After a year of Brands exiting Russia, What was left over and how do they compare? Lets review and see what we have replacing those iconic brands, #Starbucks #Mcdonalds #RussianReacts
@17:47 around there. I don't think you're wrong. It makes sense to me, people need to work they can't stop and let their families go hungry. The business left, so someone/something had to take it's place. Peoples lives don't stop just because a business stops. You seem very intelligent and have good insight. Don't listen to the haters/complainers and stay real. Thanks Irena 💛
Well, one point to remember is that while Russia is the largest country in the world it only has the 9th largest population. Russia's population lies between the populations of Bangladesh and Mexico. Add to that the fact that the demographics of Russia shows a third of the population are pensioners. Then one must look at the mean income which is $11k per year and you can clearly see that large international companies don't suffer from leaving Russia.
@13:00 ish... I remember playing World of Warcraft (The Elysium Project) and running in a group with one other person. It was a short partnership, but before we disbanded, the other player gave me an item and said, "From Russia with Love." I just said, "Hey, thanks!" Then, they asked me where I'm from. I told them that I live near Houston Texas in the United States. And, they responded by asking if it's true that all Americans hate Russians. This nearly floored me, but I replied that Americans, in general, are fine with Russians. It's the governments that don't get along. If only people could learn that we have more in common with each other than we do with our governments, there would be a major paradigm shift... for the better... in this world. I for one, love meeting people from other countries and cultures. :)
Buddy, I've seen Americans and other Westerners shit talk Russians tons online. Yeah it's not everyone, but it's way more prevalent than people think. For example lots of Americans view Russians as being less intelligent, or less ethical. Other western countries do roughly the same.
I have in previous videos, essentially this video was to highlight some of the Imposter brands that have filled the void since the mainstream brands that have left
when companies in alternative countries buy the products the product manufacturer is still getting paid. they are just mad because they can't dictate who is getting the product in the long run, kinda of like saying indians can't have our product 😂 which is discriminative. Governments are responsible for which products or persons cross their borders.
Regarding what is being said in the DW-video about Russian tourists, I believe that what the lady in the DW-video refer to are not the Russian tourists as a group or individuals, but the fact that after the Russian war-invasion of Ukraine started many countries don´t allow e.g. planes from Russia to enter their airspace, borders are closed and Russian people can´t travel to those countries etc. Of course in general Russian people are not to blame and of course people in general don´t mistrust a person just for being Russian. The matter is instead the country of Russia and that country´s actions, e.g. the suffering the country of Russia is causing in Ukraine. At least that is how I understand the situation. And I do hope that people don´t judge other people based on nationality or anything such, but instead of who person is, the person´s actions etc.
Russia is the largest by land, not by population. Russia's population is less than half that of the United States. Their economy is a third and their military is depleted. All Russia has left is their nukes, which are old and easily shot down by American weaponry.
@@TheGovernor-vw9cf I was in the US Army. I did two tours in Iraq. We have weaponry I can't tell you because my classification is for life. I am not concerned about rusty old russia.
@@tbd-5160 you would be concerns about American life’s if rusisa put missles in Cuba Mexico Venezuela and did military exercises off the coast of New York Florida California and Alaska
Thank you for making this! Idk much about Russia so learning from you is interesting and entertaining. Always put a smile on my face. Also saying 'come on, Irena' and getting the word was brilliant 😆 Can't wait for the next! 💓
This reminds me of how things have been for a lot of years now in Cuba. The embargo between Cuba and the United States has slowed goods being imported onto the island country, but it hasn't just ceased to exist, especially since American-made products go to other Latin American countries who have commerce with Cuba and that's how items made in the US have made it onto the island since honestly the late 50s.
The way i see it.... these brands arent just about the product. Its more about the symbol (for how ridiculous that sounds) yeah we look back and laugh at the pizza hut commercial where Gorbachev was in it but in a way.... it kinda showed tensions relaxing between nations. People were willing to talk and trade. Same with Mcdonalds. Sure you can imitate the taste. You can make the same thing. But the relationship isnt there anymore.
1:00. Konstantin, My other favorite Russian, RU-vidr... Him and Irina, my favorites! When Konstantin reviewed the New Russian replacement to McDonalds last year, he picked up the hamburger and SCOLDED it, (pointing finger at it) Calling the burger "Imposter! fake! not hard working like McDonalds.". for over a minute. . Funny guy
I also get surprised and feel the same way when ads interrupt my RU-vid-watching as you Irina :D Damn, ads everywhere. On RU-vid and this is annoying IMO. In the city. On the bus. In the bus. On road-signs when driving a car, bike or walking. :D BR //M
I love that Russia just nationalised the property of the companies the left Russia and sold the brands and reopened them apparently a Russian rapper now owns starbucks lol
I don’t understand why, if you think everything is so much better in Russia, you’re living in the United States. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those “America is the best country in the world” people, but it’s very clear where your heart lies. Why aren’t you back in Russia “living the good life”?
People tend to see things through rose colored glasses after they have been away for a while, I do love America for all the wonderful people and for all of the opportunities it has provided me. We all know that the last few years of which I have been here, we had a Virus, crippling inflation, invasion, political issues, etc. I can keep going on. The America from a short few years ago has changed, im sure we can agree, I miss Russia because my family and friends are there and of course I miss my cultural items, I believe the USA is resilient and it will bounce back, its one of the qualities I love about the Americans and country in which I now call home. USA, USA, USA
If Ukraine and all of those former Soviet states decided to re-join Russia, Russia would become more than a country, but an Empire. I always supported Ukraine but when I think about it, they might have more to gain by joining Russia. Their language and cultural identity has always been intact before they were sovereign. Too bad blood has already been shed because there's no way Ukrainians would want to join Russia now. Putin went about that idea the entirely wrong way
The biggest problem for Russia is America is based on capitalism. What does this mean? It means you have 340 million people trying to invent new things, Always trying to make better products! America is always pushing forwards to make life better for everyone! Take the cell phones, almost everyone in the world has one but look what the cell phone did. It gave everyone the opportunity to learn, explore to see what opportunities you could have in a different country, that’s America!
Strange how they didn't seem to care when we illegally invaded Iraq, in fact their mobile restaurants were right there with us. Maybe they just made too much money out of lockdown being the first restaurants to open whilst independent more hygienic food outlets were forced out of business
I'm American but I've been using a Russian search engine (Yandex) for years. It's so much better than Western search engines. Less censorship and propaganda.
It don't matter how big a country is in size. What matters is the "buying power", how many people there are and how much money they have to spend. Russia's GDP is estimated to be is $5.733 trillion, China's GDP was $27.02 trillion and the United States GDP was 28.18 trillion. Estimates as of July 1, 2024, the Russian population was at 143,957,079. Going by population, China 1,416,043,270, , India 1,409,128,296, and the United States 336,673,595 are the 3 biggest countries.
Wrong. Russias GDP is 1 trillion. Where the heck did you get 5 trillion from? That's like Japan/Germany level And China's GDP is 18 trillion. Where are you getting these numbers?! The US China GDP gap is over 10 trillion as of today and growing
@@trevor3013 Russia's GDP was 1.779 trillion back in 2021, it has grown since then. At the end of 2023 Russia's GDP was $4.148 trillion. The West's sanctions on Russia had little long term effect it would seem. Russia's economy is going strong despite Western sanctions, in fact Russia's economy is growing faster than all the G7 economies. The Russian economy in 2023 even outpaced both the United States and Europe in terms of growth. A lot of Russia's GDP boost comes from military spending, and despite attempts to stop them Russia's oil and gas sales are still strong, thanks partly to its relationship with China, India and the United Arab Emirates. Russia has found ways to to get around global technology bans and like the rest of the worlds dependence on China, China was already making much of what Russia needs and can buy much of what Russia sells. The IMF's prediction paints a even stronger picture of the Russian economy for 2024. The question now is, will this hold out? Seeing that so far 40% of the world is dumping the dollar in favor of separating themselves from the West's Global Agenda, it just might.
The USA has had off-brand stuff for decades being sold right next to the name brands, for as long as I've been alive anyway. For every Mt Dew there's a Mountain Lightning. For every Doritos there's a Great Value Nacho Cheese flavored tortilla chips. My parents didn't want to spend a lot of money on Nikes for me so I wore Voit brand shoes growing up... I'm not sure what "Great Value-ing" an entire country is going to end up costing down the line, or what it'll accomplish. For someone like me who sees the invasion of Ukraine as unnecessary though, this whole thing seems like a huge waste of time and effort. All the energy spent rebranding Starbucks could just as easily have been spent building and marketing a Russian multinational corporation that sells Russian tea or something.
Don't let these brands come back ! Better for Russia ! They improved their products, made them better ! The ones who left, shot themselves in the foot! This "DW" , is anti-Russia.. They are crying now..
@@johnfendley6592 No..! You will not experience other besides it ! You're NOT aware of better quality outside US.. Much better outside..from chocolate to ..not everything..even if i can't recall a better product from US.. ..yeah..now that i think about it.. Try World products, and you will be amazed! There are many reactors that receive World Wide food, and beer, and many snacks..they get amazed! ..and, in Russia, NO GMOs food !!!
"Real Reporter" has a couple of great shows on this topic. Have you seen is channel? Also, I live in the USA and I never go to the places they are talking about, lol. So sad, Russians cant get overpriced crappy American restaurants. I noticed that they did not mention China at all - it's because American businesses don't want to make China angry.
