You kind of got the idea and you are right about landing on the ball of your foot. But the extension of you leg in front? That is just bad running/sprinting mechanics
So I've been a sprinter since 6 years old but stopped when I was 12 to start golf. I'm now 17 years old getting back into track because I really like it but I do all these warmups perfectly but for some reason I'm still running heel to toe. I never ran heel to toe until I stopped running. I don't know what to do because I could be running way faster if I would cycle my legs better.
