1942 Plymouth Switcher, 35 ton, built for US Army. Delivered to Hutchinson NAS (Yoder) in 1943. Then went to Pratt Army Airfield. Sometime after WWII the unit was declared surplus, and was sold to KG&E Ripley plant, where it was used to switch tank cars.

That little thing is strong! It's amazing that it can pull a giant 4-8-4!

That thing sounds awesome! Sounds like it's lining up for a shot at the quarter-mile!

Was that blue a standard color? There is a locomotive in my area, the Lehigh Valley rail road (Allentown Bethlehem Easton sections). the Ironton rail trail which runs along the D&L (deleware and Lehigh) have Plymouth switcher seeking funds. From the poster they have it was once owned by the Dragon cement company it was black red and gold. Now it is a a faded blue with a vinyl decal saying Southdown Cement company inc. On the side. I don't know if it runs but i did 2 videos on my channel its not locked or roped off and there is no warning keep out. They left the doors wide open. There's alot of pieces missing. I don't know if it runs. But still exists.

it's called 'character', much better than the constant whine of modern locos.

@@ReadingAreaRailfan absolutely! Over here in the UK, many of us enjoy what is known as 'clag' - thick smoke coming from a loco working hard (or in bad need of a service) and the claggier the better.
