I've now had the Ruroc Atlas 4 for a few months and rode it for thousands of miles. Let's talk about the Ruroc now that I've really had time to lve with the Atlas 4.0. The good and the bad, let's do it! #Ruroc #RurocAtlas4 #RurocReview
I love my 4.0 too. Excellent delivery. Excellent fit straight out the box. The best fitting after trying many other top brands. Used the online sizing guide. I find it very comfortable also. Never any pain or discomfort after hours of use. Love the air flow when needed through the vents. Looks great. Love the fidlock. So easy. Just super comfortable. Well pleased with mine after 6 months ownership. Had a slight issue with my Shockwave system. Sent me a new one no questions asked. Did not want the old one back. No issues with after sales for me.
I love my helmet as well but to be honest I am a little disheartened because a couple of my friends have purchased Ruroc helmets and they've had some issues and when they're reached out to customer service they were treated pretty damn poorly. So I'm still keeping an eye on this but man I hate seeing that
Yo Ruroc ... I'm definitely looking forward to getting my helmet back in the correct size. (It's my fault I ordered the wrong size) However I got a serious question for you .... I know you offer the ProtecTint Pinlock. HOWEVER ... can we PLEASE get a photochromic visor option? I'd much rather just have 1 visor I can wear for an all day/night ride situation. Carrying multiple visors when you know you will be transition riding day to night is a PITA!
Just scored a 3.0 with a shockwave. It’s gonna be my test before getting the new 4.0 with HK shockwave. Guy bought it and wore it once. Thanks for the honest review
This version is certainly a big jump over the previous ones! Living in a helmet for 1000 miles will definitely tell you all you need to know!! Good review Ben!!
I subscribe to FortNight as well. He has some great videos. Thank you for the honest review. I decided to order this one, I got the shockwave for it. Thank you again. You saved me from making a big mistake with the Quin!
Great review! I have the 4.0 commander, wore it out of the box on a ride to key west and back, 3200 miles, helmet was great. Perfect fit. I did have a slight "hotspot" in the very back of my head that did alleviate some over time, but I blame that on my noggin. Had no issues in the rain. Also have the shockwave. Music is clear, easy to operate. The controls were hard to use, however, I ran it thru my phone. The only real issue I have with that is the comms. They kept dropping with loss of signal, that and because it is basically an extended phone call there is a 2-3 delay. So if somthing needs dealt with from another rider weather it be traffic or possibly a quick turn..you've missed it.
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah I like the concept of the chain app but it's only as good as your service so I prefer just straight up comms. Thanks for watching!
Nice video. Seems they really got things dialed in on the 4.0. Everyone who reviews them seems to like them . I'd like to pick one up one day to paint.
Dude great review. You should get kick back from them because I am going to buy one of these due to your review. I too have had HJC for a while same helmet as you. My second 90. I have tried a few other types and can’t shake the wind noise. I am hoping I get a similar experience as you. Thanks man. I too am a Granite Stater hope to run into somewhere.
Nice video Ben. I concur with everything you said. I still really like my 4.0 also, I do swap between it and my Arai if I'm not recording video but I've spent a few hours at a time in the 4.0 and a trip to mexico here and there. 80mph + does give me a little bobble and some buffeting, but so does my Arai, so no faults there. Truely a good version this time around. I'll be curious what they choose to change up for the eventual 5.0, maybe that ambidextrous visor opening 🤞 Ride safe ✌
@@BikesBeardsAndBrews the stories definitely make you pause. I guess as long as you don’t have to deal with customer service, you’re good. Helmet seems solid though .
Great, in depth review! Probably the best one I’ve watched so far. Sizing has been a concern for me M/L, so I haven’t pulled the trigger to purchase it. However, now knowing about the removable cheek pads, I am going to finally going to order one. Shockwave Bluetooth.. Any thoughts?
Thanks man! As for the shockwave, I have not tried it, though a great idea the way it's set up, I don't think it would work well for how I use it. I love my cardo edge
I just got the M/L based on their sizing chart and I am a size 7(cap size). To me it's kinda snug. I'm not sure to return it to try out the bigger size or just maybe try to break it in.
Hey, So you said your head just straight up fit.... So did you measure your head and then choose the "correct size" from the measurement of your head or did you choose the next size up?
I normally wear a 2XL so I ordered the largest helmet and went for it. The cheek pads have a layer you can remove to make room and I fully expected to do so but instead the helmet slipped right on!
Did your helmet have black marking around it? I received this color helmet Sept 30, sent it back for exchange and received the new one today, once again with black markings on it. I don't know if it's the packaging (which I doubt it), the helmet bag, or just back quality control. I'm very disappointed as I had to wait almost 30 days for an exchange and trying to get a full face to ride more in the winter.
I ordered this helmet the first week of May. Took 5 days to get. Sent back next day. Too small. It's July and I have sent emails and they haven't even processed my return for exchange. Still waiting. Just get something g somewhere else that you can try on. Wish I would have just gotten another shoei
Hi there, did you remove the extra layer of padding inside the helmet to loosen it up? That really has worked for anyone who said to me it was too small. Either way, sorry to hear you ran into issues with it, hopefully this gets squared away soon and you're back in a helmet you want
So I went thru the same issue… I order and 2 days later it was deliver to my door step. Sizing, I went with RUROC sizing chart… I couldn’t even get it pass my forehead lol I email them and send them a video so they could see how small the helmet was. They took like 3 days got reply, by that time I was already thinking of just returned instead of exchange. Their reply was to recommend sizing up 2 sizes up which is crazy but because they thought that the next size up will not fit either. At this point I think is just better to somehow find a used one on OfferUp or something try it on and dont place an order until I’m sure of the size.
On Oct 2 .. I ordered the Atlas 4.0 Serpent in M/L based on their sizing chart. I received it about 5 days later since I ordered on a Sunday. Once I received it I couldn't get it on. Sent it back to exchange for the L/XL (They provided the label & they received the original last Mon Oct 17th) Today is Oct 28 I my replacement has yet to ship! Yesterday they released the "Riding essentials bundle" Which is the helmet, additional visor, shockwave, helmet bag, & pinlock for the price of the helmet. Since they hadn't shipped my helmet as of today I asked if they would throw in the bundle. No response yet ..... I'll update when I know more. My advice is whatever size their chart tells you to order go up 1 size!!
@@jessa.3857 if your on the low end you should be good with the recommended size. I was literally at the number where the size switched which is why I had to go up a size.
Thanks for the review! You say your helmet fit like a glove! When you measure your forehead as the website requests, what centimeter length did you get?
Honestly I feel like I measured my head incorrectly because the way I did it it said the helmet shouldn't fit me at all. I used the same sizing that I use when I bought my HJC helmet and it just worked out thankfully. Of course at the same time I have a huge ass head so I just buy the biggest helmet and pray
@@BikesBeardsAndBrews I hope I bought the right size. Following the size guide I was smaller than my typical size. I got 56 cm so I went with the small. If I may ask, what number did you get when you measured? Or what size did it recommend you get by that number?
@@sahkonjii honestly I don't remember my measurement I just recall it was above the largest they recommended. I'd say just to remember not to ride with it until you're sure it fits in case it's too small, then you can exchange it, and if it only feels a little tight don't forget there are two layers of padding in the cheek pads and you can remove one layer to loosen it up
Anyone have any suggestions on sizing? I measured my head a few times in inches and centimeters and it comes out near the end of the ML sizing. Specifically 23 and 1/8 inch and 58.8cm. Should I go with the ML or go to the L/XL? Any opinions would be appreciated.
Honestly I still dig it and my opinions of it remain the same from this video. I probably won't do another review because the 5.0 is right around the corner
Sam's issue here. Received my helmet and absolutely would even come even close to fitting. Was very dissatisfied with their customer service. I have an Atlas 3 and love it but not happy when I ordered the 4. Sent it back and have not re ordered
That sucks man and sorry to hear it. Honestly I've never had to deal with the customer service so I got lucky but I've been hearing a lot of horrible customer support stories. Check out ridin dad, he has a few reviews on his helmet and they are the opposite of mine
Its still only a DOT Helmet . DOT is a self certification and so is the ECE. Fox in the Henhouse kind of thing, but only my opinion. Also you cant use them for any Competition in the US. Just my opinion.
@Black Belt Bagger I have educated myself and I am a Racer ! Also ECE is a European Standard and not for the US ! Educate yourself ! I just love these types of comments when they are 1/2 educated and call you a Hater because you have a different Opinion. Also there are plenty of Helmets under that price range that are 2020 SNELL certified. The Drop Down visor doesnt eliminate shit, it wont pass SNELL Testing.
The dot part is true though with that being said Ruroc does use independent testing facilities and lists all the data for review. They are quite open with it
@@BikesBeardsAndBrews They werent initially, but got beat up about it and now they are very transparent. It is a Good looking helmet, especially on a Sexy guy like you LOL
I have 12 pairs of glasses of varying sizes and shapes but mostly Oakley and Ray Ban (don't ask) most fit well though I do find a few hover over the bridge of my nose depending on how my helmet is sitting. For glasses HJC does remain my favorite currently
@@BikesBeardsAndBrews definitely I respect everyone's take, and I appreciate your honesty and effort on doing for us. If anything I'm disappointed that they're done perfecting their product, because I actually like the style of the helmet and would love to rock it, but I can't downgrade and sacrifice all the functionality I already have on a proven brand.
for me there is no comparison in design aesthetics, the Ruroc is just alot cooler and modern looking BUT Shoei is tried and tested. Having owned in past I have been wearing a carbon Scorpion EXO-ST1400, it has been very good
To be honest, these helmets look great. In my opinion the best looking helmet in the game. But……. There are so many flaws with these things and the costumer service is really bad. Also it feels cheap!
Check out ridin dad. I'm pretty sure he's going to do a review on customer service pretty soon and honestly I am very let down with what's he's been through.
