So this past weekend (February 5th, 2022) @Ruroc unveiled their Atlas 4.0 to the US market. For those of you who don't know, I was not a fan of the 3.0 and shared my thoughts openly on this channel about that. Since then, I have had many candid conversations with Dan Rees about their product (certainly not all positive). So I was VERY shocked when they invited me to attend the unveil of their new 4.0 and I had to make a video just talking through that process. Stay tuned for a much more in depth video coming soon confirming my initial thoughts on this helmet.

How does this compare to the shoei? not even close in fit and finish, and big deal, they passed ece 22.05 when shoei passed 22.06, also 22.05 is easily chetable because they test fixed spots on the helmet so manufacturers can reinforce them to pass. So calling this overhyped and overbranded junk a contender is a disgrace to all the real manufacturers actualy caring abou safety like Arai, not budging from their philosphy to make the safest products, and for what? fake vents creating noise, uncomfortable liners, cheap visors, that helmet isnt worth more than 250-300$ at tops and they market it at 500 and above, only suckers pay for their own rurocs, rest are just sellouts gaining free money from sponsorships, and thats a god honest review, anyone caring for their health beeing would not put that on their head.

@@iNFiN3 well your entire comment is predicated on the 4.0 being ece 22.05 but it is ece 22.06. It also has functional vents, it’s super quiet, and an incredibly plush liner. I am all for fair critique but to judge a helmet based on your own fabricated specifications seems like a strange way to approach forming and sharing opinions.

Who gives a sh$@ how nice it is if they continue to have a bunch of incompetent folks running the distribution. Countless examples of products taking months and not even showing up. There’s a reason why these jackles don’t have a phone number and why at the mercy of a bunch of emails that go unanswered.

One of the issues with the previous versions of this helmet was that it seemed media folks were getting a "demo" version of the helmet, while actual paying customers were getting much lower quality versions of the same helmet. You can see the cheek pads were totally different in some of the old review videos where the helmet was supplied directly from Ruroc for free for review purposes. We will have to wait and see if Ruroc is still doing this. I hope they are finally supplying a high quality product to match it's looks.

They do apparantly do this...i bought a Raptor jacket from Enginehawk (their other gear brand) and notoced some subtle differences right away...zipper was diff, inside "chain" hanger was smaller and cheap looking...Dont get me wrong i am really happy with the jacket its really good for what it is...but it seems they hype u up prior to release with their vids of displaying the prototype (which they dont tell you it is, they go over everything as if it ends up on the final prod item...doing this deliberate? Cant say but it does incite hype vs what you finally get. I wish they would be more honest as rigjt now i would never ever buy a helmet from them dont care what test certs they got somehow, ill stick with proven brands 110% for my head

The free helmet that Ruroc gives out to RU-vidrs like you are always in top quality unlike the regular costumer, this is known to happened before in the 3.0. Would love to see you and other content creators get a hold of a Ruroc 4.0 bought by a regular dude and have it tested.

Very interested in the review after the XL arrives. As I am so keen for this new 4.0 having ridden in the 2.0 for a while now and I love it even with its shortcomings. My XL would be perfect with thicker pads so I will be tuning in for sure 👍🏻🇦🇺

If the 4.0 is leaps and bounds better, Good for Rurok for listening to their customers and critics. I purchased the RF-1400 before your 3.0 video and I am so glad I did. If Rurok keeps improving, maybe when I need my next helmet, they will be a consideration.

Good on you for being transparent about your thoughts and internal conflicts. It's important for people to realize that its OK to change your mind when new evidence is presented in front of you. Just because you didn't like the 3.0 doesn't mean you can never like anything Ruroc puts out. It means you evaluate your thoughts case by case which is a very intelligent and sensical thing to do.

Awesome seeing you do an early preview on the 4.0 after chopping the 3.0. I was on the fence about ordering one to do an independent review, but I'm leaning toward ordering one after this. Those cheek pads were definitely cause for a lot of my distaste in the past. Seeing your reaction to the new helmet gives me hope that they are finally getting close to a product to match the price. I feel like Ruroc is only good on the internet. I'll wait until a reviewer pays for one, without the company knowing it'll be reviewed, and tests it independently before I believe improvements have been made.

I’m a bit late to the party here but I’m really glad to hear your thoughts and feedback on this helmet! I’m getting a bike soon and have been trying to research solid gear that isn’t garbage/overhyped and finding solid info about the 4.0 has been super hard. So thanks for making this ! It’s really helpful in making a decision on a helmet specifically

Glad to hear that they've listened and modified it accordingly. My other problem with that helmet though is that the integrated Bluetooth system controls are behind the helmet, instead of on the side. I'm unfamiliar with the connectivity of it and how it compared to other helmets within a group say to the systems like Sena or Cardo.

Can't wait to see how this is. I had a 2.0 and hated it. From the Facebook group I could tell this was a novelty company that duped a shit load of people to belive their helmets are premium price and quality. I do belive they can make a good helmet but they need to stop with the paid reviews and blocking people that criticize anything they say against it. Seeing they I invited you maybe their actually learning

@@ndocds you havent met, but you can tell who they are on YT based on the vid they make, all the Ruroc swag they wear, etc...then they still leave the vids up when plenty of people get their hands on the helmets and then state how they really are...it isnt hard to spot those people

@@Mike_Jones68 Mike, you gotta understand that all our creditability is based on our ability to market and promote products. a 600 dollar helmet isn't worth that creditability dude, it's just not. the amount paid out through views is nothing compared to a good partnership, with say, Quadlock. They are massive for my TikTok channel and I wouldn't jeopardize my ability to market that for a helmet. I genuine think the 4.0 is a great helmet. I think people who buy one based on my recommendation won't be disappointed. I am not a brand ambassador for Ruroc, I am literally putting my reputation on the line when I say that.

Oh yeah, and the sound in this helmet is seriously great and blew me away compared to the crappy Bell I was using and compared to all the complaints that the 3.0 had regarding how noisy it was.

I recently got my first bike, but I've grown up racing and owning many helmets for my cars. I picked up a Sena Outrush for my bike and wasn't really impressed with the sizing. It was just too tight and I am typically a large. At least it seem like the sizing makes sense and semi adjustable with different padding. Does it come with a tinted visor?

Seemed like a genuine review. Your last video was the reason I cancelled my order on the 3.0 and went with the rf1400. You didn’t steer me wrong. The rf1400 is an amazing helmet. But I’m glad to see the 4.0 has made some serious improvements. And I just may consider one for my next helmet purchase now. 👍

I have Klim top of line adventure helmet, light but on louder side, my wife has Shoei Hornet, a bit heavier but I guess on of the most quieter lids on the market, but if you saying Ruroc 4.0 is even better for not letting sound in I would predict they gonna get very successful with this model,,,,,, love honest videos, cheers V!

After measuring my head I'm at the top end of medium large for their helmet size size. I just don't want to go to the next step up because I've have problems getting a helmet that fits right when I put it on but gets really loose once it breaks in. I'm at 23.5" so I'm right at the top of.... do you think I should get that size or go a step up since the helmet I ordered hasn't been dispatched yet I might still be able to change it.

Honestly, if this helmet turns out as good as you think it will, I won’t be surprised. The CEO seems like a pretty determined dude and the absolute fail and callouts that they received on the 3.0 may have been the best thing to happen to them. Happy to hear, at this point, that you think this is a 180* turn from the product they put out last year.

something a lot of people don’t know, ruroc sent out the replacement cheekpads for free for a lot of customers on the 3.0 ne included. changed the game entirely. i enjoyed the helmet even before the new padding. but the noise was still a huge issue. i def don’t want to switch brands but the noise was killing i’m hoping more reviews come out saying the 4 is worth it

Hey man. How dark is the dark tinted visor? I have a 2.0 from right before they made changes to it. So I have a really dark one, which I fucking love. But the new ones looks so.. smokey. Like its dark, but you can still see through it from the outside. How dark is the one you have on your blue 4.0?

Question for you sir. It's been 4 months now since u posted the video. I think that's what it said anyway. Did u ever get the xl? If so did it fit properly and still preform like the former? If not what were ur findings? And finally did rurok win u over? Has it replaced the shoei? I'm an hjc guy my self. Have a couple RPHA Pro 11s. Hjc like rurok are intermediate oval helmets so I imagine they'll fit something similarly to each other. Started with a 2x cuz it felt better then 1x but after a couple months was to loose. Went down to the 1x and for the first month or so I couldn't wear it for more than a couple hours but once it broke in it fit snug. Did u ever try to wear the first one and break it in see if it fit ok that way? TIA for the time and info. I came across the DC helmets and really want the joker one. Looking for info on the quality and with the exception of a few haters in ur comments I haven't found anything bad said about rurok. Any way thanks again. Patrick

You should have the XL by now (by your estimate). Curious to see a complete review of that. Never had pressure points on any of my helmets before. I wonder if variances in head shape is the culprit.

I appreciate your honest and thoughtful review. And being able to change your stance based on things changing, is VERY important. That being said, the few things keeping me from getting REALLY excited about this 4.0 is the controversy regarding the ece rating. Also, the fact that you can't close the vents without plugs. I'd like to be able to open/close vents easily/manually on the fly, without having to take the helmet off. I'm currently shopping for a new helmet to replace my scorpion, but I still don't thing this Ruroc 4.0 :-/

The 4.0 has open/close on front upper vent now, thought the front lower always had a switch to open/close.

@Gears & Gadgets hey, good video. You mentioned the M/L you got was starting to hurt while riding within about 2 hours on the road. Correct me if um wrong, but i think I saw a youtube video talking about the cheek pads on the 4.0 are either removable or changeable now, I think on each cheek pads and possibly the neck one has a zipper on it so you can change or remove the padding to make it fit your head. Could you maybe confirm if you see those zipper and can remove some padding on your current M/L 4.0 you have? Much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

The only thing i'm bummed about is the fact that their blu tooth doesn't support voice commands. I use those on my cardo bold all the time.

I am so glad I didn’t order the 3.0 after watching your videos. I just received my 4.0 I had a Shark and an Alien Bandit 2 before. The Ruroc somehow feels better on the head than the Shark and the Bandit 2 before. The Bandit also was heavy compared to the Atlas. For the first impression it feels more comfortable. And: I am nat a fanboy of anything :)

How's shoulder checking? I had a Icon Airflite helmet and I was unable to perform a shoulder check without hitting my shoulder with the chin of the helmet. I had to switch my helmet to an X-lite 903 and I had zero problems performing a shoulder check. I'm super interested in the 4.0 just worried about the shoulder checks.

I didn't notice any issues with head checking in my 6-7 hours of riding between the L and the XL that they sent me because the L was too small.

What size is your 1400? My 1400 is a size L and fits perfect and according the Rurco I fit between the M/L on their helmet so I ordered the M/L.

I paid full whack for one....no regrets so far! I have the 2.0. Visors could be slightly easier to change, is it hard to get enough grip on the fasteners, which are quite tight

I got version 1&2 but held off for version 3 and holding out for the reviews of version 4. In the uk I don't use the ruroc during autumn winter, just to noisy and air flow is fantastic for summer but no other season. Currently use as my go to helmet shark shawl 2.

I had similar issues as you did with the 3.0! I had to return it and had no problem dunking on them in my review video lol. Waiting to order the 4.0 to see if its any better. I definitely think they're trying to get you on their side and wonder if your video even pushed them to make the stuffing better.

I certainly understand the criticism but more importantly it appears that Ruroc really internalized the feedback and instead of rolling over they seemed to have gone straight into taking all of the negative feedback straight into R&D. I am pretty impressed at this point but want a couple more hours of riding on the helmet to really make a more well rounded review video with one that fits right.

@@GearsGadgets Agreed. All the main negatives seem to have been addressed in the 4.0, although I'll have to see when I get it. I still enjoyed poking some fun at them tho. :) Oh and one other point. Aside from the helmet, the buying/return/exchange process needs to be fixed. 5 weeks and paying for shipping is utterly ridiculous. Spend the money for a US distribution center and offer free shipping on purchases and returns. Then they'll be onto something.

@@epicmotorcyclechannel307 agreed...took a chance on their EH Raptor jacket, luckily it worked out. But def concerned ordering in the US and having to return it for dif size if it didnt fit. It shld almost he standard now to either team up with a distro or create one yourself if you wish to make a dent in the US market

I’m genuinely happy they have improved their product, but I’ll never buy from them again. I was an early adopter and feel like I have a $400 paperweight that looks cool. It sucks buying a helmet for that price tag only to see 3 newer versions dropping within a couple years. I feel like so many people paid good money to test their products. Them deleting comments and reviews only made it feel worse. I’m happy with my agv k6 now. Hope the company continues to improve and make others happy.

Ruroc did themselves a lot of damage with the 3.0 releasing a product that wasn’t up to the hype. The uncritical reviews by various sponsored bloggers both did Ruroc and the bloggers damage and it turned into an unedifying shit show with fans and critics accusing each other of lying. When you cut one in half it showed graphically where they had cut corners. Plainly the Ruroc 3.0 wasn’t what it should have been. The new 4.0 looks from the outset a completely different product with a new lining , vents that close rather than need plugs and it passes the new EC22.06 standard . You were critical as was dandanthefireman and were subjective with it and I would take your opinions seriously, chase on two wheels ,blockhead and some others I have no time for.

A motorcycle helmet is a life safety device. With that being said, I 100 percent appreciate that you have given your honesty real life opinion with proof that the helmet was subpar. Everyone has a different anatomy which is why there’s so many different kinds of helmets in the market. What I liked about your 3.0 video was that you showed the inside and the helmet against a well known and highly proven brand. I hope that ruroc did make a safer helmet. Premium price should be premium safety. I do not agree with marketing over actual safety. Fit and finish are a safety issue. I personally don’t like quiet helmets. I like to hear the world around me, but I would definitely be curious about this 4.0 helmet with the features they say it has. I’m looking forward to your next video and to see how you actually feel about the 4.0.

Hey, This is mainly concerning fitment, I'm a size large in Shoei and HJC, I had purchased the the Atlas 3.0 around 2 months ago and going by there size chart and normal helmet size I ordered the Atlas 3.0 in size large, Big mistake as it was way to big, I wasn't impressed with the padding either so sent back for a refund, I may well be willing to give this 4.0 a try but do I buy the medium or large?? Thanks for the update, always checking your channel for reviews. Maybe now it is the real deal but I think I'm still going to pass. I get the challenge of challenging the incumbents and bringing a good new helmet, but this is first and foremost the most important safety piece of gear I wear. And it is not cheap. If you are challenging the incumbents you really need to bring your best from the get go. How many models of helmets have they put out that got so much backslash? You know what, that's not even the bigger issue, but their reputation on how they handled those situations. Terrible customer support and blocking people. Sending a product different than advertised too, wtf? How can I be asked to shell 500-600 and trust them? They did not build that trust and they actively build distrust. Most of us only get to afford one helmet, maybe two. You can't risk that much money in brand with years of a terrible reputation. For me to trust someone to buy safety gear I want to see several years of consistently putting a great product and treating their customers well. If in several years they've done that I'll be happy to check it out.

I bought my first Ruroc Atlas 4.0 being very skeptical after hearing all the complaints about the previous 3 versions. I received it on Thursday, finally was able to put it through its paces over the weekend. I honestly have to say I am quite surprised over the outcome. It is significantly quieter then my HJC I70, and slightly louder when it came to hearing my bike....but wind noise was slightly less then my Sedici Strada 2. The Shockwave system sounds much better then the Sena 10R I've used in both other helmets, but the controls are a bit difficult to use. The visibility and air flow is better than both other helmets as well. Really can't wait to see what's next from Ruroc.

You don’t have to worry Dan. If it is a better helmet than the RF then you should be proud of yourself. But you helped this company to get it right. They knew it was much better and proved it to you. That’s why they asked you to come to the unavailing of the helmet. Good on them! But I say good on you! You had the balls to go check it out! + in this day and age when people cannot keep a opened mind without spinning a bunch of BS I can count on you to tell it as you actually see it! 👍

Fit, finish, comfort and quietness are really important but what about actual protection? Beyond certifications, independent reviews are rating RF1400 amongst the best in class for protection (Helmet and visor). I'm looking forward to see destructive tests on that 4.0.

Soo, few questions: Vents: Are they toggles like every other helmet or does it still require purchasing plugs separately, taking the helmet off, liner out, and putting them in? Are ALL of the vents functional or are some still just for show? Bait and switch: Do you think they're going to do it again like they did with the 3.0, where the ads and such for it showed one thing, but final product was clearly something else? Do you think that everyone that got them this past weekend were given special premium versions or will what you got actually be what is released to the public?

So I will have a longer more in depth review coming but to answer your questions, yes the vents are functional and work well with no plugs needed. While I cant speak to their internal operations and intent I can assure you that if I caught wind of any different helmets being sent to customers than what I received to make commentary on... I would rage against the machine for spending my personal reputation with inaccurate commentary for the betterment of a brand. Not only would I NEVER do that even for a company I HAD ties with, It would make even less sense to stretch any truths for a company I had ABSOLUTELY zero financial gain from. Personally I think I am genuinely a good judge of character and I did catch good vibes from all the Ruroc staff I met at the event, I certainly didn't catch any whiffs of shenanigans or manipulation.

See the last comment i responded to of yours where I clarified that I spent $1,500 to get a free $500 helmet that I didn't and still don't need. I also made it incredibly clear in my video that I didnt pay for it. While I appreciate the skepticism, I dont appreciate the thinly veiled attempt at making it appear as if I didnt clearly convey ALL of the details that you chose to ignore to question my credibility.

Yeah, the models for the release promotion are going to be great but the retail versions will be a different product. Just like the 3.0 they are currently advertising with the original photos with the premium liner/pads but still shipping with the crap liner/pads

I don’t think that will be happening because I don’t think they could survive another 3.0. I really want to feel like this is a significant turning point for Ruroc and personally I feel this might be the helmet that changes narrative relatively quickly.

@@GearsGadgets I hope so. I love the look of the helmet but until I see us "normals" (lol) see the same product that creators (fan boys or ones they want to win over) recieve, I'll be holding off. Really hoping the 4.0 is legit as they are claiming it to be.
