I always need the Nih Core. Been using the new setup since the update and it's the first thing I check to see if still intact after getting offlined.

Your explanation was really good. To many people get caught up in what way is 'the best' way to use batteries. There is more then 1 way to do almost everything so I always say, if your circuit worked at the time you needed it to work, then it was the perfect circuit. Im really looking forward to what more is to come with the coming changes, and maybe some new components ;)

From my testing, running a small battery into the toggle input of the memory cell saves you 1 rW, that the electrical branch diverts, resulting in a more efficient circuit for 5 extra HQM and 75 less metal frags, since you no longer need the 3 rW branch. This won't affect most players but it could be useful for some. As for the extra branch you mentioned, the OR switch prioritizes the input with higher power on it. In case of the inputs having same power on them, it prioritizes input A over input B. Thus you want to limit the power going from the battery to the same amount as the failover point. Let's say the failover point is 70 rW. The battery will always supply 70 rW to input B of the OR switch. When the power sources supply let's say 90 rW, you'll get 70 rW on input A, which takes priority over the 70 rW on input B and the turrets will be supplied straight from the power sources. If the power sources get below the threshold of 70 rW, the memory cell will toggle and result in 0 rW on input A, making the constant 70 rW from the battery on input B take over. That also results in you not wanting to mix up which OR switch input receives power from which source. The battery should always be connected to input B.

For me this circuit is an absolute must every build. Power fluctuates with solar and wind. Without steady power the batteries are not always charged. With this circuit you have a failover from power loss or lowered output that wont cause your electric to brown out. Set it and walk away knowing your good for the wipe.

Yep, that would be my stance as well

at 6:20 the reason you need to add a branch is because it limit the out put current if you have 100 power into or switch the or switch will automatically select the higher power source instead of left and right
@beefnuts2941
@beefnuts2941 22 часа назад
yeah, it doesn't really make sense to use I guess if you're just doing the max 100 off a large battery. But if you only need say 60 power for your stuff, you set both sides to 60, and then when it goes below 60, it switches to battery. Otherwise, with no limiter on the right side, the or switch would always take from the battery, because the left side will always be less than the battery.

Root power to EB. First EB branch with end use power number (turrets, sort system, etc) to A in OR switch. First EB main power goes to second EB. Second EB main power goes to feed batteries. Second EB branch goes to blocker. Battery output (combined then) goes to blocker then to B in OR switch. It does the same thing unless I'm missing something.
@Nihagi
@Nihagi 3 месяца назад
Yes you are missing something :) In the setup you proposed, the root power is wasted when you are running on battery power. The nih core redirects all root power over to the batteries when it can't sustain your circuit, instead of wasting it.
@billyboblillybob344
@billyboblillybob344 3 месяца назад
@@Nihagi Well the battery only runs when there isn't enough root power to power the circuit. Power beyond what the circuit needs is already being sent to the battery otherwise. Not sure what is being wasted here.

Hilariously, after posting this comment a couple months ago, I ran into a problem with this setup where power was not being distributed properly. And, of course, I had the setup backward. I have edited it so the system works swimmingly. I would hope someone could point out how this setup is wrong or unusable or something...
@mrniseguyy8588
@mrniseguyy8588 8 дней назад
@@billyboblillybob344 it's not inherently "wrong." But, as Nihagi pointed out. When you are on battery backup bc root power has dropped below threshold, that root power is being wasted. Whereas, with this circuit that root power is channeled back into the battery while the battery has taken over the circuit. So, if you need 70 power for your circuit. But, the root power drops to 40. Your battery takes over circuit; but that 40 power being generated goes to the unused side of the OR switch and is "wasted." Whereas in this setup. That 40 power is being put into the battery while the battery is powering the circuit. Hope that makes sense.
@billyboblillybob344
@billyboblillybob344 8 дней назад
@@mrniseguyy8588 I guess I am still missing something. When the root power goes less than the demand, the blocker is unpowered allowing battery backups to also flow through the OR switch either until the root power can power the blocker or simply ceases. All power beyond the demand is being fed to the batteries while the root power is operating above the demand. If the power goes below demand at any point, the backup battery will supplement the root as long as is necessary or completely if the root has been destroyed. So I guess I'm still missing something. I'm not trying to be disagreeable but I am simply an electrical novice (at best) and to me it looks like there is a ton of extras being employed that is unnecessary.

A good reason for setting power separate is… say my circuit needs 80 power to run it all. Now lets say i put lights or something less important last on my circuit an that takes 20 power to run. Well I can then set the bat out to 60 and if for some WONKY reason it switches to battery power the less needed shuts off and will eat up less of my battery.

LOOOONG time sub here :P Love the vids as always! Few requests / questions: Can we have a auto on/off electric smelter? I have tried ALL available (that I could find) circuits, as well as my own, and I keep running in the the same problem with all - THey turn off too quickly while there is still stuff to be smelted, but nothing in in+out (as in, nothing already smelted to take out, and nothing to smelt to take in) Any thoughts? perhaps an auto resetting timer that has a 1s delay before they actually turn off? Second - I love having 2x seperate 4x battery NiH cores, as redundancy... Could you show how YOU would do it? I have my turrets, each with an OR switch, to each NiH core - works ok, but the main vulnerability then is the OR switch and its location, as taking that out simply takes out the turret Would love your thoughts :) Thanks again for all your hard work!

First, thank you!! I really do appreciate it. I'll look into the smelter for you. I know a guy (lol) who makes some great auto smelting systems. If he's got something I'll link you something of his. If not, I can come up with something. Regarding the Nih Core, I am literally working on a video that covers exactly that!

I’m telling you now, if I had the ability send pics here you will fully understand me when I say, the nih core is an absolute game changer. Long story short I had 12 turbines feeding 6 batteries which battery fed 600 watts of usage which I then used a memory cell to transfer those 600 watts to a trap, when I was in need of it. I had a real hard time doing this and then raiders just saw the turbines, assumed something not nice was happening and just aimed for where they thought the batteries were. Using the nih core actually makes your batteries a back up source of power. Yes turbines aren’t a stable source of power so you still need to design your circuit so that the batteries can handle the full load when production dips below your required amount, the core can switch to the batteries and still have everything powered. But the main purpose of me sharing this is now that when the raiders destroy the batteries, the whole circuit still functions directly from the power source. If you’re not running the system to its limit, the batteries aren’t even necessary, but say people destroy your turbines, you still have 5hrs of protection from your large batteries. I used the nih core this wipe and OMG the difference it makes is phenomenal. I ended up charging 10 batteries, giving me a lot more room to play around with even though I didn’t change my actual usage that much, it did give me the ability to put 1000 watts through the trap when I diverted power that way. A much more effective use of power.

I would also like to know this; I have six large batts, and so the 600 power is always taking over instead of the 200 or so coming in. Therefore, completely pointless to build this since the batteries never stop running. I cannot figure out what is wrong, and nobody seems to actually show what to set everything to in multiple battery setups. Incredibly frustrating.

Nih core is fantastic but I can't figure it out with the new way some circuits work. Without NihCore I can get 60 used and skip the power that is not used. With Nihcore It's 89 always for example. So only the circuits that have a stable drain I use Nihcores for

I am in need of electrical assistance. i request a video on hooking up the automated lighting system and connecting a network to which the lights are still switchable for toggle on and off with multiple buttons Example:if it where to get night time the lights switch on automatically, But i wish to turn them off so i press a button then it switches the lights off i then go to a different area located in my base click a dif button to switch the same lights conected back on. This gives me control of the light as well as leaving them on when i chose to for the automated system, there also has to be a process for when the lights are switched off during the night and that is that the automated system still functions in the next daylight cycle so it has little to no error. Basically, reseting itself. 😅 if you dont mind, i know it does sound like a lot, but it's worth it. tbhh...😊
