People fail to understand that when Russia comes in, it does not suck out resources leaving ruins behind, like US does. Russia comes to build civilization. 90% of Afganistan's infrastructure was built by USSR.

What I find laughable is how Ukrainians act like they've owned Crimea for centuries. Like, girlfriend, you only administratively held it from 1991 to 2014, stop embarrassing yourself. The same can be said for Mariupol and other cities that were administratively trapped in Ukraine after the fall of USSR. 😅

It is not colonization. It is the Russian liberation of Mariupol.

They say the same thing about Crimea. The reality is that Russia annexed Crimea without a single soldier or civilian casualty. This would be impossible to do if the population wasn't OK with it. Also, there haven't been any armed uprisings or political shakeups in the last 10 years, which is proof that the people are happy with the outcome.

Fun Fact about Russia: It was Russia who saved The Union during the American Civil War as they sent their Navy to San Francisco and New York when England and France were just about to enter the war on the side of the Confederates since London created the Confederates. France was already in Mexico making a spear head movement to resupply the Confederates and to open up a Pacific Theatre and to create a port in California. England already amassed 11,000 troops and growing stationed at their Northern Confederacies border now called Canada ready to open a Northern Theatre to divert Union troops away from their Southern Confederacy then to attack The Unions naval blockade. The Union would have been completely destroyed and annexed by those two great powers leaving the Confederates to exist as either a puppet state of London or to be fully brought back into the fold of the British Empire. London was already courting (threatening/bribing) other countries to get involved like Spain while Russia was in talks with Prussia to ally with incase London was to intervene. Seeing all of this Tsar Alexander II wrote a letter to Queen Victoria saying “If you enter in this war it will be a casus belli for all out war with the Russian Empire”. The stage was set for the 1st World War and Russia stopped it. There is also a memorial in San Francisco for the hundreds of Russian sailors who came off their Asiatic fleet ships that died while helping the city put out a fire that threatened to lay waste to it during the War.

When Russia invaded the Ottoman Empire in 1887, it was the “illegal” invasion that liberated Christian Bulgarians from Islamic oppression. Bulgaria had the freedom of the most advanced democracy and constitution based on the Belgian one. Actually the Bulgarians were more free than the Russians themselves, their liberators, and used their new freedom to turn against Russia by siding with the Germans and the Turks in WW1.

Britain's rapidly being colonized by a constant flood of immigrants and nobody in politics will do anything to reverse or even slow it down! There's a Reform party that seems to be serious about doing something but the establishment will do everything it their power to stop them getting elected. I'd love to be in a position to move to Russia one day and embrace Russian culture which is much more in line with my values than what Britain is becoming. The city was established in the 18th century where Greek had been relocated to and they were the majority of the city. There're still Greek speaking people there, but their numbers are small today. Russia is a multi cultural federation with people with different cultures and religions. They have the right to settle in any Russians 😊region and follow they culture and religions.

Because it's ironic that former Soviet Countries that miss the USSR is the Central Asian State, while like Baltic State and Ukraine don't despite being literally the second most developed SSR after the RSFSR. In Slovakia we have minorities, lots of Hungarians in the South , but government knows to treat them right to keep the peace. The trolls are jealous as Mariupol and the Donbass at large are poised to become prosperous within the next decade. The only way is up! Azov is now a Russian sea, hurrah!

I appreciate your civility in this discussion. I must add a counterpoint. If you are going to destroy an entire city and 40% of the population leaves as a result. Then it is hard to articulate how rebuilding it and repopulating it is NOT colonization. Pro-Ukraine or not, the people are who suffer from the struggle. Of course I am preaching to the choir, as you lived there through it. But what is also striking to me, is just how poorly the Ukraine government managed Mariupol prior to the Russian invasion. Poor housing, poor roads, poor infrastructure. Russian did it's best to rebuild in a short period of time to clean up the mess they made, but also revitalize the poor conditions. I don't know whether to praise this or complain. Because my girlfriend lives there, I don't want to see it go poorly? Why would I want to see her city by destroyed and the people still suffering. But now, she has a job, and is very busy. It is good for her, because last year she was struggling alone with her parents and no future in site. Due to the quick rebuild she has a job and sounds very hopeful for her city. Her parents refused to leave the area and will never abandon the city. Regardless of whoever claims to own the area, those are the types of people you want to help rebuild it. They are loyal to the city. This is the most proud way to extol virtue. National allegiance matters little, what matters most is loyalty to your next door neighbors. I am so proud of her and her family. And God willing, I will come and visit you lovely folks someday when Russia/USA relations are repaired. I am praying Trump can help stop the war, and help rebuild relations in the west with the Russians. By the way, I must add. I was a soldier in the Iraq war. And our government misled us to believe we were helping Iraq rid themselves of an evil dictator and improve their quality of lives. But, instead, we destroyed their country and left them in destruction. And those who started the war became rich at their expense from war profiteering. It is sad, that the military industrial complex counts civilians as pawns, and soldiers as canon fodder. Neither the Russian, nor Ukrainian soldier deserves to die. Nor did any single life of the Iraqi population, innocent civilians. It is a shame and sham, that war is sought after from baseless lies saying the Iraqis had weapons of mass destruction, but did not. And then we as a United States country spent billions of dollars on an unholy, illegal war, only to ruin the lives of millions of people. Have mercy on the soldiers. We knew nothing. We only knew what we were told; Iraq needed a savior, and we were it. Hindsight is always 20/20, but history will never forgive a liar. Bush and his warchief profiteer Dick Cheney, should be tried for treason, and for crimes against humanity. And the US government should have helped rebuild Iraq, but never did. I wish I could personally do something about it. But unless God blesses me with 50 billion dollars, all I can offer is my humble apologies and a sincere symbol of regard. War is hell, and we all suffer. May God show mercy on us all and help us end these wars. May he bless us with favor and the ability to help rebuild the war torn countries. Russia built Marupol for Greek refugees from Ottoman Opression during Tsar Catherine's rule Odessa and Sevastopol have similar stories. Kharkov was another city Catherine founded.
