Laid back Spanish lifestyle is good value. The hotter weather helps create this in a similar way to the Australian laid back lifestyle. Glad to see there is a good friendship bond between you guys and you appreciate each others similarities and differences.
I think the obsession of russian women with surgeries and beauty etc has to do with the fact that it is a much more sexist society and women consciously or unconciously believes that they have to look as good as possible to be able to find a man that will support her and her family. I have been to Russia once and as for the drinking part, in Spain, it has to do mainly with drinking wine or a beer while eating, in Russia I think it is more about binge drinking, that is why alcoholism is much more of a problem.
Loved this video Dari! Really enjoyed the collaboration between the two of you and I learned a lot by the comparison of your two cultures. Thanks so much!
I appreciate your frank culture comparisons like this, Dari. As an American, bounded by two oceans and a generally xenophobic society, opportunities to learn things like this almost never come up on my home continent. And I'm sure I don't need to tell you how expensive crossing the ocean is. 😅 Ingrid seems like an awesome person, and also I look forward to her take on Barcelona. 👍
This was a different yet fun video to watch. Not only do you show us places to go and things to do, you also show us different cultures and how they think and act. It's actually refreshing to see differences, because image if everyone in the world was the same. That would be quite boring.
I agree with Ingrid, many of our girls fell for advertising and instagrammed women and began to pump their lips and everything else. It seems like you're young, pretty, why do you need this? That would be how they pumped their brains)) In general, the mentality of the Spaniards is close to me in many ways, despite the fact that I am usually a rather closed introvert. But a couple of glasses of some Rioja easily solves this problem))
So funny. I heard the party didnt start until after midnight. I didnt believe it. We went out about 10....,nobody was out, but the time the party started...i was pretty faded and wanted to go back to the hotel. Lesson learned.
I have spent a Lot of time working in Spain.... Coming from the UK the Spanish laid-back lifestyle took me some time to get used to.... I soon realised that they had it sorted... "Later" is the normal answer I would get.... So Later it was........ I have seen Families with children going out to dinner at 10 pm.... I would be heading back to the Hotel!!.... :-)) xxxx
I believe the the differences are more northern European vs southern European than just Russian vs Spanish. Italians, Greeks and other southerners tend be similar in many respects. On the other side, I understand that Germans and Nordic people to name a few are similar to Russians in certain respects. I've heard that Finnish people can be on the "cold" side and not very touchy feely.
I beg to disagree. Russians are very similar to Spaniards. They take their time to help you, are incredibly kind and helpful and friends for life. They share with you. But in Sweden for example, matters are very different. We tend to be cold, no wanting to really engage to help someone, distant. And if we engage it is probably because we want to show how fantastic we are. Repulsive😢
Interesting to see the similarities and differences in the cultures. I'm glad you are enjoying your time in Spain, and it is so nice that you can spend time again with old friends. Nice video Dari!
I'm Spanish & Italian. (Born in USA) , and I agree with her so much 😅 I can't relate to anyone here in the US because my mentality is work just to get enough money for my responsibilities then the rest of my time is for just relaxing and doing what I want or seeing friends/ family...and people here think I'm lazy for it or whatever. No me importa
This is unfortunately something that is often lacking in Spain - respect and consideration for others. There is also an issue of self-respect. Having a work ethic is really important and self-respect is connected to this. It´s not about working long hours or being focused only on work, but it´s important to care about doing a good job and having ambition and fulfilling your potential as well. Things like integrity and dedication are very importantl. While I agree that it´s good to enjoy life and not focus entirely on work and to spend time with family and friends, it´s also important to have within you the desire to do your best and to know that how well you do something and the efforts that you make reflect on you as a person. Work is not just about paying the bills. Ofcourse, that is the main reason we take jobs, but work also gives you the chance to develop skills, to develop as a person, to become really good at something and to benefit others and contribute to society. With regards to self-respect, I would say that while hook up culture might have become popular, it is actually in decline. And there is good reason for that. Human beings were not designed for that. Human beings were designed to want to have real connections with other human beings and ultimately, having shallow, transient, superficial physical interactions can only leave human beings feeling cheap, dirty, used, and sad, and will over time, damage their self-worth. If you really value yourself, then you simply won´t allow this kind of thing. Finally, Karma is very real and when you have these kinds of interactions, you merge with other people´s karma and it´s very important to consider the character of the people you are choosing to ´íntertwine´ with.
Hi Dari and Ingrid interesting interview and topics, cans of beer Dari ,i thought you liked the wine ,they do all that kissing in France ,its a bit scary at first ,i have been to Andorra ,be interesting to see if i remember it, look after your self and safe travels
I had that experience in Spain also, where someone asked for intimacy after 2 minutes of shallow greeting and small talk. Very different than what I am used to!
Dari, that was a great introduction/ice breaker to various cultural differences and similarities with Spanish people. Gracias! If only we could all be as chill about life and love as those in Spain. Enjoy life while you can because time is fleeting.
Very interesting conversation! I’m Colombian, and we were colonized by Spain, like most of Latin America. That is why we have many similarities like the joy and happiness in life, physical contact when greeting, dancing everywhere, loud speaking, being late, etc. You should come and travel through Latin America!!!
This was a really fascinating conversation! I have definitely learned quite a bit from this and I love how open and genuine you both were in your discussion. Thank you, Dari and Ingrid and greetings from Iowa. 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
Relating this to where I live.... I think there are common unified American cultures but there are also differences in cultures as to where you live within the USA.
Then the Spanish are almost like the Italians and Greeks. Very demonstrative in expressing their emotions and living for pleasure. I must be working with a more aggressive group of S Americans then. They want to earn as much money as possible but the also like their carry in pot lucks and their alcohol when not working. Some work 12 hours or more a day. I believe that I could then infer that the Spanish and S Americans have a different culture and life style from each other.
It must be because us, South Americans, and Latin Americans in general, migrate to other countries to work and work and work, send money to our countries, and after some years go back to retire at home. But we also enjoy life as much as Spaniards or even more when not working.
There's a interesting historical story about Russians being on time and Spaniards coming late: During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), Soviet advisors always wanted to attack early in the morning like 6am, but the Spanish Republican soldiers only started to arrive at around 9am or later. After the Republicans lost the war against Franco, the Russians complained "it's impossible to win with soldiers who are always late for a battle". You see, there have been people from Moscow in Spain who noticed this fact many years ago 😊
Fun fact: I asked a girl out in 11th grade & she broke my nose. Here in Central PA, a girl makes the 1st move. If a guy approaches her he's considered rude and has no self control.
It is! A beach and mountains in one place? It sounds perfect! I'm saving up to go soon. Andorra sounds like a wonderful place to visit. The Pyrenees mountains are amazing! They're so high and full of wildlife. So, it's beautiful there. I also like deviled eggs. Have you ever had them?
It was a nice conversation i learned many things! First of all Turkey and Russia kind of neigbour countries but Turkish culture is more like Spanish culture! What Ingrid told about Spanish culture is almost the same for turkish culture. Thats probably because of we share similar Mediterranian culture and climate!
Ingrid is a wonderful friend. They sure know how to enjoy life in Spain. I enjoyed seeing the cultural differences such as personal space and personal greetings.
It was interesting Dari made a comparison between Russians and Spaniards. That is a comparison I have made my whole life. But it requieres you exclude service people in the Soviet Union who were absolutely awful, real idiots. As soon as the communist dictatorship fell and businesses got owners interested in their businesses prospering, that changed, luckily.
That is an interesting video. First of all, I would say that Ingrid is not an average Catalonian. I would guess that at least one of her parents is from outside Catalonia, either North of Europe or Andalucía. The average Catalonian girl would not identify with Spain and insist she is not Spanish but Catalonian. Half of the population is hysterical on this issue. There are very many immigrants from Andalucía and they would not oppose being called Spanish, probably. I have lost Catalonian friends caught up in this obsession and thereafter being untreatable. So a great plus to Ingrid (a Nordic name). The sexual revolution in Spain occurred in the mid 1970's after the death of the dictator. It began with the movies but quickly changed all norms. Fun times!
What an interesting video, Dari. The contrasts in cultures is always kind of fascinating when you travel. Life seems to move at a slower pace in some of these places.
You have a nice friend Dari. Very interesting to hear about very different greetings when you meet a new person. You can see how each side might be confused in such situations. I knew the spanish liked siestas during the day due to the weather but didnt know the extent of the "casual" experiences between people you have just met!!
Sexually transmitted diseases ?? Frank!! I can tell you no, people here are very clean and take great care of themselves, but it is true that people enjoy life, sex, love, food and friends and are open-minded and have no complexes! or traumas!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much Dari for this amazing video. Ingrid is really a nice and sweet friend: friendship is very important and cultural differences have no barriers, on the contrary they enrich our lives and are fundamental to be more open-minded towards the entire world. Your videos are always wonderful and Andorra is worth a visit. It is really beautiful. Greetings from Italy❤💚💙
Hello Dasha; Glad that you are enjoying Spain. Such a pretty country! Never been there before. Been to Italy. Been watching your videos for around 2 months now. Hi from Edward! Best of luck from Canada!
Spain sounds fun, will Dari become a true spanish lady? 😂😂😂 Nice to hear you talk about similarities and differences between your two cultures in a curious and informative way. Just like civilized people should talk about everything 🤓 It would be great fun to see a little about spanish nightlife and siesta some time, if you can keep awake 🥳😪 Cosmetic treatment and surgery... Nah Dari, you will never need that, your parants did a fine job of bringing a nutural beaty into the world 🥰 Glad to see you learn so much about Spain, best of luck exploring the rest 🤠
Nice video. Cultural differences are so interesting. As I have traveled, I have taken time to talk with natives to investigate some of the social and behavioral differences. One of things I found crazy in Spain is that the people eat dinner so late....like at 9pm! Keep on making great videos!
Such an enjoyable video Dari! It must have been quite a culture shock the first time you visited Spain. Hope to see more of these as you become even more widely travelled!
@@smlorrin That's right, it's not purely German, but Germanic, and the spelling is probably also common in Norway and Sweden. At least according to Wikipedia. It was one of the top ten female first names in Germany until the end of the 1950s. Nevertheless, apparently also known in Spain.
Eastern Europe and Western Europe friends talking with us from every corner of the world watching. How cool is that? When I lived in Spain I remember 2-3 hours for lunch...and the outdoor workers would drink a lot and sing loudly!
Don't forget that Latin was the language of the Roman Empire. Spain is indeed a Latin country and if part of America is called "Latin" it is because it was colonized by Spain.
