I love that you do a presentation, makes it so much easier to follow. And thanks for sticking to landmap which is what 95% of us care about and want to learn. Keep up the awesome work! I liked all the games you showed, especially game 3 where you went early farms, which is something no one really talks about (I've only seen beasty mention it during an OOTD guide). I would have loved to see a game against English as that's the most ubiquitous civ on the ladder and everyone wants to see how to deal with them. I know you mentioned in the matchup section to go age 4 and push with Streltsy and Bombards against English but I think there are a lot of tactics along the way that a match or 2 would clarify for everyone
Hi, thank you! I played 1 game against English today - it was a bit easy for me because opponent made some mistakes (like losing a king), but it shows what I was talking about: www.twitch.tv/videos/2194006720?t=2240s I will try to get another ladder game vs English, but people don't pick it against me for some reason lol
This is fantastic content. Breaking things up with presentation is great. Also liked the explaining all the tactics and counters to each civ. Great work
Ayee Rus enjoyers! o7 Great video man! What I like to say is that the Rus generate a lot of resources ‘out of thin air’. Like you compared HRE, we dont gather faster but we just get more resources from the same source.
Let me know when you make a Japanese guide! Or you recommend one master class for the Japanese like you did with this Rus guide! This guide is the best, thank you very much!! I will post this on discord and hope this pops off!
Surprised you didnt mention Fervor buff in the Abbey. It increases the buff range of Warror Monks by a LOT and gives an extra +1 attack. So it ends up being +3 attack and +1/1 armor. Pairs really well with Knights and Horse Archers
You are right, it can also be very strong with mass archer (like mongol kurultai) But abbey is very situational and I rarely use it in my games. (btw, warrior monks work really well with spearmen/maa too)
Thank you for the video, very good guide! A comment specifically on the English matchup: you said to essentially "make 3 bombards and push" but how do you make it work in practice? In my experience the English player will simply make springalds out of their Berkshire or White Tower and they will fire faster then yours because of NoC, so you need springs and you need more then they have. Berkshire can even snipe your springs. I just find pushing English extremely hard unless you have an overwhelming advantage.
Thx! Of course it is situational, you can't go for the bombard + streltsy push in every game. Most games though, you will have an eco advantage (relics, raid damage, eco bonuses, imp discounts), so by the time you get bombards + streltsy, english player will not be able to get enough springalds to stop you. Remember that he also needs to research springald upgrade (or your bombards can snipe springald) and have something to stop your army
Would you recommend Rus for a new player trying to learn the game? Also, while I understand that win rates are basically useless for most players, why do you think Rus has some of the lowest win% in all leagues besides the very top of the ladder? Are they more difficult to play mechanically or less straight forward?
Probably. I was thinking about this too, The other races are more streamlined. I think Rus loses when you dont know what youre doing and play 2 strats in one. Beasty says Rus is S tier
Depends.. If you know RTS since before you can take Rus. But, example english. They have basic everything. So if you know english, you can play any other civ easier. But I pick rus for my first civ and I like it. You will probably lose a lot before you start wining. Also, you need to know your playstyle. If you like agressive, defensive or ecomony. Then pick a civ accordingly. Agressive require a bit more micro with raiding. RUS, you can play I belive any style. The upside is, you can play the style that counters your enemy better. If you try to play economy vs china who is strong economy, you prpbably will lose. But if you play agressive you will probably win. Thats the rus strenght.
Yeah, Rus are a good choice, because they give you a lot of flexibility and save you from some cheese (like tower rush/FC Burgrave) About winrates - I think that's because you dont have a straightforward win condition, and you need to adapt a lot to what is happening. It is not that hard to learn 3 scout micro or controling knights imo, but it can be difficult to understand when you should make knights, if you should play horse arhcers, go imp, be aggressive, etc.
Just put more villagers on gold, bounty will only get you to age 2 and eco upgrades (you don't need too many vills on gold though, after you get relics and high trade house)
It is very situational, but usually you are fine with either spearmen, maa or horsemen. My rule of thumb: - no horsemen counters --> make horsemen - enemy not making enough crossbows/handcannons (due to gold problems, etc.) --> make maa - need to deal with enemy cav, or just playing vs ottomans --> spearmen You can end up with a mix of these units (it is a game of rock paper scissors at a high level), which is completely fine - just don't forget university upgrades for all of them
@@blidge1 thanks a lot! much appricialted! rushing imp and skipping castle to mass stretlzy + bombars change my games completly! its so good =) also, today I used a spatskaya tower which i never use, because we were getting pushed in our team game, and it saved our asses!
@blidge1 Hi! u are from Russia. Me too. Can u train me? Im diamond3-conq1 but i want to play better. Im ready to pay u ₽ for your lessons. If u ok with it - let me know how to connect u. Thanks)
Hey, thx! Not doing coaching at the moment (might do later though). If you want me to look at some of your games, just ask on my stream, we can watch it
