This is my favourite video of yours, as you describe everything that I do when I box! I use all of these techniques and I base my game plan on old Soviet style of boxing. I would be very interested in seeing you do breakdowns for Dmitry Bivol fights, since he is very similar to this in the way he fights. He controls range, changes level and feints plenty to get a reaction, before countering with quick bursts once his opponent has stopped missing haha!

what makes this style different compared to the Cuban style as they are very similar?

@@pj11 Both have in common that they olympic/amateur styles which means shorter bouts and less rounds, so more pressure to score - hence the tiring footwork and high intensity/volume. I would say Cuban style differs from Eastern Bloc in terms of footwork and movement - Cuban style is heavy on lateral movement patterns, pivots, diagonal stepping, focusing on creating angles with these patterns. Eastern Bloc style focuses a lot more on the pendulum step (front to back movement) using rhythm and timing to make feints, draw opponents in and create opportunities to strike. Eastern Bloc style has a very unique guard/hand positioning, where the palms tend to face down more than toward you and hooks to the head are almost always thrown long with the palm facing down. Sometimes the uppercuts in Eastern style are thrown with a neutral/vertical hand position, which I've not seen anywhere else.

Such great videos. “Blue helmet” here is Dmitry Bivol, who’s gone on to be a hell of a fighter as a pro

When I was in elementary school I would go over my buddy’s house a lot and his older siblings always encouraged us to box and doing so, they all said I fought Russian style because I would always utilized my footwork out of instinct to provoke him because in my thinking he was bigger than me and always covered up while being planted and I didn’t want to be the first one drawn in.

It is great to have a chance to learn from different schools and find your preferred style.

@@INNIMA It is usually dependent if you are a brawler or a defensive guy, a natural instinct, your body knows how many blows it can take and signals you the appropriate style. Some guys just feel in their gut that their body genetically is more designed for heavy blows so they never adapt the floyd mayweather or lomachenko style where the intellect in the ring has priority. Style is inherited as a result on how robust your body is, skinny long guys wont fight like Tyson...
