Super helpful, thank you so much! Taking part in my first 50k Ultra this year and am told the poles will help! Awkward to use at first but am getting there and this was really useful!
Thank for a great demonstration and overview on how to use the poles properly. I may have missed it... Just curious how tall are you and what size poles are you using in this video?
It's interesting how you are not synchronising arm-movement with legmovement. It's not just with running that I keep em synchronized. Also when hiking up I always have the pole push on the opposite side of the feet. So every step is a push with the stick. If I decide to use them less or slower I usually switch to double push but I never do a every other step with the single arm 😮
Yeah maybe not much at that effort/gradient simply because if I am honest it was a bit alien to me as I would never need them myself in that situation. That's why I tried to emphasise what you're saying at the start ...Will be more obvious when I upload some steeper stuff I guess :)
@@GaryHouseCoaching Right yes, That wasn't a steep grade where one would use poles. And yes if I run on the flat easyish then I do a arythmic pole push like you did here :)
Good to see how to use them. I've been hiking for years and never bothered with poles as like having hands free and most people seem to drag their poles.
Thank you, very informative and excellent tips and techniques for pole running. I am doing my first 100km Ultra trail run and these tips will definitely aid me as it will be my first time with poles. Keep up the excellent video ☺️ from South Africa.
Ah brilliant , knowing someone in South Africa is watching is very cool so thanks and glad you found it useful - get out and use them then enjoy your race! 🎉
Hello! What kind of belt are you using here? It looks like it keeps the poles in place when they are attached. And have you tried salomon pulse belt or high puls belt with poles? Thanks
Many thanks for the Poles tips.... I have a Harrier Helvellyn pair (my very first pair) since running up Snowdon I think I was the only one with out a pair - Lots seem to carry Black Diamond.... you can tell I'm a newbie... its all new names 🤣
Those poles seemed to release very easily from the glove. My Leki MFC's need a good 'bump' on the ground while pressing the release. Do the handle need cleaning with a wax polish or something to keep them releasing freely? Also I'm finding the telescopic section gets graunchy if they're used in the wet and then dry out. Have even locked solid once.
