Beautiful paint job on a gorgeous jet. I'm an American living in Vietnam, and used to live in a high-rise building overlooking an air base. The Vietnamese fly these beautiful planes, and used to fly right by my window on the 17th floor. Day after day, my own private air show. It was amazing!
I've been fascinated with Russia since I was a child, and this just makes me even more excited to go one day! The Sukhoi fighters, and the performance, were just awe inspiring.
truly inspiring routine. There is quite a deal of respect between the ground crew and the pilots. It goes to show how committed these blokes are and if there is a female pilot, hats off to you too. FANTASTIC
they aren't flying special made aerobatic planes like thunderbirds as an example, but on the same military airframes in a special livery. that's impressive

They do loops, rolls, barrel rolls, tail-slides, inverted flights, high-g turns, breaks, crossings, vertical bomb-burst, the same what the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels do. ;))
Formula 33, I saw the Red Arrows when they toured the US last year. most of what they did was pretty formation flybys. Still neat, but they lacked the excitement and energy level of the Blue Angels & Thunderbirds. It was cool , but it was a different show. I'm sure partly due to the vast difference in performance of the airplanes each team uses. And I watched this video hoping to be wowed by the "awesome" Russian fighters, but it was actually disappointing. Maybe you have to see it in person.

Wow...pretty bland until about 12:30 when they finally started some actual aerobatic solo maneuvers. For an aircraft (beautiful as it is) that supposedly defies the laws of physics and gravity it was a pretty white bread show.
Please note, when the footage was made in 2013 the Russian Knights flew with the Su-27 Flanker. And this aircraft do not have thrust vectoring engines like the newer versions of the team Su-30SM or Su-35S. On the other hand, the Su-27 was the largest and heaviest aircraft that was used for aerobatics. It's not an training aircraft like the BAe Hawk (Red Arrows), Alpha Jet (Patrouille de France) or MB-339 (Frecce Tricolori). The empty weight of a Su-27 is the same as that of a fully loaded F-16 ( the USAF Thunderbirds fly their displays normally with not fully loaded F-16 ;). Since 2019 the Russian Knights are equipped with four highly-maneuverable Su-35S fighter jets ( between 2016-2019 it was the Su-30SM). The Team can now perform maneuvers they no other aerobatic team in the world can do. ;)

Today is 15th April 2020 COVID 19 isolation time in Berlin and it is as a perfect time to enjoy watching Russian jets and top pilots performing hair rising aerobatics. Most impressive and nerve wrecking was watching how tight are their formations. As a sport pilot I can only bow my head before these extraordinary pilots and their incredible jets. Russian pilots as well as their jets are without any shadow of doubt the best in the world. Good luck to you all in these hard times when we forgot wars because common foe. Why not to try to become friends for a change? Well for as long as the USA is ruled by the psychopaths we will be dragged into their rabid world full of hate and malicious intents.
I was expecting more because I know and love Sukhoi jets are built for acrobatic power and I'm just not seeing it. Perhaps I'm just jaded because I'm used to watching the Blue Angels and the air force team.
Respect from the U.S. By far the most amazing demonstration group I've ever seen. I'd love to see the Russian Knights perform sometime. My fellow stupid citizens need to all watch this. This shows the precision, and power of theRussian military! Wish you guys would come to the United States...
You obviously have never seen either U.S. Navy's Blue Angels or the Air Force Thunderbirds. Look up their videos here on YT and watch. Their formations and maneuvers are far more tight and amazing to watch. The gentlemen are good, but our America FDTs are a lot better.
Do they have issues with training stick tiime? I saw one vid where it sounded like the base was selling rides to help pay for pilots. This team is probably $70K/ per hour...
