I guess I'm confused how necromancy isn't a big content update. It is a new 120 skill, a new city, many new quests, a new storyline, we got hermod, rasial, vorkath, and soon to be necro matriarch. The quest line will lead to new archeology and dungeuneering sites, and what seems to be a tease at another new boss or two in the future. We got all the content to get and upgrade gear. We got t95 necro gear. Vorkath also brought insane buffs to ranged with elite draco. Not everything needs to be for endgame players. Trust, I enjoy the endgame, but I also understand the old content is insanely outdated and needs to be updated. You'll never have a chance at new players when the early content is so clunky and graphics awful. I think you're really not giving them an ounce of credit. And when everyone complains about literally everything, they are pushing more people away form the game, reducing resources even more, and will lower content updates.
the player base reflects state of the game. people are bored. season events aint bringing us back so stop wasting time developing things like hero pass
Hot take, RS could litterally go into maintenance mode, and it's still a great game worth membership with years of content that I'd happily continue to play. Of course, it has kinks that could be ironed, but overall, it's still an outstanding game. Of course, I'd want it to continue. I'd want new stuff, so there's even more to do. Im not saying i dont. I just think a good number of people are super up in arms, and i dont get it. I also think the recent ownership veey likely did a lot of damage. Lots of predatory pushed mtx.
THIS, content creators need to stop projecting on the community and just go to osrs. Theres loads more rng for you to create content over, because if you think Varlamore is not rng and grinding based you're lying to yourself.

While I agree some more content would be nice, I can’t help but notice that everyone complaining the loudest are content creators/end game players who spend an unhealthy amount of time playing this game. Life is about balance. Having a healthy relationship with the game and not hanging on every update like your happiness depends on it isn’t healthy. If you aren’t spending 10+ hours a day playing the game you’ll most likely still have lots to do. I came back from a 9 year break 4 years ago and I’m having more fun playing now than I ever have. And honestly getting sick of all the negative Nancy’s whining non stop and about jagex. There are still some great content creators out there putting out great content even currently.

Seeing the low player count makes me so sad. I recently have watched my home world 22 dwindle down in population. Even during peak hours it’s not what it once was. Sometimes wars retreat is dead, I think the frustration just comes from us caring about this game. I’ve played since 2007 on and off, I’ve amassed 1.5b xp, I’ve done raids and bosses with friends but those same friends left the game. The player base is dying and idk what the solution is. I think what would be a good start is if they reached out and said what was happening I always think if it’s the code that’s hard to do? No one wants to work for them or are they not hiring? Lastly I would hate to see the game die but if it continues like this then I may not stick around. While I still have goals such as finishing ports for comp it wouldn’t sit right with me to continue supporting a company that doesn’t see past milking us for mtx and refuses to work on this game. They’re destroying a legacy and I feel bad for the devs that do care but can’t make a difference. I’m all over the place but hope it’s understandable. Just a veteran maxxed player who doesn’t want to see their favorite game die.

Over 19 people i personally know have quit in the past year So parched are the posts that in most cases, there is no hope whatsoever. I'm a rs3 player, and we've had a lot of hardships, but I'm going to fight this through to the end, whatever end that may be.
Majority of these comments are braindead, no thought at all into what they are saying. How many other games model is "pay a monthly fee for NOTHING except stuff we released ages ago"? If I buy a game and complete it, I can return to it for FREE and play some more. RS is a monthly game.... With ACTIVE developers that are developing NOTHING except MTX updates every week! "it's only elitest vets complaining, games 20 years old what do you expect" this comment makes no sense and contradicts itself. Think about it, a 20 year vet should just drop the game? What? And what happens when the returning player telling other players to shut up completes all the stuff from 10 years ago too? Bottom line, RS3 is FILLED with MTX that gets weekly content drops. It's a monthly fee game also. And it gets NOTHING except the devs excuses about what they cannot do. Why all of a sudden can they not do anything? This is a new phenomenon for RS3 which always had no issue doing seasonal content drops for holidays AND permeant game content. OSRS is literally developed in the same building and they have no mtx and have HUGE content drops weekly! OSRS is also 11 years old, plenty have "completed" it, and they have weekly new content! But if we complain about that on RS3 we get shut down and called elitest?
The only players that should be complaining about new content are those with Master Completionist Trimmed capes! The rest of you should get cracking on those achievements...

So I was wondering when you would drop this video based off of what you were posting on Twitter and I can tell when a Content Creator isn't really happy about the game since I've seen it happen too many times. I agree there has been a lack of content in general and early 2024 mirrors what happened early year of 2019 until they released the teasers for the development of Archaeology and then all the stuff they did afterwards. Ironically OSRS has also had massive lack of content for a good chunk of time they were developing stuff because their community completely stopped everything that was polled for multiple years and only now is probably considered as their Golden Years where there pumping out so much because the community has actually passed it. RS3 is interesting in that they take risks with the game. RSC to RS2, RS2 to RS3, Necromancy, Invention, and many more things that broke the mold of what defined the game and right now they have made significant changes with Combat because there aren't a majority of players not sitting in Legacy mode playing the game. I think them not being as successful with Necromancy (not to mention Garbage Pass) has forced them to relook at how they want to make a successful product. The first thing they attempted post Necromancy was have good Seasonal Events again since the FashionScape/ScreenScape and Art communities have a massive presence on Discord and Twitter even though they don't have too many Content Creators since they love the Seasonal Cosmetics. Mod Keeper comes from a seasonal event game which is Fortnite and they utilize that model. Unfortunately they full focused on it which isn't smart at all in my opinion because we have so many different RS3 Communities even though they made successful Christmas and Easter Events. The fortunate thing is that they developed it in a manner so that they can reuse the assets. One of the big issues for Seasonal Events is that they take up a significant amount of Development time for all games. Look at OSRS, their seasonal events are pretty terrible in my opinion because that community doesn't really value them so those events have gotten worse and worse. Meanwhile Fortnite which focuses on big seasonal events considers that as their main content when they aren't doing the Season transitions or doing a Promotion (they just nerf/buff stuff looking at data). RS3 has a good chunk of its community login to do the Seasonal Events and thats how its been for decades and it will probably be like that for the future too. The big plus is that because they have massive landmasses for both Easter/Winter and most likely Halloween too, is that they can just reuse the landscape and not waste Development time on it. I think one of the major flaws in RS3 is actually its art style, right now there are places that look amazing which are the Arc/Menaphos/Um but then we have stuff that is ancient like a majority of the older areas like the Fremminik/Elvargs Lair/Yanille and more. Meanwhile OSRS embraced its art style a decade ago and that all the content is developed in that style. Because RS3 is trying to create a more modern MMO art style (which I am a massive fan of) they have been spending a significant amount of Dev time on landscapes since thats how you sell the visual aspect of a game when new people look at a game. Mod Blkwitch and her team did the Dungeons, Kandarin landscapes (not everything but a lot), Um, Fort and a few more things over the past year which is all to bring a more modern RS3 game look. I noticed you didn't mention Art content in the video because a lot of people don't value this as content especially if you are a veteran player. I mention this because this is a significant upgrade to Raellka and the Fremminik areas because of all the work they put in to develop this. Not to mention no game would redevelop its landmasses if they plan to turn off their game in the future since that would be a massive waste of resources. Meanwhile the Lore stuff, I know you mentioned the Grandmaster stuff but your quite inaccurate about that because based off the communication that happens in the Lore Channel on the RuneScape Discord with Mod Shrike/Mod Jack/Mod Stu. There is a lot of Lore content being developed most notably the Book that is being released by Mod Jack soon along with Mod Stu stating in an interview with the RS3 Creator named Prideslayer who is a massive lorehound that they specifically designed this upcoming quest with him in mind which he posted a RU-vid Short of him freaking out about it. They have been developing the lore quite heavily and even have to work with OSRS Lore Jmods to make sure everything matches up storyline wise between all the content. This upcoming quest is actually even more hype in regards to the lore because the RIng has Zorgoths name who is the big bad in OSRS Dragon Slayer 2 and in RS3 Lore is the mentor for Kerapac so everyone is so hyped on where the story line is going to go now that the Fort lore line is finally ending. I am not really a PvM'er and I mostly do Clue Scrolls/Skill myself but I think Pre-Invention for Treasure Trails was way worse so anything they add for more new Clue content is a big win always in my book since it was so bad back then. I generally consider any new teleport as new content for clue scrolls and most of the Clue Chaser Discord would agree with me on it. Though we are still hoping those different colored clue scrolls in that one gamejam from months ago is still happening otherwise most of us are still trying to get the logs done. In the past we didn't have Roadmaps and only the last several years they have become a thing. I am expecting a majority of all the stuff to be posted at RuneFest because thats how they use to do it in the past where they hint or showcase a lot of the potential/upcoming content all at RuneFest because thats their actual hardcore fanbase. A majority of those folks are all people who have been playing since the early 2000s and are often Player Moderators from what I've seen even though they play casually nowadays due to life. Either way I hope you enjoy OSRS and if you plan to play RS3 again a lot, you might want to join some different communities since you seem to have some generalizations that misrepresent a lot of the niche rs3 subcommunities. I personally can't comment on all the PvM stuff but Art/Clues/Lore are all my forte since thats the main things I play RS3 for.

You can look up the Wizard Guild Concept Art on the RS3 Subreddit and you'll see a 3D model of one of the things I did for fun. I do have plans to do more but I tend to be a perfectionist not to mention I like the Industry I am currently working in a lot and wouldn't want to switch over to the Gaming Industry since its a lot more volatile.
If u want rs3 to thrive, u gotta stop spreading this negativity and stop saying "dont play rs3, play osrs instead" cos all that happens is players will shift to osrs, which wont make devs and jagex as a company more interested in rs3.. with this mental mindset ur gonna kill this game. If player number will keep dropping, jagex wont change its mind and start investing in dying game..
I agree heavily with this 90% of RuneScape content is people hating on the game moaning about content etc. it’s just pushing people away from the game I can’t remember the last positive post about rs3 I like froggie as he normally uploads informative content, sad to see he is taking this route of content now.
It's okay. It's not better than RS3, but you'll like it for a change of pace. Use the wiki to do quests in order to get the most levels the quickest if you want.
My two cents as a returning player after taking 10+ years off. Well first, why are bonds 100MM+ if there are no players? I feel like there is a lot to do in the game. Player owned farm was new for me until last year. Ports? What the heck are ports? And don’t even get me started on blessed flask. I think the burn out is coming from seasoned vets that have done it all. I’m 113 farm and really enjoy doing runs and breeding animals though I don’t have any of the shiny/good stock mainly due to lack of research. I do feel for the players that are no longer feeling the game because I am currently enjoying it so much.
Bond's are 100m because no one is buying them (with irl cash and selling for gp). Those pieces of content are amazing and should be expanded upon. That's part of where the issue lies that I didn't really talk much about in this vid. It takes them forever (actually they never do this tbh) to expand on good content and they waste a ton of time making content that feels like it doesn't fit.

Great video Froggie! It's mindboggling how they "thought" that players only wanted seasonal content and only that, while OSRS gets both holiday events and outstanding updates. At this point the RS3 dev team is nothing but a skeleton crew, sad to see.
This comment section, to me, explains why RS3 is such a fucking shithole of a game. If this comment section is any indication of what the RS3 player base is like and their standards, I can see why Jagex always takes a massive shit on the RS3 player base. If you think it's okay to get the slightest of updates every now and then or not get any updates at all (yes, there are literally comments here saying it's okay to not get updates) while paying like 13 bucks a month, you're part of the problem. You're the reason why the game will continuously stoop lower and lower. Demand more and demand better of the game you pay more than 100 bucks a year for. This shit wouldn't be acceptable to the Old School player base, Jagex knows this, this why they're living it up over there with new content drops regularly.
We have received more unique MTX updates than actual real updates. They are milking this game until it dies off; after that they are able to put all their eggs in the oldschool basket. Plus it's only dropping because those players are 1. either moving on with life. Or 2. moving to OSRS. This game isn't getting ''new'' player, it hasn't been dolng that for years, everyone on RS3 has pretty much been here for 10+ years.

Everyone doesn't have 20b and lvl 120 in every skill, they literally just released a whole new lvl 120 skill with new quests, storyline, bosses and a new city and a tank/power-gear and weapons, including combat changes. Most people dont play 10h a day, so an update like that is alot, imagine if someone joins the game today, they will be busy for years to come without a single update, so chill dude.
There are many things that are right in this game. From when I started, in terms of content everything that got release were either very high end (ED3) or degrading and purely debilitating. Forinthry sucks tbh and the reward for engaging with this crap is powercreep let's face it. Necro is also completly fucked up, it is an op style with 0 skills unlock and straightforward/minimal gear prog. It's infuriating that osrs does better tbh ^^', dunno what the editor is smoking but it is really good.
For the whole year there is nothing to keep me playing and i haven't been playing in month. Rasial and Necro was fun , Zammy was fun but , what do we have now treasure hunter events, beach event , or cosmetics.... The end of rs3 is getting close.
A lot of people saying that comped players can't complain are missing the point. Plenty of non-maxed players can and have gotten bored of the game because of its lack of updates. Whether or not a player has or has not done everything is irrelevant. For every comped player there's 100 who feel as though they've done everything they wanted to and have stepped back until something exciting comes around. Comped or not, its their job to get those players invested again, and they've done a poor job of it as of late.
I Agree 100% with the fort forinthy shit that took like a year and ended with the worst boss ever.. I don't do much bossing though I enjoy casual slayer mobs and clues but my god its been boring, adding dyes to MTX instead of making it content was the first sign for me that they don't give a shit about content on rs3

Switching from osrs to rs3 got kind of bored of osrs just cause after maxing there isn’t much to do, plus the fact no one ever wants a new skill so it seems done to me in the long run wise. Rs3 though more quest content , weapons. Unless osrs makes max level to 120 I don’t see much more they can do content wise and weapon wise.
Vet here also, comped, closing in on 200m all. I still hold an inkling of hope that the current content drought and lack of communication regarding future updates is that there is something big on the horizon that they plan on officially announcing at Runefest. I'm talking a new engine/Rs4 sized announcement. But who knows, maybe that's naïve thinking and the game really is on its death bed.
New engine for rs3 doesn’t make sense especially considering the recent combat update RS4 shouldn’t stop the updates for RS3 this much especially if they plan to continue it beside rs4 same way osrs is currently Upgrading rs3 to rs4 is a probability but again makes no sense since the new game we know is made in UE5 so combat update to rs3 makes no sense as well The game is simply on maintenance mode for the sake of growing osrs, especially considering how many rs3 devs joined osrs now
What do you mean with "lack of communication"? On 26 march they told us specifically what the upcoming updates for april to june were gonna be, sure it was extremely lacklustre not going to argue about that, but what more communication do you want if they already told us what to expect for the near future? I personally wouldn't expect another "roadmap" before mid-end june, yet they gave us another update only 2 days ago (1 day ago on the day you made this comment) how the hell is that "lack of communication"? Like they can't talk about upcoming content if there isn't going to be any more than what they already talked about. What are they going to say? "Heya folks, in today's update we're going to talk about the next load of nothing you're gonna get"
couldnt agree more, Jagex clearly dont know how to save their own game... its not about sucking the player base's wallets dry, but to keep the game as good as it was. making the players happy will keep them from losing their jobs. but they dont really think about things like that

I feel bad for the development team left, I’m assuming they’re trying their best but are just limited by the resources they’ve been given by management. I guess rs3 has been milked dry and not worth while investing into in the eyes of management. Makes me frightened for the future of rs3.
I agree to an extent. The difference between osrs and rs3 is that rs3 players are still the main money makers, because they buy mtx out the wazoo. But thats also why a lot of the staff left because they didn't sign up to work as mtx creators to sell keys and cosemetics they wanted to make content for people to enjoy .

Heck I love some of those TH promos, yet I never bought keys and never will, I'm just happy with my 6 daily keys and that's that, if I get something, great! If I don't get anything fine so be it. I'll bet someone will try and come argue here that some people don't like it but buy into it because of FOMO, but let's be fair, that's just their own personal problem not a mtx problem. Yes you can point to the MTX numbers from the annual reports, but REMEMBER that INCLUDED OSRS bonds too, and people who buy bonds on RS3 for OSRS. I would be willing to bet given the player counts that its much, much less than people try and project. There just aren't enough players anymore to keep up, and as it dies, there will be less.
Idk why people who think no new content is a good thing in a sense that theirs 20+ years on content for people to explore if your a new player, if anything this is a sign of the worst yet to come. Once the new owners see how they got ripped off because previous owner inflating numbers Mtx is going to go through the roof and at that point osrs isnt going to be safe from it. Also once gowers release Brighter Shores game and if Rs3 doesnt have new content people are going to flood that game since they want something new even thought its a replica of runescape.
We've had content droughts in the past, this one feels different with that line of we're canceling the new event because we don't have the resources to do both. I think we have to vote with our wallets and say that the current game isn't worth subbing to get these venture firms to either fire sell it to someone who will care for it or invest some more cash on development to get us back.

Seeing this late, but I strongly believe it comes down to the following: Those 18k-20k players who are they? They are the same players who've played this game for 10-20 years. Theres no new player base. Most players even have more than 1 account and lets be honest there's a lot with 5+ accounts lol. The OG players are the only ones keeping this game alive, so essentially we've already "played" the game and we know what the game has to offer to the point that we insist on new content because we are so bored or exhausted of the current existing content. But step outside and think of stuff from a new players perspective who has never played the game and if you think about it, RS3 is an awesome game.. it really is. Huge amount of content to be explored but of course, if we already played the existing game for years upon years and then we complete "new content" in 1-2 weeks time every time its released then of course we will be bored/complain about lack of content. That's my honest opinion as someone who started playing Runescape in 2011 and embraced/loved the EOC update in 2012.
I'm curious to see how the new game Broken Shores game that they're working on is gonna be lol... I hope it's as good as I want it to be. Especially since they're not working too hard on RS3. I'm hoping that the reasoning behind that is cuz of them putting more manpower into this new game to make it great!!
I quit both versions of this game. Everytime I decide to play again I have to sell all my gear just for a bond to cover a membership to not be able to use the gear I had to sell in order to use it.

Yeah game has gone downhill. I cant stand jagex sympathsizers who try to deflect for them since jagex keeps repeating their past mistakes and are blantaly lying to us. its some stockholmd syndrome for real like. you got to call them out on the bad pratices. i.e see their last update post and compare it to statements made in the past. they said they were "working" on a new matriach boss back when necro came out that was ~7 months ago and now they are saying they are working on it right now for may since ALL of their development time was spent on season events. so since this is the middle of april. and they said may that means that boss would have only taken 2-4 weeks to make. and its been 7 MONTHS! because they all of the sudden had the bright idea that everyone wants seasonal updates that are you know...temp places u go to afk for the currency and never touch again....im sorry what kinda development team thinks like that? there is no mmo in history except for runescape that dedicates everyone to seasonal content when the whole point of seasonal content is to be a little extra, a bonus for the community.
At least someone gets it (lol jk a ton of ppl do, the mildreds just like to comment). Btw, a look under the hood. They wanted to focus on these seasonal events bc the hero pass failed at linking real game content directly to mtx... buuuuut they can still link mtx directly to the seasonal events.
i cant get behind telling people to stop playing. i understand the frustration, for sure 100%. To say that the game is gonna die if things dont change and then to tell them to stop playing is kinda shooting the community in the foot and hoping that forces a change when in reality youre just hurting the community by saying that.
Even OSRS goes through contetn droughts before they get new content, its to be expected you can keep the the developers making new content with out them expernicng burnout. We tend to forget how well off runescape 3 has been for 2019 to 2022. The best way to see all the content we get is to go and make a new account, which i get the feeling people who are complaining haven't. The game changes incramentaly and you don't notice small changes and how they impact your overall gaming experience an till you go back to the start and play through. I myself didn't see the point of Fort forinthry and till i went and made a new account and played through it, its actually very impactful for skilling and getting rested xp.
My hope is that they are working on something bigger and are keeping it for runefest. Character refresh would be nice. That said if they are working on something big, it would make sense to just say 'we're working on something big, more to come at runefest' or something along those lines
20 year vet here, IMO only people who should be complaining about content is people with comp capes if you dont have that you still have contenet to do and if you are burnt out on the current contenet take a break and come back later.
People definitely can complain pre comp, but the sentiment you're expressing has merit. I have no aspirations to comp, and I never will unless that changes. That being said, even within more niche areas, there's tons to do. If you're a pvmer and you dont have maxed gear and most logs are done, then you're kinda complaining that there isn't something new when you haven't even finished the part you do enjoy. If you're a skiller and you don't have maxed skills, it's a bit odd to complain there isn't a new one. Questers, etc. I'm just saying comp isn't the end all be all for everyone. If a quester has finished all the quests, they can have a valid wish for new stuff and be unhappy with the drought.

@Soapy267 yeah. I pvm, but I am nowhere near being a top end player, and I basically have 0 ranged gear. So even if I mastered my melee, magic, and Necromancy setups and got very good, I have an entire style left to get bis for and to learn and master. Even if I did that, I have prs to chase and logs to finish or even the niche gear for true bis that costs absurd amounts for next to no gain. Even then I've got enrage to push and so on.I've got a long path ahead of me. So I'm not personally concerned with new content. It's nice, it gives more variety, and I understand that perspective, I'm just not personally all that fussed with it. If I had golden reaper and bis everything I'd understand it though.

I would like to say this I believe Jagex has been less focused on older players and more focused on bringing in new players and getting them out of the early game asap xp rates over the years has achieved this but necromancy even more so because it opens the game up to the less skilled players of the game that is my take on the new content
Thats def true... but they essentially went all out on it and left the hardcore players to rot. The problem is there are no new players and hardly any returning players compared to the existing players

Imagine Henry Cavil for example says he started playing Runescape 3. Would be massive and would potentially increase a desire to focus on more content development for both new and old players.
I have seen a few negative comments here, but I honestly think it is cause you mentioned OSRS. There is some resentment there since it is clear RS3 isn't the main game anymore. Doesn't changed the video being true, if they don't like OSRS play any other game, but you have to stop paying for RS3 if you want change
I think the Holiday events needed work, in my opinion the beach event is pretty popular and can afford to go unchanged a while longer. Like others said, you definitely have developers left there who care deeply about the game. They are trying, but like any job with a greedy corporation hanging overhead, imagination and execution suffer to a major degree. I don’t do the whole which version of RuneScape is better, play what works for you. My problem is I grew up playing RuneScape when it was only a few years old. When I hop on old school it’s just to chill out and feel nostalgic, but new content is OSRS doesn’t really do anything for me. It’s cool when RS3 gets versions of your bosses, even if Vorkath isn’t fun or good in ours. 😂 I just hope it works out where the entire player base can get a little of what they want, I hate myself and am going for the super duper ultra max cape so I won’t run out of stuff to do anytime soon.
Some words makes me remember something back in the day when EOC, that stupid wheel with 200m cash opened chest and many stuff that you have in that game came out and it is "i feel bad how developers and bad management are destroying the game" well now your feeling the same think that OSRS players felt in the past. RS3 player should start complain that runescape should always be the way that OSRS is today and numbers are talking OSRS is the top 3 mmorpg played around the world even more than wow retail and FF14. As always runescape OG 07 is breaking records like we did in the past and runescape 3 never gonna beat that legacy.
Wonder how you think this is gonna help the game, if someone wants to get into rs3 and looks it up and finds these negative video's about comp players wanting new content. You could also try something new like other hardcore players do, make an hcim - grind all the stuff again instead of buying all the items when a new skill comes out etc. Work for it and youll see theres plenty of content. Also the ending is so cringe. 😅 >.< doesn't want to see the game die, but does though. LOL, i returned to rs3 after years, and omygod im getting overwhelmed by the stuff i have to do inorder to complete the game. And im sure its really irritating for new players to see the old ones trying to kill this game. Just to get their loud ass voices across. Bish be patient and be appreciative that they're trying to make the game fun for everyone with events etc... God damn im just getting back into this game and lots of my friends are just starting. Literally my nephew's class started it around the same age as me, super excited for them. This game is never gonna die. At some point they're just gonna stop listening to people like you. Which has already happened. EVERY game tries to make money stop whining.😂

I can imagine the Jagex management rubbing their hands together at the time of conception of necromancy. 100000% the idea was to use a new combat skill to make players reengage with old content; it is literally a requirement of leveling up the skill to engage with existing content.
One thing to consider with the player count charts is how quickly the drop off started after the release of necromancy. When archeology released there was a massive spike in population followed by a small drop off and then a very slow bleed back to around 25k average players. Necromancy lost almost all of its gained players within a month. Compound that with hero pass and the drop off just continues. From jagexs perspective what’s the big difference between these two scenarios? Archeology was able to increase population and maintain it. That means greater amount of subscription revenue and a greater amount of people in the mtx ecosystem with a higher chance of them buying into it. From the player count charts, it appears that necromancy was unable to do this. We don’t have a detailed P&L from jagex so we can really only speculate how much it cost and how much revenue it generated but my guess is that it did not meet their expectations. If large updates are unable to generate enough profit, then jagex has no incentive to develop them.
Bro, if you consider Necromancy "small" content, what is large content??? That opened up so much more game play for returning and non endgame players. In bossing, city of Um, Fort Forinthry is huge for skilling and convenience, quests, just pvm in general. So you want them to make content to atract new and returning players, or hardcore end game??? I hear content creators complain either way.... I think most players are just time drained. I think that no matter what RS does, people are going to be unhappy. Players just get bored with new content after a couple of weeks because they spend 6 hours a day playing.... i agree there is room for improvement, but its not as bad as EVERY content creator makes it sound. If it really is that easy, crowd source a new game. Get a few content creators together and start a gofund

The worst part is, I also love osrs and honestly feel like I can’t play either because as long as I’m paying for membership on one, I’m paying for it on both and really the only way to talk is with the wallet.
Updates are a huge problem like you’ve stated , but I also think with all new mmo games , the combat flows , rs is soooo clunky because it’s on a very old engine and tick based. I think this is a major put off for new players , having to guess when to click to move out the way of things is so outdated
One thing to consider when talking about quests, is the sheer amount of time it takes a new player to gain access to relevant rewards. Make an alt and unlock Soulsplit. It’s a massive endeavor, and it feels almost pointless to play without. Afking combat xp, let alone having a decent combat experience, isn’t possible without SS as a new player. Adding in more grandmasters only further hurts their new player count. This could be part of their reasoning?
I think that another big factor of why so many people are leaving is due to the constant influx of negativity from other content creators, and a lot of people tend to take the word of content creators for the absolute truth without thinking 2 seconds for themselves. For example protoxx, just look at his video's, almost every single one of them for over a year has been negative, and sure a lot of them make very valid points, but a bunch of them also don't. Like a while back he was complaining about the lack of a roadmap or news of new content, while we got a roadmap in march for the time between april to june, sure it was rather bland but that's not the point, you can't demand another roadmap, or more news for content, only a month after the last one, when the next roadmap should theoretically be expected somewhere at the end of the last one. That's just plain stupidity, but has resulted in a lot of people getting angry for the lack of news that shouldn't be expected in the first place. I honestly feel like if those big content creators were not so negative about the smallest of things, a lot of people would be a lot less upset, resulting in fewer people quitting, resulting in more budget for development. it's the same with the CONSTANT nagging and crying about MTX, you can't open a RS3 video or social media post without people getting ridiculously mad about mtx. Like who the hell cares? I completely ignore any form of MTX, and it doesn't impact my game in the slightest. It's not like they are forcing me to buy into it, so why should I be mad that It's there? let the people who like it waste their money on it, otherwise just ignore it and there is no problem! Yet people seem to get FURIOUS whenever a new TH promo gets announced. Like for real people, just use your free daily keys and enjoy the free stuff you get (or don't if you hate TH that much), and get on with your regular gameplay.
Best time to play the game in my opinion drops are actually worth doing logs are starting to be worth obtaining. Things arnt so rushed as much and the game can be enjoyed. Srry not srry I love new content as much as the new guy but as someone who doesn't do mtx besides membership I have alot of progression to do because I destroy all stars and lamps. I bet more players go in and rush the drops more then taking the time to appreciate what actually went into making that piece of content. I feel like the devs are getting more compliments on osr that there more less wanting to work there. We are so un appreciative on rs3 for almost all the content they have made in the last 2 years. Tbf a new combat style is huge and I’m actually still riding that high, I’m not even mad. How about a video with content suggestions, would be much more positive and constructive. These videos always lower community sentiment and lead to lower player count
I’ve talked to countless people, creators and even tried to talk to jmods about this. It seems that the community’s view of Jagex is too negative to actually try to work towards something positive.
Comparing Old School to RS3 is like comparing apples to bananas. You’re talking about a 10 year old game versus a 25 year old game. They have tons more room to add and develop. It may be 10 years old but they started with RuneScape at its bare bones in 2007. We didn’t have really anything outside of base game in 2007. What do you expect for a game 25 years old? It’s packed with updates over that span.
Bro as a returning player who has yet to build the fort or max archaeology or necro or maxed at all i find it overwhelming all the things i need to do but i guess i can see someone whos maxed and crazy rich not wanting to play but idk i just wish more ppl played its sad having to do everything solo sometimes

Question. Did we forget how long OSRS players were complaining about about content drought before Varlamore? During this drought they were comparing RS3 getting updates like Elder God Wars 3 and OSRS got basically nothing. My thinking is that they rotate devs at this point
