. But don't say it destroys the original when it gives such homage to the original.
I have been an Iron Maiden fan from the beginning and I will never forget how hard driving the original song is, but this does take one a little back. The pace allows you to envision the tragedy of the Native American. You don't rock out as with the original. I like this cover.
I'm with you sir. Up the Irons! Since the early '80's. I-M got me thru high school, well them, loads of crappy Mexican weed, studying/practicing drums every day and playing in bands. I used to know every drum beat and lick up through Power Slave. At which time soon after, a bassist exposed me to funk and jazz. Chic Corea and all the jazz greats. I left metal behind. But I still rock the first five albums on a regular basis. whenever I listen to this tune, at least once a week, I have to hold back the tears, though sometimes, when I'm alone and in the right safe place, I let them flow. I live in Ute and Navajo country, and I often think of the Native American's plight. I have no answers. But I have respect and compassion for them. My wife has taught on the reservation for many years, and many of her stories are quite tragic, and yet within the horror she has come to know some amazing Natives and find the beauty in these amazing people. I am fortunate to live amongst Native Americans. It's an experience most would not expect to be special, but it is. I even once played a funk/rap gig with a band from the Rez. They we're awesome.
IM invented the heavy gallop. dum, du du dum, du du dum. It was their signature groove for many of their tunes. and they nailed that feel for Run to the Hills. Harris and Dickinson were two very unique artists in their own way. The chemistry was, well... it's history now.
thanx for taking a part of IM song, and making it even more memorable for the message it had before, only IM can get into the heart of the world and be the inspiraton to the rest of the muscicians
Why can't a person like a song for its lyrics? If you only listen to music because of how "heavy" it sounds, I might argue that you have a very simplistic, shallow understanding of music. I'm not a huge Iron Maiden fan, but I love this song because of the lyrical content. That's not to say I don't also love the beating, galloping effect added to it by the pounding percussion, but strip it of all the music, and it's still amazing. It's poetry, really.
I seen it but don't remember it that well, I might need to see it again. I saw it after Requiem for a Dream which is much more of a deep impacting movie. If you never seen that movie you should. It might be the most depressing movie ever made, in a good way. I feel bad at least for two hours after seeing that movie, which is a lot to say for a movie.
Critics are critics. Whatever you've heard, you got a lot of people as well as me, who like your talent and this is a very nice cover of Run to the hills! (If this youtube channel doesn't belong to any of those guys well hey this is a great song anyway!)
The band itself like metal.Saw a concert yesterday in augsburg. They are doing a good job. This is called lounge metal and it really is! Totally relaxed and a bit crazy.Bad lyrics and gently music.Like it so much!Metal fans don´t take the project so serios!Have a bit fun!
RTTH is my favorite Maiden song. But I never paid attention to the lyrics, just the cool music and powerful vocals. even though the lyrics are the same... this song is a completely different tune. I think the message in the lyrics gets lost in the maiden version, this version relys completely on the content of the lyric. good job!
In my (humble) opinion, this melody is more suiting to the lyrics than the original melody. That beeing said, I will no go fetch the fire extinguisher and put on some fire resistant clothes. Flame away ;)
It works because I say it works. Or because Invictus says it does, and it doesn't work because I say it does or someone else says it doesn't. And the artists too. That's art in a nutshell.
lik haiska said, the lyrics fit better in this version, because its all extra metal. the reason y ppl hate this version is because they are so used to the original. everything else in their opinion is crap. i actually like it
Very different. It's hard to call this a cover on madens version. This is like a whole new song whit the lyrics from run to the hills. But still think madens version is better. But I really like this one too.
grow up, its a cover, it does sound like the original melodywise only a bit of a twist and its more calm, and if you cant hear that you tonedeaf. Great cover, great song, ironmaiden and hellsongs both rock.
Hellsongs, respect. Since i heard this version i heard the lyrics and the song became much deeper and sad. Poor indians, sometimes you hate white people!!!
I like it, sounds strange at first. But you get too think about what tragic text it really is. You don't really think about that when you rock out to the (excellent) original. The guys in this band should stick to their instruments though.
The lyrics are really heavy, I mean, it is about genocide. I feel the somber tone of this cover suits the lyrics better than that of our beloved original metal version. (Don't get me wrong, the original far surpasses.) Just appreciate every aspect of the song, not just the parts you can bang your empty skulls to. I applaud an "original" cover for once, and not those 30/40somethings trying to relive their glory days in some shitty bar with their shitty cover band.
@holaadios12345 well. no. i have to disagree. it's pretty much the same song in words AND music. it's just very different in tempo and style i happen to like it. i love Maiden and i hate bands trying to impersonate them because they are usualy a pale imitation of the real thing. this is a very different an very well done take on the song.
