Daisy & I finally get to try out the Hot Tent. It worked great!!! Until it was time to go to bed, that is. We ended up sleeping in the Cool Camp... but we still had FUN!!!

Yes... we were! In fact, I wonder if that may be a reason that Daisy kept going outside. She may have needed to cool off. For my very first hot tent camping trip, I would say that we were very warm. I can't wait to see what the next trip brings. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
As always I enjoyed another great video from you. I think Daisy is going to have to get use to the fire wood popping in the stove, she sure didn't like that. I think screws in the pipe will help it stay together and safe and you need a self supporting stand to hold the end of your pipe. If the wind started blowing it could have pulled the stove pipe into the tent and caused all kinds of problems. Just trying to help, stay safe and warm, an give Daisy a hug for me. 👍👍🕊🕊
Thanks Larry! Daisy loved her hug!!! Another viewer said the same thing about her getting used to the noise coming from the stove. I'm sure that she will after a few trips in it. My Uncle suggested drilling a hole through each section of pipe (where they join together) and simply putting a metal rod through them to hold them together. That actually sounds easier than screwing them together with sheet metal screws. I'm going to try that on the next trip. Stay tuned... and as always, thanks for the comment and watching!!!
You should get an ember mat. I got one on amazon for under my pop up fire pit. Would be good to keep under that stove. The pop up fire pit is also nice. I have a solo stove and a propane fire pit (for fire bans), but the pop up pit is much more compact that the solo and you can actually warm your feet under it. Plus it’s easier to travel with as it folds down into a tiny bag.

Be careful with the heater in the tent. I think Daisy did not think it was safe! :). Maybe get you an add a room for the Cool Camp and use an gas heater in it to sit around in and then turn it off and fire the generator up to use the electric heat when it’s bed time. Thanks Curron! I have 3 theories about why Daisy didn't like the tent. #1 was the popping & crackling sounds coming from the stove. She would jump every time it did that. #2 is that it may have been too hot for her. Maybe she kept going outside to cool off? #3 could be that she was smelling some carbon monoxide. I didn't have a detector with me on this trip, but I will get one for the next trip! Anyway... thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate the comment and you watching the video!!!
Your dog will get used to the fire popping. You should get yourself a pair of gloves that are made to handle hot items. I use my charcoal fire starter with a frying pan set right on top of it. No grill needed. Cooks real good! Cooks hamburger, hot dogs etc.
Hi David! I sure hope that Daisy does get used to the noise from the stove. She loves to play in the snow and I'm planning on doing a lot more hot tent camping. It wouldn't be the same if I had to go alone! F.Y.I. - I haven't forgotten about your suggestions for the stove pipe issues. The original tapered pipe that came with the stove included some self tapping sheet metal screws. I'm thinking about using them on the next trip to secure the pipe sections together to see how that works out. Thanks for the comment and watching!!!
@@davidhaden4363 I think the real stove pipe will fit together better than that heat duct everyone sells for stove pipe. But since I bought the stuff years ago, who knows until you get some. True Value used to sell it and maybe Tractor Supply does. Check where it's made. Imports are thinner. You want the thickest metal. There may have been something prowling around your campsite the other night. Might be why Daisy was restless, not the fire in the stove. You did hear something crashing in the woods nearby. What? Who knows. Always carry protection.
@davidlang4442 - We did hear something crashing in the woods behind us! But I still believe it was just a tree falling. I don't carry a handgun (which I am considering), but do always carry bear spray with me. Even in the wintertime, when the bears are supposed to be hibernating. I hope my next reply doesn't offend you... but I don't want the heavier stove pipe. I'm trying to keep everything as lightweight as I can. Eventually, I plan to haul all of this stuff into the wilderness in a sled, while I pull it with my snowshoes on. I still appreciate all the advice that you have given. Being new to this, I can see that I have a lot to learn. Thanks for being a regular viewer and for the comments!!!
Hi Harloh! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the video! We were West of Fort Collins, CO. We took CO Hwy 14 (locally known as the Poudre Canyon Hwy) westward for about 30 minutes until we came to county road 63E. That's known as Pingree Park Road and has the CSU Mountain Campus at the end of it. It's also a Roosevelt National Forest access road and provides several camping opportunities.
