I noticed that as well. It is especially surprising as I am guessing some of this aftermath is especially gruesome. But yes, God love 'em for doing what they can to help. What they lack in driving skills and sobriety they make up for in altruism. I have a true soft spot in my heart for our slavic brethren. The roads might look decent n the first glance, but most of the time they are actually very poorly designed: they are often too wide, and the speed limit (legal or actual) is way too high.

The roads are good cause the cars only last a few days

They'd be lucky to make it that far in any Australian traffic, certainly in the larger cities eg. Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane. Most of them would probably lose their licence for driving whilst intoxicated (limit in most Aussie states is 0.05% on a full licence, zero for learners & probationary drivers). As for insurance, I wonder the same thing...

I have been driving for more than half a century and while I can't claim to be a 'good' driver - that is for others to judge - but I am certainly a very experienced driver. I have driven all sorts of vehicles on all sorts of roads, in different countries and in all conditions and I can tell you, I would not drive in Russia. I have said before, that Russian drivers aren't just bad, they are close to suicidal. Indian drivers on Indian roads are pretty dreadful, but at least they don't have to cope with snow and they tend not to drive as fast. Russian drivers drive too fast for the conditions, always, they have no 'forward planning', no lane discipline, no anticipation, little or no concentration and are either drunk or falling asleep. Possibly both. None of them brake hard, then harder, then crash into whatever it is they didn't see coming, they tend to swerve, almost invariably into oncoming traffic, hence the appalling, head on collisions. If you look at the steered wheels when they lose control, none of them know how to 'steer in to a skid'. Most of the time, their wheels are pointed in the direction they were going originally and no attempt is made to lessen the severity of the accident or attempt to avoid involving two, three, four or more other vehicles. To be fair, the roads appear to be good. It is the road furniture, road markings, traffic lights (robots) and their positioning. They are dreadful. Almost no advance warning of pedestrian crossings, cross roads, tram tracks, trolley bus junctions and so on. The junctions are huge, with very few lights and no lane markings and what's with drivers turning across 'straight on' lanes? They throw 'U' turns with no indication and no use of mirrors and very often from the wrong lane altogether. No, you would not get me driving in Russia, in the dry, in the summer. In winter, I wouldn't even drive to the airport to go to Russia. Other than that, they are lovely people.

You wouldn't catch me getting on a bus out there either. Those bus drivers are just as crazy as all of them.
