Thank you for the detailed video Mystic, I appreciate your input in this game so much! I am still pondering about the reel "Features" descriptions like "Power/carp fishing", and "Great pull"! Do you think these have hidden stats, or could they be developer hints about what to use them for? I havent found anything related. Anyway, keep up the good work! :)
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare 3 года назад
I think they are really just hints to tell newer players what they can be used for honestly. If you look at multiple reels with the same "Features" you'll notice they all will usually have close to the same drag weights and line capacities. Most carp reels will have close to 300 line capacities while trolling reels will have higher mech weights. Also usually reels that have low gear ratios almost always have the "carp" or "great pull" features on them.
@CrippledSamuel
@CrippledSamuel Год назад
yeah.. as a user of caliber for more over 7 months, i repaired the mech about 2 times and i wore them out till about 20-30% and still could fish on it bcs you can fish easily on friction and i never use locking
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
You obviously don't quite understand. When people say "oh yeah I don't lock my reel so I'm completely fine allowing my mech to get a high wear." They are literally informing everyone they don't know what they're doing. It's not just about locking your reel. It's about having an incorrect setup where if you make a mistake and max your tension bar your reel is going to break. All because you thought you were fine because "you don't lock" and allowed your wear to get too high. It's about accidentally snagging your bait or lure while still reeling, jerking too hard, reeling in at full speed and getting caught on something, jigging at full 50 speed and getting snagged, fighting a fish that darts into a hole or behind a log that maxes out your tension bar. You may have been fine allowing your wear to go that high because you got lucky, but one day you'll allow your wear to get that high and you'll accidentally max your tension bar and break your reel. Then you'll understand.

Hi Mystic, it all depends on what type of fishing style u are into, that will give u the reel choice, narga and alfa is good for trolling, and caliber is just a good beginner carp reel, same with the bigger evia and caliber, evia for trolling and caliber for carp, great vid thx
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare

With Evias huge line capacity, large mech weight, and bigger drag weight, it's actually a complete all around reel that can be used for carp, sturgeon, and trolling. I love it and I'll be putting out a video on it one of these days. Just need to edit the clips I already have and add commentary.

Right now, the price (Vóljov) are: Beluga Narga = 3490,80. Caliber HSV = 2884,78 Now, I think the Caliber is a better choice considering the price difference. Two similar reels but with 606 silvers difference.

So what reel should i buy for a 21kg feeder rod? I fish at Bear Lake so what is a good reel for like carps?
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
The best reel beginner carp players go for is usually the Caliber HSV. However most people usually buy 25-30 kg rods for that, like the model one feeder rod at 30 kg or the Fortuna carp rod at 40kg. I'm not sure if your 21kg rod could handle the base HSV drag weight let alone the upgraded weight. There's a possibility that you won't be able to turn up the brake to 29 without redlining the tension bar. But I think you could turn it up to at least 26 which would work ok. You could also go with the Alpha, that is a cheaper reel that has a slightly lower drag weight. If you want to go even cheaper and strictly for Bear carp the Gold 80 would work fine for a 21kg rod. If you honestly want to know what I'd do. I'd buy an HSV, throw it on your 21kg rod and fish for enough silver to replace your 21kg rod with a Fortuna carp rod at 40kg. Then I'd buy 2 more Fortuna carp rods and 2 more HSV. Then move to Amber when you open it up. That is however mostly for carp fishing. If you want to troll as well then you'll want 3 Superduty spin rods to go with your 3 HSV.

Is this still up to date ? Or it's outdated information ?
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
It's up to date except for 2 things. The HSV can now have its drag weight upgraded a couple of kg higher when repairing which makes it more useful and powerful. Also the Beluga Narga's price has been sky rocketed to the point it's just not worth it anymore to buy it. Other than that it's still up to date.
@SkilfulDTS1
@SkilfulDTS1 3 года назад
just a small note about gear ratios.... yes the HSV is faster at realing in BUT and this is a good BUT... when you have a BIG fish on it is better to have a LOW gear ratio as this has an effect on your energy.. the lower gear ratio is better at bringing in BIG fish... and the new prices are just not worth the time if carping is your thing.. i advised a person to go Alfa 8000 then straight into the Tagara 10000.. and they never looked back.. and even pulled in bluetag commons on the alphas.. i got Nargas when they came out before the calibers were in the game.. but seems the devs are trying to get people to buy gold to buy stuff... this is the thing with the price increase.. and i dont think it will stop there.. the prices will go up again which i find a shame.. love the content keep up the good stuff ;)

I noticed the gold 60s is the same max as the 80s and is cheaper. Do know why, I think it's do do with line capacity
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare 2 года назад
I can't see if when you repair both if both will allow you to replace the friction brake with a higher max drag or not. However from what I can see it looks like the only real difference between them is the line capacity and the mech weight. The 80s has a mech weight of 32 kg. I can't find the 60s mech weight but usually the smaller model number, 80 vs 60, has a lower mech weight.

I'm thinking about something, A big fish will redline your reel pretty fast so you probably can't stay at 29. So even with a higher drag weight wouldn't a reel that take more time to redline better?
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare 2 года назад
It doesn't really work like that. If your setup is correct, meaning it doesn't redline at 29, then it doesn't matter how big of a fish you have on. The tension bar will never ever redline at 29. However if something on your setup is too light and can't handle the stress of your brake at 29 then it will instantly redline when a big fish runs and pulls line. A reel with a larger drag weight that is set up correctly so it doesn't redline at 29, will allow you to put a lot more resistance on the fish and wear it out faster. A reel with a lower drag weight, set at 29, puts less resistance and takes longer.

@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare 2 года назад
@@castor2000 Oh I see. I'm not sure how to judge how fast a reel overheats though. I know that a higher drag weight reel will overheat slower because the fish can't pull line as fast as a lower drag weight reel. Also there are some reels that are higher quality that will overheat slower as well. I just think it would be hard to really tell how fast a reel overheats or not and to try and use that to make a choice buying a reel. Would be cool if we had an overheat rating on the reel's stats.
@castor2000
@castor2000 2 года назад
@@midnightgamingmysticnightmare actually i just imagined a pretty simple way to test it. Find a way yo stuck your lure, set the drag force to a number, 29 should be perfect, and walk away with a chrono. I don't have a lot of reel to test it on but i'll test on 2 and if the time are the exact same then it's not important other way we need further investigation
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare 2 года назад
@@castor2000 If the star quality rating of the reel is different then there will be different times for sure. If it's the same then I'm not sure. Also you need to make sure they both have the same lubrication at the repair shop, that can change the overheat as well.
@magshype

I'm confused, if the hsv has 1kg more max drag and you claim it can pull in a fish 7% faster on average, then what if you have a 28kg line on hsv and a 35kg on the narga, doesn't the narga have an overall better drag or is that only if you lock it? Also why do you recommend 22kg line on narga for carp fishing, i always have used 28kg with no issues.
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare 3 года назад
Your drag weight is how much pressure your reel brake is putting on the fish to lower its stamina and wear it out. The higher the drag weight the more pressure and the faster you're going to wear out the fish. Your line weight doesn't have anything to do with drag weight. So different line weights don't give you more or less drag weight and pressure. The only time your line weight effects your drag weight is when your line is too light for your setup. If your line is too light then you can't increase your brake to 29 while fighting a fish and put the full pressure on the fish. An HSV with 28kg line and a Narga with 35kg line both have a heavy enough line to put a full brake setting of 29 on any fish they hook into. So no matter what setting their brakes are on, as long as they are both on the same setting, the HSV will always put 1kg more drag weight of pressure on the fish. The reason I suggest a 22kg line on a Narga for carp fishing is because a 22kg line is the lowest line weight you can go and still set the Nargas brake to 29. Having a 22kg line will put a lot more line on your reel than a 28kg line and when you hook into that trophy 35kg Mirror or Leather you're going to want that extra line to give you enough time to wear it out without having to run down the bank. I used to use a 28kg line on my Narga as well but a couple of 35kg trophies showed me I needed a little more line. The 22kg line gives that extra line on my reel.

I love the Caliber 80 slc. It's the first reel I used after I upgraded from the beluga narga and caliber HSV. It's also great because you can upgrade the drag weight to 19kg. So in the end it becomes a pretty powerful reel. I still use one today on Archipelago.

If you're upgrading from a regular HSV a lot of people suggest just saving up, fishing Archi with your HSV and going strait to Venga 10000.If you didn't want to do that you could always go for a Tagara. That way if you went for either of those you could immediately use them on the new Norwegian map. Maybe do a video discussing the pros and cons of grinding straight to tagara via the HSVs etc. Vs getting intermediates first like the SLC and Evia. Also, HSV seems to wear faster than Narga, quite significantly, but is cheaper to repair to compensate.

Very nice video but i dissagree with the alfa im level 35 and i use 3 calibers i used to use 1 caliber and 2 alfa and in everything alfa is good just it fb is so trash i i get spolled from.a 15kg antlatic and a wear on the fb but for the caliber i pulled out a sturgeon 16kg with no spoling at all just reeling that sucker in but caliber is so good for everything the narga i dint buy because it was more expensier and i wanted a reel that i can upgrda my fb and calibsr can be upgraded to 17kg and it will be soo good and wearing a lot slower then alfa and narga but the heavy fish are kinda anoying beacouse of the 4:7:1 gear ratio but the lower the gear ratio the lower the wear im just saying upgraded caliber is a GREAT option for trolling and carping i can use it on archi no problem and caliber gets heated up a lot less then the alfa an alfa would get heated like hell from an 20kg mirror carp and an 15kg anthalic maybe and the heat up drains the greasse and the friction brake a lot faster and thats why im picking the caliber over the alfa
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
Alpha, Narga and HSV all have the same durability star rating. Meaning their friction brakes are all the same durability, so they all wear at the same rate. The reason the Alpha wears a little faster is because its gear ratio is faster making it back spool easier when reeling on a big fish. This does more wear and tear. People with Alphas just need to pay more attention to when to start and stop reeling. HSV is great because it can be upgraded, but it's not really worth it to upgrade for trolling since you can chase the fish with the boat. However upgrading the HSV for carp fishing to slow the fish down faster is highly recommended and worth it.
@wickedfuctup
@wickedfuctup Год назад
There are things missing or not quite correct in this analogy. The HSV will crank faster than the Narga, the cost of repairs on Volkov is much much cheaper than the Narga repaired at the cheapest lake it allows. The Narga using the FB wears faster than the HSV also, so a higher mech weight fades away quickly due to more frequent repair costs. Isn't the spool size also larger on the HSV, which when fighting fish that dive 6m or more will allow you to not get spooled easier than the Narga, which allows you to use it farther into the game? The Cailber also can be used for bottom and spinning more effectively then the Narga can. You can pair it with a Fortuna Carp rod or a Match One Spinning rod and it will carry you better than the Narga. Caliber is also cheaper than the Narga which provides a much better performance per silver than the Narga. I think the winner is clearly the HSV.
@midnightgamingmysticnightmare
In the side by side video I showed the HSV beat the Narga by only 5 seconds in crank speed. Compared to the randomness of fish size and weight, that 5 second speed difference would take years to even make a difference. So crank speed in this case means nothing. While the cost to repair the HSV is slightly cheaper, you repair the HSV Mech much more often because of how low the weight is. You repair the HSV Mech around once a month compared to the Narga which is once every 5 months. This makes it so you spend much more repairing the HSV Mech because you repair it so often. However the lower cost of the brake for the HSV eventually overtakes the Mech repair savings you get with the Narga, which I mentioned in the video. I’m not sure where you got the information that the Narga FB wears faster than the HSV, but that’s just not true. The FB wear is based off the type of reel and star quality the reel has. Both the HSV and Narga are 4 stars, so at the very least they are exactly the same on FB durability. However it’s been hinted by the devs, and the Narga price increase, that a higher Mech weight means a more durable FB. So if anything the Nargas FB might be better. I also mentioned the line capacity of the HSV over the Narga in the video. This is why I stated the HSV is slightly better at bottom fishing and the Narga is better at trolling. However you absolutely can do anything with the Narga you can do with the HSV. The slightly higher line capacity and drag weight isn’t big enough to make much of a difference. I do however agree with you on the price. The price of both reels were once reasonable but the devs just kept raising the price of the Narga making it no longer worth it. In the end the Narga is a tough heavy duty reel made mostly for trolling. While the HSV is lighter with more line and drag better suited for bottom. If we take out the price difference I don’t see really any difference between them, just different fishing style advantages.
