REMASTERED IN HD! Amazon: bit.ly/Rush2112SDE_Web Music video by Rush performing Closer To The Heart. (C) 1977 The Island Def Jam Music Group and Anthem Entertainment #Rush #CloserToTheHeart #Remastered
FUN RUSH FACT: Rush writes their songs with stage performance in mind. The bell break that Neil plays at 0:58 was added in so Alex has time to swap from an acoustic guitar to electric which takes about five seconds
@@jojonorris8047 i get hypothetical ... neil would be up with serling bogart lennon ... having lunch - what would you bring up for chit-chat .... daunting
@@QueenofNonSequitur Have you listened to the Survival album? The USA can listen to I Want Freedom currently for sure. I Can Feel Him In The Morning highlights what crappy words this Rush song has. Anyways I prefer Budgie to Rush. Greetings from darkest Africa.
My first time ever hearing Rush! I was reading about Neil Peart and thinking that I should really listen to this band. I was not expecting those vocals! They really pierced thorugh my soul. Awesome band, l look forward to hearing the entire album.
Exactly! Im black too. Heard them innthe radio and LOVE them! I love tom sawyer, spirit of the radio and i believe theres a song called Free Will. Such good songs!

Glad to "SEE" you again, upside this stupid 'north of 60 border!!! ------------------------------------------ P.S.: Also very glad you are enjoying now "OUR" most famous rock group, and it's BEST election song EVER!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 Going back into elections ourselves. Cross your fingers and wish us "LUCK", 🍀, thanks out to all of you for now...luv ya all... 🇨🇦🙋CANADA!!!👏
I'm only here because a friend told me this song reminds him of a dragon! And a roleplaying campaign I'm running about the Harmonic Convergence. Do you really get me?
These lyrics still apply today: And the men who hold high places Must be the ones who start To mold a new reality Closer to the heart Closer to the heart The blacksmith and the artist Reflect it in their art They forge their creativity Closer to the heart Yes, closer to the heart Philosophers and ploughmen Each must know his part To sow a new mentality Closer to the heart Yes, closer to the heart Yeah! Oh You can be the captain And I will draw the chart Sailing into destiny Closer to the heart Closer to the heart
I realized a long time ago that a band doesn't have to have a number 1 song or album to be considered great, but still, I'll never understand why this song didn't top the charts. It is a perfect song!
I’m from Buffalo NY and we have a rich tradition of Canadian radio airwaves making their way crystal clear across Lake Ontario..it blows my mind to this day that The Tragically Hip are virtually unrecognized outside Canada and Western New York. RIP Gord Downie thank you for a lifetime of memories
@@claytonanderson6399 That comment is on EVERY MUSIC VIDEO ON RU-vid. Has been for over a decade. It's the most overused line in the history of civilization.
As a teenager, I was amazed by their sound for a three-man band. And couldn't understand why they won't as popular with my friends into rock. Thought their sound and lyrics were top.
RIP the two members of Rush John Rutsey (July 23, 1952 - May 11, 2008), aged 55 Neil Peart (September 12, 1952 - January 7, 2020), aged 67 You both will always be remembered as legends.
My experience is that when Geddy sings "Closer to the heart, yeah" when his voice goes high on the "yeah", the "yeah" somehow sends the sound into infinity.
Shockingly absent from today's music are minds of this magnitude. It is sad i have to feel some anger along with my estasy in contemplating the state of music today as it compares to that of yesterday.
yes when most of the top 10 musicians didant even play on,,drum machines and samples,,,DJ and the powers that be control and educate wrongly,,i rember the 70"s a band in every pub,,then the dj and the disco came,,that was the start mate ,,now real talent gets over looked in favor of a fast sell with there fingers in the pie
Exactly, Exactly how did music devolve into what it is today? Maybe RUSH unknowingly spelled out with the Spirit of Radio. FM radio stations had influence into which bands made it to the top.
That's like saying there were too many "Love is all you need"'s at the end of All You Need Is Love or "Na Na Na NANA Na Na, Nana Na Na, Hey Jude"'s at the end of Hey Jude . . .
Geddy's bass playing on the first verse is so incredibly cool. Thoughtful, melodic, syncopated, and such beautiful phrasing as it descends to the bottom note at the end of the line.
Indeed. That special, specific Rickenbacker sound! Played also by one of his influences- Chris Squire of Yes. (smaller model) Something about that Rick' sound...and fat round wound strings. 🎸
The lyrics in this song are so simple, yet speak so loudly. Rush is just an absolutely incredible incredible band. R.I.P. Neil and THANK YOU for the amazing music.
I’ve seen Rush in concert five different times over the years. The first time I saw them was on this tour. Back in the days of General admission we would show up early and run right up to the stage!!!! Great memories! Rest In Peace Neil, you were one of a kind.
This song was like a light shining in a dark time. No one was writing songs like this anymore. And we were all stunned there were only three musicians playing on this track!
I remember riding in the car with my 12 yo son, he's trying to talk and I'm like hold on, listen to this, can you believe this is 3 guys?? Listen, tell me in a minute ....... Son became an awesome self taught drummer in a few years with Neil Peart as his idol
This amazing song reminds me of my late friend Kevin, who went to see Rush dozens of times in concert during his lifetime and even sneaked backstage twice to meet the band. RIP, buddy.
Geddy lee amazes me how he sings and plays these cascading bass lines and those foot pedals. I can barely play guitar by itself. All three are phenomenal musicians. RIP professor!!
Can't stop reading the 'comments' from everybody that luvs this band and this song as much as I do! Thanks everyone! 👋🙋🇨🇦💋 Election time coming up for us Canadians...cross your fingers and wish us luck!!! 🍀🍀🍀
They are all amazing, but Geddy playing bass and singing at the same time, with each part full of passion, rhythmically independent... he's most amazing.
May 27 2022... This song still resonates, with a world spinning into uncontrolled oblivion, we seem to somehow elect or give power to those who not only lack heart, but gravitate towards psychopathic, power hungry tendencies. Jimi Hendrix's timeless statement "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace”
