We traveled from Russia to Goa. Yes, there is trash. But overall we really enjoyed it.

People who dislike a country because "streets are dirty" are idiots. That's not the most important when you travel. The people, the culture, nature, architecture are what's important. India is one of the most beautiful place, dirty or not. The colors are amazing (fabrics, paint etc for a photographer it's incredible) the traditions, classical indian music, the food, the peaceful philosophy of some indian religions, the diversity of nature... Yes some areas of India exhibit level of poverty few of us are used to, but you don't hate a place because it's poor, it's not people's fault. Besides, India's economy is quickly developing. India is very developed with pharmaceutical companies, hospitals... I wish these hi-tech hospitals were accessible for everyone in India and not mostly for "medical tourism" though. If I had a couple of critics, I would say I'm mot a fan of current Indian government (Modi) and I wish India's development was more careful about preserving the environment. Despite this, as a traveller, I want to go back🙂 I'm from France, streets of Paris can be quite dirty too sometimes. Yet, I still think Paris is an incredible city to discover for those who take the time.
