I am lucky to have a russian market in my village, although I live in Norway. Olga from Murmansk is coming here to sell things . . . clothes, birch bark containers, valenki, boots and a lot of other things. Also Olga is very friendly and kind. I can also go to the town of Kirkenes. Every thursday russian citizens from Murmansk oblast sell their items in the town square.
We have stalls like this too in Philippines but malls are becoming plenty & at any size now. Russia enjoy your simplicity & the orderly way of life you have! I would love to live in such a village as this, maybe someday I can go to Russia & stay for a while & soak up the Russian gentility & ordinary blessed life.
How can you call poor Sheffield lazy? He is doing what a dog should do, being your companion and "doorbell". You don't expect him to go out and find a job at the local mini-mart, do you? ;-) Please pet him for me!
I think Alex should start his own channel and call it DIY (Do It Yourself) Russian. He could show how guys in Russia do things to keep their bosses (wives) happy. I'm wondering if he is building a new Dacha this summer.
Hi, I hope you warmed up after making your video, Valeria. It's always good when you get a good price on something ! Sheffield is so happy in the snow. Alex is so happy getting his package ! It's a good, fun, happy video !!! Take Care !!!
Wow, what a great video and was excited about a new video. I give the shop keepers so much credit to stand outside in the cold and sell merchandise. It looks so neat and for them to set up their tents outside, they have my respect. In America, we call them Mom and Pop shops, but they are mostly always inside except for the Flea Market or Outdoor Market. I would rather shop like this and support individuals and support locals than big Department stores and online stores. Again, Thank you for the wonderful video.
Totally enjoyed this!!! Love the way the vendors have their's tents set up. I would love shopping for there. Thanks for all the awesome vids. Someday I would live to visit your beautiful country. Best wishes from Indiana, USA 👍❤️
Thank you for doing this for us!?! We have only those such as yourself as out portals into your world over there. This is fun to see and good to know! Have a good day! And for telling us in dollars also (because most Americans are not going to look up the exchange rate - we are too busy dieting and exercising! haha!) I have friends over there, but because of the language barrier, it can be difficult to envision things such as 'market'. So neat to see it!
These videos are so good .... to see people going about their lives in such a non dramatic way .... it's so ordinary it's re-assuring. What happens to the goods in those tents overnight ? Are they just left there, can the tents be closed and secured or are the goods taken away and returned next day ? If the goods are just left there is there some sort of security after everyone has left ?
It was hard time after war. But people were highly motivated. Hard working. My grandmother and grandfather went to Kamchatka to work. Anyway. After 1/3 of country ruined to dust USSR managed to create atom bomb in 1949 and launch man into space after 15 years .
Really nice video, I love it and seeing those markets makes me feel homesick..I had those markets on the countryside too and I really miss them. Thanks for showing us this video, I'm always happy to watch your videos
I love the street markets nice to see Sheffield and I wanted to comment about the video you did while driving with Alex the Russian architecture is so beautiful there nothing like it anywhere else in the world beautiful beyond words
Hello Valeria, I hope you could also make videos of 2nd stores in Moscow preferably in the city. Im planning my trip in winter, end of Nov until the beginning of Dec. We dont have winter in the country where I live and if there are winter clothes in mall boutiques, they are bloody expensive. Not practical if Im just going to use it one time. Im planning to bring just couple of winter clothes and buy there wherever they are cheap. Thanks Valeria!
For Sharon below it is Flea Market for the tiny bug the flea meaning little. I guess you got the blue hat so you can be Mother Frost? OK another cliff hanger so I'll be watching to see what Alex got in the mail. I am getting quite attached to your videos. I better subscribe so you won't send the Russian Mafia after me hahahaha. Keep the videos coming. I just subscribed :-)
Oh I forgot Flea Markets. Down South it is usually used items fixed up with a little new paint. Held in old empty parking lots or closed out shopping stores on the weekends. You can buy or trade items. You must haggle for prices.
You got some good deals shopping in this video. Can't wait to see what Alex got from the US and what you guys got for Christmas from your subscribers. Lol
excellent video, we in usa have similar "flea markets" people usually go to a big indoor warehouse or a outside parking lot and sell goods they produce or need to sell for their business. lots of these goods are custom made items.
I am really surprised at the quality of the meats and cheeses at the market. And so pleased Russians can buy big pants too. The hat looks great and so cheap!.
Hi, just discovered your channel. My family grows mangoes in Australia... were those dried mangoes? How do they compare with fresh - if you have had them fresh, of course?
dry mangoes are very different from fresh ones. If you eat delicious fresh mangoes, you are very lucky. I have a video about mango ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mgFoUt2jvHk.html
Loving Sheffield he’s not lazy he’s smart waiting for a belly rub. You would like the USA south western we have tons of really good fruits 🍉 and vegetables 🌽 Mexican food is yummmy 😋
Here in Texas we have a couple of different market days. One would be a produce market from local growers held at least once a week...get what is in season. Along with some other homemade things like candles, soaps, moisturizers, cutting boards, toys, jams and such. The other would be a artisan market held on special dates. Again, homemake items but of higher class. Pictures, art pottery, jewelry, yard art and usually large venue. But, no one shows up with refrigerators. ha ha Maybe ice chest for meats and cheeses. Your market looks like the stores came to you for the day. Those cheeses look soooo goood. Love your new hat. I hope it keeps you warm. It has been a very cold winter this year.
That's not guava it is guanabana - guavas are smooth and round with white or pink inside. I prefer the white ones - I have a guava tree in my front yard and an avocado, lime and fig tree too.
I saw on the street as you walked by an auto the snow plough had to manoeuvre around. There was little evidence of fresh snow so it prompts me to ask, are you allowed to leave vehicles parked on the street after midnight? Here they are towed, ticketed and placed inside a compound you must satisfy the fine, the tow, as well as rent/penalty for time vehicle, is left. It can amount to hundreds of dollars if too much time passes as the penalty here is increased $100.00 (one hundred) dollars a day. Mike
Mike Lamothe in Russia usually you can leave your car at nighttime on the street. However in big cities there are often a traffic signs that specifically prohibit to leave your car on that exact street in some defined time of week, say Thursday from 0 am to 8 am, to allow the cleaning. If you leave the car in that case it will be towed to special parking lot and you will also have to pay a fine and to the towing company and to the parking lot.
Mike Lamothe Its true Russia has many things similar to Canada much more than for example Russia and Western Europe. Probably because those are both large countries located in similar climate areas
Thank you for sharing everyday life in Russia. I am curious - do the merchants at the outdoor market have some type of space-heater in their stalls, to keep warm?
The only thing I dislike about Flea Markets is no way to know if clothes will fit you. It’s a bit of a gamble but I rather buy clothes I can try, so I don’t waste money. Overall,it’s nicely set up.
BellRain Chan it is possible to try on the clothes, but in winter it is cold to do outside and some sellers let buyers pay for the clothes and go home to check if it is ok. If it is not ok, buyers bring the clothes back and get their money.
Here in the United States we have what is called flee Market. Not sure where the term flee comes from, but it is the same concept. I always wonder where do they get all there merchandise.
There are just blocks of ugly apartments, no individual house. Are there no fresh fruits? You need guavas, pineapples, quinces, avocados etc. You have beautiful trees.
In this video you showed the local market of cloths and garments , can you tell me where from this goods come i mean is these products are manufacture in Russia itself or import from turkey or some other countries , can you tell me exactly the countires names please
I have seen folks selling flowers, etc. in street but window washing fluid?? Bizarre but do you think they could have done that before Russia turned into a Democracy?
Nice video Valeria ma'am ! For a mango-lover like you, may I recommend visiting India, to taste more than 100 varieties (cultivars) of fresh mangoes (mango season is from last week of March to first week of August....best time - May and June)....Kindly show us the new Rubles, "200" and "2000"(if possible).....thank you !
