Fantastic. Russell was almost 60 when he sang this. His voice is still strong and still has range. THANK YOU, Russel Morris, for writing this masterpiece.
I honestly think he's up there with Paul McCartney and Tom Jones. Another underrated male vocalist is Doug Parkinson the guy had the world's largest vocal lungs imo.
I saw Doug live at Kirribilli RSL. Disappointingly small crowd to see the big man. Quite frankly watching him sing, drink and smoke, all at a million miles an hour I don't know how he did it. This was over 20 years ago now. @@shanerorko8076
I have been amazed by the quality of his voice and his professional performance for many many years, we never miss his shows when he visits South Australia. A genuine legend, number one in the land no doubt.
What an amazing live performance 36 years after this great song was first recorded. Russell Morris is an Aussie legend and he's still going strong even in 2018, after more than 50 years in the business. Respect!
I'm so glad that Wngs of an Eagle came to mind the other day. I've been in my happy place listening to Russell ever since. These live videos are such a gem.
geez - I'm a kiwi, but lived and worked in Moonah, Hobart in 81....played rugby...met me gorgeous wife there.....and we both loved Russ...she passed when she was young - sucks.
Keeping a strong vibrato, while dropping a few notches down the scale of expectations , is a rarity. and no one does it , as smooth and sweet as Russell ❤️
Saw Russell around 5 years back at Crown in Melbourne and he was amazing, absolutely one of the greatest Aussie singer/songwriters ever and what a great show!! Great guy who took the time to meet and greet us after the show, and took photos with me and my wife, we still cherish them today!
NZ… but makes no difference. I love the sincerity of his words, have always imagined him to be a gentle soul, and a wonderful family man. I’d happily listen to him, singing the phone book.

Had the pleasure of interviewing Russ a few years ago for a fledgling column and his Bloodstone album was the main focus of the chat. I'd forgotten smashing around the living room as an 8 year old to this track until then. Generous, funny legend.
I remember this song I think It came out when you return from overseas you are on the ship and sing this song when it came out I remember it well still going strong with your voice
I have been a follower of your work for quite sometime - this rendition 30+ years later still holds up, very strongly. Cant wait to see you performing again😀
