I like Hayley am a Kiwi . A couple of years back i visited the UK and Hayley came on TV and sung Pokekare ana , a song i knew well . But hearing it so far from home was amazing .
I first heard this song when I was a lad of about 12 and it has always stuck in my mind. It's the kind of simple yet joyful tune that is hard to forget.
English bloke... Fantastic singer... He has done really well to survive two brain tumours in the recent past. Russell Watson is the name. Respect to real hero... Get well soon!
Russell Watson has never claimed to be an opera singer,he is a tenor plucked from obscurity with no formal classical training.has a great range of voice and sings in so many different styles.the people's tenor because of his humble background and just a hell of a nice grounded guy!continues to have voice coaching and is just fantastic.continued good health Russell
just picked this up on uwall. absolutely beautiful watson great and enjoy the comparison of wonderful Haley and lately of Jackie Evancho although age difference makes it difficult. Love them both. This duo and this song brings out the best . blessings to all. bob
These are two of my favorite singers. I enjoy each of them individually but I enjoy them even more togther. The combination is quite unique and thrilling.
Hayley Westenra delivers the song with such ease and beauty while you can hear Russell tries to catches some breath and moving microphone away. Russell is terrific but Hayley's performance is beyond this world. You can tell too that Russell is just as enchanted by her voice as the fans.
she has a voice like an angel, the first time i watched it i cried,i wish they would have sang it on either of their cds, they both are very talented..
Hayley is from Christchurch New Zealand and the native language there is Mauri(sp). Pokare Kare Ane is a Mauri love song about someone gone to sea, leaving their loved one behind.
In their defense, I think Hayley was only 13yrs. old at the time...not bad for kid. Before they sang this song (a part not included in this clip), that he's never sung the song before, and Hayley mentioned that she'd never sung it as a duet. So all things considered, it's a great performance.
Russel has been around awhile. I have his "The Voice" CD and have had it for many years. You have been missing out, check him out singing "Bridge Over Trubles Waters" with Sissel! AWESOME!
I CAN do it!!! Message to Russell, Hayley and Aled. I would love to tag this with ' Beauty from Brokenness ' I know I can - and I WANT to. Even if it's the tween verse. I can do it. I believe that the particular hymn is appropriate and apt! Aled, Russell and Hayley - I want to give it the best go - possible!
@perpetual61 Yes, they did. On Russell's CD "OUTSIDE IN" (2007) Hayley sings with him 'Time To Say Goodbye'. I'm not sure, but I think that there is a video of this duet, here on RU-vid. You'll like it.
He is expressing his appreciation. And trying to be charming and encourging I suppose. He said just before they sang this that he hadn't sung it before. It's on RU-vid.
Arnold - Let's get this corrected. My intentions is to show that there's a very strong sympathy to the people of New Zealand. As the leading nation of the British Commonwealth I feel I have a duty to ratify that fact and so back up the New Zealand people to that end. I see that as a moral obligation and so am determined to do so! You have explained this in the way that you want to see it. I believe that the obligation goes further - a great deal further in fact! I will master Pokarekare Ana and I will do so - any way I can !
If singing well is a requirement for entry into heaven, alot of people are gunna miss out - big time!!! And there will be some nasty characters there as well. I think I like the way it's already set up - trust God, and we'll all sing beautifully when we get there. :D
Look, I like Russell, he's a character, and I'm not saying that Hayley would never need help. But the last song on earth she'd need help with is Pokarekare Ana. By the time they are about 13 all Kiwis have sung that song a zillion times. At first Russell stands there stiff like a dummy and smiles and nods when she smiles at him. I don't see how he is being a help.
You miss it all - it was to portray both their voices - and that was the start and end. But they clicked and the result was great. Peace for Christmas and may your new year bring half as much as I want from mine. Sorry
Actually, of course, he's about 41 now and she is 20. But he's married and it seems to be quite happily so. If he was a bit younger and unmarried then it may not be a bad idea.
I want to learn this - so I can send my own best wishes to the people and communities of New Zealand after the horrible events on the 15th of March. I think that a little bit of help is needed - to do so! And so. RSDG - can you help out ?
Stephen Farthing Hello Stephen I understand your concern my friend. But did you know that every hour 60000 people die of starvation. The problems too big for us to handle my friend. All in God's due time. Sincerly Arnold Bourbon Amaral Revalation 21--1--4. Psalms. 37--10--30. 🌍🌏🌎🌿📖
