RUROC ATLAS 4.0 CARBON (Carbon Fiber) + SHOCKWAVE Bluetooth Initial Review 

I appreciate your review. I just bought the Ruroc Carbon Nebula. I am taking notes from your videos, Ben's (Bikes, Beards, and Brews), and others to do my review on the helmet. Regardless of positive or negative, you provided a thorough review.

As soon as you said there is no need to do unboxing on social media these days, I subscribed. Good video and good job getting straight to the purpose of the video. Well done.

Appreciate the review, was debating on this helmet but was struggling to find any reviews which went into details. All the things you mentioned have helped me stay with Shoei and to buy a Cardo bluetooth system.

The comments on the video are eye opening I’ll have to admit my interest in this helmet is 80% based on appearance. I’m 4min into the video and your review on sizing and Custy service has made my decision. I’ll be buying my next skid lid in person

i have a sena outrush R and it is noisy what is the best helment with noise cancelation ? it is so noisy that i cant talk with the bluetooth

Good review man I had a quick question did you notice the ML helmet shell being significantly larger than the SM? I’m exchanging mine for the ML at the moment but I don’t want to look more like a bobble head than I already do with the SM lol

Thanks for the love man! The nose thing is a bit odd, it honestly only touches mine if I lean it way down but overall it's roomier than my HJC i90 was. Sorry to hear about the crap service, hopefully they see this and reach out. I knew the Shockwave issues without ever ordering it but you confirmed it haha, but hey, you can use my Cardo discount code for a sweet comm! It's weird the top vent isn't working for you, I just rode to Maryland and had to close it because I could feel the air coming in over my eyes and messing with my contacts. Between the chin curtain and the nose guard I'm starting to question your Quasimodo head, that thing rests right below my chin to the point where it leave a crimp in my beard.

I really wonder if they just get really slack on QA after release windows. I've seen a few people having the problems with rough edges, black strip coming off the bottom, check pad and liner problems. It's like they lose sight of quality after the first batches of helmets go out. I have a lot of room from my nose to the helmet and not much air getting in from the skirt. My vents work too. I wonder if the shell size difference is causing some of that maybe? I also came from an Arai, and still ride in it from time to time. Also had a few of those early HJC helmets when they were bargain bin, so your opinions hit home by comparison. It sucks you had that bad of an experience with them on customer service and quality also. I didn't have near that much run around with questions and even helped a viewer get in contact with them to sort out an issue. It's always good to hear more peoples experiences, because they aren't all smooth. Great video, and thanks for sharing man! Ride safe ✌

What size did you measure your head mine is 54cm and the xs was to small in the process of sending it back now for a small instead. Set up the returns on their website got the returns label back same day so sending it back today.

can the shockwave pair to an external controller? Also maybe the blue visor with the Protectint Pinlock would be ideal!

I bought one a while back it’s a awesome helmet a lot of people stop me and say nice helmet , I agree the trim is not glued on correctly I had to superglue all the trim and it sticks like a charm . Does I do like the magnetic secure saftey strap. I didn’t order the shockwave

My 3.0 was a little disappointing, but I will acknowledge, at the time they were producing, them that whole pandemic thing might have had an impact on their suppliers ability to produce the original liner. That was my, and most everyone else’s, biggest issue. It seems like they’ve fixed that with the 4.0. Seeing everything about the 4.0 from sources that I also trust, I am planning to pull the trigger on a 4.0 tomorrow. It seems leaps and bounds ahead of the 3.0. Already have my cart loaded, just waiting for that end of season sale to start at 11:00AM lol. I did a review on my 3.0. I plan to do a review of the 4.0 after about 1-2 months of owning it. As an Arai wearer, I also am giving one a go. Thankyou for a the intro to it.....and the issues with their returns......im hoping that won't happen for me, but we will see. Just a question what size arai did you wear ? As im a small in arai and I've gone with a small or SM in ruroc

Thanks for the informative review, I was very close to pulling the trigger on the 4.0 since it comes with the comms/visor deal, but no styling is worth this level of headache. My head also measures just a bit over 22", and the site says I would also be a small, like you I have never been a small in any other helmet. For the price it sounds like you're better off sticking to Shoei or Arai.

I’ve had the same problem with the sizing but they were great to deal with had it sent back the next day and a month later I had received the new helmet

Thank you for this video. I feel like a lot of people ‘changed’ their mind on Ruroc and they were all paid promotions. Appreciate the honesty. $500 is a lot of money for a crap helmet and customer service.

I went up a size upon looking at reviews. My new RUROC fits perfect. So far, I'm having a perfect experience including fast shipping. They may be listening to criticism and I urge others to look at new reviews. I hope to have my helmet charged here shortly. I received this today. There are deficiencies in instructions, but online videos from RUROC have answered all my questions. I am loving the look and quality of my new RUROC helmet. (so far)

I have an Atlas 3.0. I ride a 2016 RGS. I have not had the wind issues you have but then again I have a full fairing. I bought mine for the weight savings.

I have the shockwave aswell with the atlas 4.0 only the sound is not that good. Did you put the jack plugs totally in the fitting? Mine were in my opinion not able to get in the fitting totally. When i put on music. The sounds is quite noisy as if the speakers are blown up already!

Video is spot on I had same problem I spent 900 and customer service jerked me around for a month then helmet was stuck in customs for two weeks I returned it because had to buy helmet for trip! Had to pay customs and 100 to ship back they did nothing and they won’t talk to you only by email! They suck Great video all true about helmet!

I’m sorry you had a bad experience with yours. I have had the exact opposite experience. From shipping to fit/finish. I even feel the air when the top vent is open! I hope you find what works for you! Thanks for the honest review!

You had a really different experience compare to mine. By the time i got the helmet i tried it and it was way too tight for me. Went to the website right away and go to the return page easy fill out form. Got the confirmation return label so quick and sent the helmet back right away. Took 3 days for them to receive it. The next day they shipped the new helmet and sent me an email all about the shipping info. Got the helmet 3 days after. Im located in Canada if thats make a bit of a difference on shipping time etc. but man that was really not a good time what happens to you.

On Oct 2 .. I ordered the Atlas 4.0 Serpent in M/L based on their sizing chart. I received it about 5 days later since I ordered on a Sunday. Once I received it I couldn't get it on. Sent it back to exchange for the L/XL (They provided the label & they received the original last Mon Oct 17th) Today is Oct 28 I my replacement has yet to ship! Yesterday they released the "Riding essentials bundle" Which is the helmet, additional visor, shockwave, helmet bag, & pinlock for the price of the helmet. Since they hadn't shipped my helmet as of today I asked if they would throw in the bundle. No response yet ..... I'll update when I know more. My advice is whatever size their chart tells you to order go up 1 size!!

I just bought one recently. I bought a L/XL size. It ended up being a tad too big. I reached out and got a email pretty quick and they recommended I could either return the helmet or just buy the different liner and cheek pads becuase I guess the shell size from there M/L - XL-XXL are all the same. So I ended up just buying the M/L cheek pads and headliner. They came in a timely manner and I’m actually pretty happy with the helmet

Thanks for the cheek pad info… I emailed Ruroc, asking for thinner cheek pads because it was way too tight on my face. Never got a response. Lol

Got a couple helmets n ruroc one is my favorite. I have a 2.0 the liner sometimes unclips when I put it over my head but besides that I love the helmet. The sound wave system is also way better than my Sena30k

I got one a month ago. After 1k miles wearing it I’d say for me it’s a 10/10 for comfort. But I have a smaller head wearing a M/L. I don’t hear too much wind except for certain windy windy days. I do agree 1,000% with the buttons. Makes no sense to me why they don’t place it on the side. Good review tho highly respect your opinions on the lid 🤙

I received my SM Atlas 4.0 today, and I did think I wasn't going to be able to put it on, getting it on is a bit of a squeeze but it was a perfect fit when on, It's my first helmet... I hope I didn't make a mistake :(

I’ve always owned Shoei and has saved my nugget twice already but wanted to try something new, now not so sure. Yea. I got the Atlas Carbon 4.0. It's giant and heavy when compared to my Arai. I measured the crown and it's like 2.75" - 3" larger. I do like the SHockWave and Captain America graphics. But...I'm sending it back.

Hey. I’m having the exact same issue as you with sizing. My head size is basically the same as yours. So based off the sizing chart, like you I ordered the sm. I could barley get it on. When taking it off I pretty much had to pry it off and felt like I was going to rip my head off. I just sent it back today to exchange for the ml. Does the ml fit you better? Also I’m really hoping I don’t have issues with getting the new size delivered.

Ruroc are way too expensive for what they are, my best recommendation... Is when you are shopping for a helmet and are looking at some high end high price helmets look through some of the big distributors and wait for a holiday, or long weekend... They usually have sales anywhere from 15%-30% off I see alot of people not speaking too highly of Simpson, but I have the gen 2 outlaw bandit and yes, I wear earplugs when I ride with it I do not have a need for fancy speaker systems when I ride, I do like the airflow the helmet has and find it very comfortable... And best of all I waited till one of the big distributors had a long weekend sale and bought it for 20% off...

Can u maybe help me explain hoe to remove a layer from the cheekpads? I have also s ruroc. I love it. But after s while (about 1 hour) due to excitement i get cramps in my cheeks. I want to try if its the helmet thats tight or its just me being a dipshit haha. If u could help me with that that would be amazing. Great video btw!!!!❤❤

I dont get the hate bro i orderd the atlas carbon 4.0 and it areived in less than a week an im Australia. The nose piece is absolutely fine, it doesnt touch my nose at all. Its comfy and has sufficient airflow which is what you want. I was sceptical at first but after using the helmet i can't fault it so they are not horrible as you trying to make it out to be. Also the customer service is great i have constant communication with ruroc before and after my purchase so. Anyone who is thinking of buying the helemt should not hesitate

Wow I was actually going to buy an Atlas 4.0 in blue. Not after this review. No f*cking way! This company won't be around long with shitty customer service and products like this. I'll stick with Shoei, Arai, and Scorpion, etc.

lol yeah... I haven't bought not one version of this helmet. And as a Shoei RF and Arai rider I couldn't see myself going though this amount of a headache for a subpar helmet not to mention the price point. You want the best? Shoei & Arai ladies and gentlemen.

Just picked up the Altas 4.0 myself... My head is 61cm (give or take 1cm) so I ordered the L/XL accordingly and it's good... Putting it on first time I didn't think it would go on... 2hrs of use and the pads have crushed right down and it moulds my face nicely... Seems like there's more give to go too so maybe a month till it properly settles?...

Bro if that thing touched the tip of my nose I would fuggin freak out. 🤣

Everything you have said is about right for Ruroc's sleazeball marketing. Ruroc's common theme is they care more about marketing than they do their customers. If they had known you had planned to make a video on it you would have received a different product.

100 dollar helmet quality

Do yourself a favor, spend the extra 100-200 on a Arai or Shoei....even a Bell. These are like the generic version of a helmet. I have seen all the versions and NOT 1 seem like it was anything close to the quality of an Arai/Shoei/Bell. I would never put one of these on my head when you can get a Bell thats cheaper and MUCH better made. The people that are saying its good are shilling for the company or overlooking the obvious for their relationship with Ruroc.

Not every helmet fits every head. If you're nose is touching the front of the helmet you should have returned it and gotten your money back. Sometimes it pays to stick with what works. Unless you're really just doing this for RU-vid money then so be it.

Most overpriced helmet ever

The customer service experience I had with ruroc was awful. I ordered based off their sizing chart for my second helmet and first 4.0. I was getting a great Black Friday deal with their bundle. Ordered it 11/10/22 According to their website my size was an xxs okay cool no big deal I’ll get that size right? Well when I received it the top of the liner arrived broken (it wouldn’t clip in) and the helmet was incredibly small. I trusted the site and I couldn’t even get it over my head. The 3.0 I have was an xs . So I asked for an exchange. It’s now 11/21/22 (mind you they received it according to fedex almost 5 days earlier). Then they claimed they had received it. Okay no problem it should be smooth sailing now right? You just box up the xs and send me that. But that’s not what happened it’s now 12/9/22 and they emailed me saying they no longer have that size available. I check their website. And guess what. Under their latest product tab they had my helmet in the size I wanted! I emailed back a few hours later but still on the 9th sending them the link to their own website saying they had it right there. A WEEK LATER after I’ve sent them several emails they finally responded saying well it’s sold out now. We recommend a refund. Mind you no one told me how much would be refunded to me. I was thinking what I paid right? But no they made some price up saying that the discount I got means the helmet actually costed me xyz. Now I’m pissed the exchange department dropped the ball claiming they didn’t have my helmet when they did until finally they didn’t have it, the refund department told me to just refund it without warning me what I was actually getting back. And I’m still out a helmet that I wanted. I’m asking for anything at this point, a store credit towards a 4.0 helmet that would accurately reflect what I’ve paid, or something along those lines. A lot of back and forth and guess what they have in stock now, the helmet I wanted in the size that I wanted. So i message them asking them to please respond quickly so I can make a decision and proceed. I waited 3 hours and decided nope I’m just going to buy the helmet. They only got back to me yesterday and I received the helmet I reordered today. Because of how much I received back from my purchase this helmet costed me about $90 more than had they proceeded the exchange correctly.

RIP 🪦 phone …. There’s a lot of reviews that say a lot Of what you did … especially the customer service side … good vid .. a lot of good info … For 500 plus bucks .. buy the basic shoei and you will be happy …
