I can't wait for spring. I love watching farmers do there thing. When I was little I lived across from a older farmer and would spend alot of time there just watching and helping him. I loved it when I got to ride with him. He had a old Oliver And a small/ medium John Deere with a front loader.

thanks for showing this. back in the 80's the family missed the husband overnight. the family found the husband into the machine, of course he was dead and the tractor ran out of fuel. not a pretty picture. i can't forget that but time helps. i have found a farmer that was rolled over by a round bale also, not a good outcome. the good old days, miss the calls, now retired.

Impressive, impressive indeed. That monster flywheel is going to eat some hay. And nice job showing off the moving parts. As an engineer and a farmer, I loving see how stuff moves. Keep the gears turning in my mind for projects at work and on the farm. Can't wait to see it in the field.

Hey Wes, people at Krone know what they're doing when they build haying equipment. I did notice something you may have an issue with later on. There's a hose, (grease line), that's moving along with the plunger, it's rubbing. You may want to look at it closer and possibly stay tie it to keep it from rubbing against the plunger arm. Great video as always. Cheers :)

+Andy Kinker Just a question as I'm not a farmer.............. Would there be anything to bale after a freeze and several inches of snow to flatten anything left standing?
@tapertrain1614
@tapertrain1614 8 лет назад
If you search some of his older videos from previous years he bailed some i believe some government ground in the winter time. It was time consuming and working on frozen ground is not fun. Heavy equipment and soft spots in fields don't work too good. We use disc mowers much like on the front of his John Deere, its amazing what they will pick up. We bale hay for cattle and wouldn't do it, but for mulch hay like he does it's ok. You need to search the video where the Pandy's got the tractor and baler stuck in the winter time . It's a classic.

that decal with the umbrella and power washer X'ed out means that it can withstand rain but you shouldn't power wash it because the pressure will penetrate the electrical connections. Same exact decals on my John Deere 100 square baler. (base design was Krone 80-80 baler)

The rollers in the feeder are lubed by the auto lube pump. There are lube fittings that need to be lubed using a needle on those rollers. I'd check those rollers daily and make sure they all have grease getting to them.

+Jan Kotze Jan, What do you think about the quietness of that pickup on Wes's Krone baler HUH?
@jankotze1959
@jankotze1959 8 лет назад
+heyhey1956 It's amazingly quiet, the balance of all these moving parts are real engineering, can you think how would the baler bounce if something is not synchronized balance, for any baler but this one is so HEAVY, it makes it more special
@heyhey1956
@heyhey1956 8 лет назад
Jan Kotze Jan I was just thinking about the plunger noise on our NH 281 even as you idle the tractor back when you got off the tractor it was still rocking the tractor backwards and forward, OK fair enough from memory I'm not 100% sure because it was over 40 years ago but I'm pretty certain the plunger speed was around 80 strokes per minute because it was only a 16"x18" bale from that baler, whereas Wes's Krone is only doing 45 strokes per minute, also the plunger on the left side of the baler! But the quietness and how smooth the operation was on that Krone baler spun me out completely, it just shows the German build quality all the way!

that is one intimidating machine up close for sure am sure the section cut bales will be useful for hay buyers with smaller farms being easier to manage in the barns that should make the hay easier to sell as well unless every hay seller has a krone or another baler that can do the same as this one

Also the thing on top you didnt know about is the main port where all the stress readings of the baler come together and go to the computer. You will see 4 sensors on the sides of the chamber that read baler stress and feed consistency and which way you need to drive to make an even bale.

I do see on the plunger a wire or hose more going to the backside of the plunger and been pulled a bit to far so I am guessing this hose will wear out a bit to quickly watch around the 9min marker that hose going to the splitter and been stretched each push the compactor is pushing the hay together I think it's about 4-5 inches to short. But all in all very cool video about the Baler.

ecu software is serial number specific. a used ecu will cause vin security codes and ultimately not work. only way for more power is chip. chip will cause 8120 pistons to come apart so don't even bother. 84 and 8520s had heavier pistons.

Hello Wes. Hope you are fine after 7 years. I am thinking of buying the new gen big pack for straw and alfalfa hay. I notice that your baler doesnt have a rotor like every baler. Is this an option? I believe for alfalfa that would be great because the rotor damages the leaves and you loose some of them while bailing.

@onelonleyfarmer
@onelonleyfarmer 8 лет назад
A flywheel stores energy kinetic energy so when the plunger hits the hay the power or energy is used to press the hay into the bale chamber without it it would stall the tractor
@cillyede
@cillyede 8 лет назад
Thank you very much, Wes! Take care. Hubert, Germany
@wiedehopf9068
@wiedehopf9068 6 лет назад
it might not even stall the tractor but you really don't want torque spikes on the power takeoff shaft (transfers power from the tractor by spinning). the flywheel makes it run nice and smooth, your car has a flywheel as well so you don't stall the engine when you start driving or when shifting.
@3347861

I think the engine note changing is just something John Deere's do. We've got a 6320 that seems to do it almost constantly when it's cold but I'm yet to hear it do it hot. All the newer ones I've seen do it to some extent tho.
@aaronjackson5694
@aaronjackson5694 8 лет назад

@JohnDeerefan-fo1qp

+fjkingswood We had the same our 8420 or 9630, can't remember which, but thought something not so good, both are gone now. Would really like to know what caused it if someone with knowledge about it would reply.

+John Deere 6830 fan , to clearify myself, all our JD tractors startup at high idle, 960rpm then back to 900rpm after couple mins, but the sound in engine after say 20-30mins seems different, like the engine is having some kind of minor load put on it. That's what I am curious to know about.
@fjkingswood
@fjkingswood 8 лет назад
+John Deere 6830 fan the noise is nothing to do with the high idle. It's a change in engine note while it's running. Our 6320 doesn't do it hot but I have heard others do it, I've wondered before now if it's not a fuel quality thing. Seems to happen more in out tractor if the fuel is from summer.
