In my review of the Ruroc Lite Ski goggles I said I wanted to test them against another pair of goggles from a more well established brand. The Anon M4’s are a formidable opponent with tons of features and technology I pit these two goggles against each other in the categories below:

Hey nice review, did you notice any difference between the cylindrical and toric lenses of the Anons? I’m curious if the toric shape is better than my current cylindrical lenses. Cheers

Not really, supposedly the Toric lenses because there’s more air volume inside don’t fog up as fast but in my experience they fogged up faster than the cylindrical ones. I honestly think for the anons it comes down to style more than anything. You would probably notice more of a difference on a goggle with a true spherical lens like the Oakley flight deck.

The Ruroc lite works well but someone mentioned that Anon helmets line up the vents better with the M4 so fogging isn’t an issue. Personally I think if you’re using a Toric lens it looks better with a peak like Rodan or Logan. Otherwise you cant go wrong with a a more simple look like a raider and cylindrical lens. It’s worth trying these on in person though, I’ve got really lucky with Ruroc helmets fitting me well, but I would always suggest going into a store if you can to try them on

Breathability may be down to the fact you have the ruroc helmet. I know with the smith helmet/goggles combo they have vents that flow straight from the goggles up out through the helmet

That’s a good point I’ll try it with an anon helmet and see if that makes a difference, I am using a pair of Oakley fall lines with the Ruroc helmet now and don’t seem to have any issues, but I’ll see if the anon helmet makes any difference

have you tried the ruroc low light lenses foe the lite? if so how good are they in general :)

Yes I have the yellow as I get on better with that one rather than the rose or orange but other people prefer the rose so I guess it depends on your eyes. What I’ll say though is the Anon lenses enhance the contrast so much more that I’d still pick the Red lens made for sunny conditions over the Ruroc lowlight lens as I can see more. That’s not saying the Ruroc lenses are bad… the anons are just in a completely different league

Are the red polarized lens worth it? Does it make everything look red or more to true world color?

I prefer the polarised lenses to the standard ones from Ruroc as they really increase the contrast… that said in lowlight and white outs you don’t get the same benefit because the polarised light doesn’t behave in the same way. It definitely tints the light though, but not as much as the anon lens does

I got a Ruroc full face 5 years ago. I just ordered the full face again but starting to want and more relaxed/ comfortable fit. I like the mask on colds days but no sure its worth it anymore. I ordered a lite with the googles too, still waiting for it to arrive. After seeing your videos and comments I’m thinking about ordering the anon M4 or Oakley fall line? Gonna end up returning whatever I don’t choose. Any thoughts?

Mostly concerned about the fogging in the anon or oakleys. I havnt had to deal with that with my Ruroc before

I should really do an updated video on this as I have the Oakley fall lines now and they quickly became my favourite goggles. The Prizm lens technology in my option is much better than both the Anon Perceive and Ruroc goggles. The only issue is changing the lenses isn’t that easy on the Oakley so you don’t want to be doing that on the mountain but the lenses do work for a much wider range of conditions. The venting on the fall lines is better than the anons in my testing so far and I’ve managed to get them to fog up very slightly on a really wet powder day but otherwise they seem to be great. The Anon lens change and mask integration though is sooooo good I kinda wish Oakley had that too and it would be perfect

Have you ever tried wildhorn googles? They are inexpensive. I wonder how they compare to the Oakleys?

The anons are probably fine for most people in most conditions, I run really hot all the time so I fog up more than most and the anons I’ve had fog up when it’s a really wet and snowing and using the mask or in the spring when it’s really warm. You can’t then clear the lens and carry on going. The oakleys I’ve had only partially fog up when I’m doing a lot of uphill on a warm day… but it’s only a little fog in comparison. If I had to choose between the two I would go oakley, I think they actually suit the size of the helmet better than the anons too

Hey, what are the rg1-do magloc goggles like with the lite helmet?

The RG1-DX goggles are a little weird without the helmet mostly because of the lower part extending out from the face, but happy to take a photo for you to see if you want?

Worn ruroc for the past 4 years but after trying the m4s just ounce I’ll never wear a ruroc google again the lens technology is just not there and the visibility on the full face helmet is terrible compared to oakleys or anons

Ruroc did go some way in improving their lens tech a few years back with Nastek but they were only available for one season. It’s a shame though as the lite goggles are better ventilated than anything I’ve ever tried and they just don’t fog up. I’m testing some Oakley prizm lenses this weekend so let’s see how those compare to the M4s
