Yes, our country blessed by many resources and we still can manage. And wheat is not our main food, it's rice. But you are right, the price increase has been a concern especially for middle class and lower income family.

There are a couple of points that I want to expand on: -First, while supply of wheat in Indonesia is affected, wheat was never a necessity or a priority source of food sources in Indonesia. Majority of wheat are to be processed and exported as instant ramens (indomie) anyway. -Second, Indonesia is rich in energy resources such as palm oils and coal deposits and therefore it is not affected as much as other countries. While a lot of countries are heading for bankruptcy, Indonesia's current economy can be said to be relatively stable. So why did our president go through such lengths to put himself AND the first lady in danger by visiting these warring countries? Because he wants the world to see that Indonesia can be the bridge between both countries and achieve world peace. To put a stop on the war and prevent other countries from being affected any further. We are very blessed and proud to have such a compassionate and wise leader such as Pak Joko Widodo.

That's because Indonesia is considered a "friendly country" aka won't criticise the Russian government. Russia and the Us has beef, and that means rest of Europe is forced into the mess. Ofc neighbouring countries to Russia aren't fond of Russia when they keep threatening us. It's only about power and alliances that sets people up against each other. Indonesia can't stop the long history of russian aggression towards Ukraine. Neither the US nor Russia has any business of independent countries and their choices, which is why their previous agreement about nato was foolish. The only reason my neighbouring countries wanna join Nato is because they're afraid of Russia in regards to the damage and terror they've inflicted on their neighbours. Our leaders can't do much, unfortunately, cause we're already labeled as "unfriendly".

Widodo only visited Ukraine and Russia because it affected their wheat imports badly, and because they rely on Ukraine for their wheat. That's only the point. Sure this promotes peace, but the only reason behind this state visit is for the sake of Indonesia only and nothing else.

There is no need for a mediator in a war like this. In palestine, yes. In Ukraine no. Its a move solely by one aggressor, aimed at keeping a empire long gone. Russia is one of the aboslute most aggressive nations on the planet, only compareable to the middle eastern countries and maybe the US.
This is how you mediate and calm both countries. Listening to both parties, bridge the communications, and offer peaceful solution that benefit all. You won't stop war by boycotting and sending weapons, you just fuel them to do more. Hopefully all the leaders that promotes "peace" before can learn from this.

Indonesia is also a massive global politics player - big economy and population. That's why Jokowi could afford to throw his weight to stop this conflict. What is other example of this? If I recall it correctly, Indonesia has sent Garuda troops to fulfill the mission of the United Nations Security Council, to where? to countries that has war ongoing. For example are the Middle East country, although we rarely see them in action, this is another form of WHAT we do to fulfill our ancestor will. Some other examples are Non-block Movement formed back then to bridge between the cold war as almost every country are divided based on "East Block" and "West Block". In Muhammad Hatta's (Indonesia 1st Vice President) famous speech, "Paddling between two rocks (IND: Mendayung diantara dua karang)", he said something about how this world divided by 2 great force of Russia and America and yet why should we choose one of them when we can stay neutral and stable. I notice that Pres Widodo was very careful choose his word. When he visited Ukraine he said "Kyiv", when he visit Moskow he say "Kiev". It is exactly same city but has different nationalism . Kyiv is Ukranian language, Kiev is Russian.

As a Indonesian, i am totally agree with my president this time. I mean, in here in Indonesia, Jokowi have a lot of critique from the citizen. But in this difficult situation, our first needs are "food." I know before this time many people also strugle with food. But this time are worst. Yes, I am an Indonesian. More than 30% wheats here is imported from Ukraine. And bc of war, we also lack of fertilizer. We usually get fertilizer from Russia. Big steps is started from a small step. I hope this war will be end as soon as possible...
